I suppose many civilizations dieded in the battle between gurren lagann and the anti-spiral. Except for earth. I actually surprised that ALOT of spiral species are happy about it. Cuz they keep throwing galaxies like shurikens.
Well to be fair it was only the anti-spiral who destroyed the galaxies, not really fair to blame team dai-gurren.

I really liked that sttgl looks like kamina, it's like when simon says to kamina that he lives in his heart (episode 26) is actually quite literal, the sttgl is the representation of that, kamina is still alive in all dai gurren brigade's member'd hearts and thats the perfect way to show it

Porque Mans It's called symbolism. While this can be taken in a variety of ways and it is more or less up to the viewer to decide, it's obviously not literally Kamina.. or is it? As shown in episode 26 when a person of sufficient spiral energy dies they don't really "die" rather they become spiral energy and are able to manifest themselves through presumably great effort. It is entirely possible that Kamina (and maybe everyone else) lended his powers, like a spirit bomb, to Simon during the final battle and took the form of STTGL. In Simon's own words, it was time to "combine". Who is to say that only included the living members of Team Dai-Gurren?
However I prefer to think of it as Kamina in a symbolic fashion, and since that's what I started this comment on I'll end it on symbolism. In all honesty Kamina is probably dead, and episode 26 was Simon talking to his inner "Kamina", otherwise known as his inner willpower which he chooses to see as Kamina. After all, you can't bring people back from the dead and Simon knows this. However in the final fight STTGL was Simon's will power made manifest. It was all he stood for, all he was, and all he ever would be. As it's his will power, and as stated Kamina is what Simon depicts as his inner will, then STTGL would also be Kamina.
MrObviousJester Ara ara, actually Simon's Spiral Power does have the power to bring the dead back to life. This was stated right after Nia faded out of existence. Yoko commented saying that Simon isn't a god and that it would be better if he let them rest in piece.
I'm pretty sure Simon wants to revive Nia, Kamina, and Team Dai Gurren, but he doesn't want to seem like a god.
Kurumi Tokisaki I don't remember them ever mentioning Simon being able to bring people back to life with spiral energy, and if he could no one would be able to know because he didn't do it (obviously). In the scene you mentioned I remember (though it's been a while I could be remembering this incorrectly) that Yoko said specifically "hes not god" not "he doesn't want to be seen like a god"

This whole speed of light-thing made me realize something:
It would take millions of years, possibly billions of years for the light emitted from Super Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann and Super Grand Zamboa to reach Earth for an audience to see.
That means after billions of years when Simon and the gang save the world, a group of people or beings who've never known them (probably) will suddenly see a grand sky-filled battle take place all throughout the sky...like...a giant 3d movie projection at Disney or something!
I bet even they in their infinite abilities and technology would shit their self-cleaning butt-massaging pants at that sight.

If you remember from the anime, the area in which they fight is located between what we humans call the tenth and eleventh dimension. Its a sub universe, so im assuming that no one else was in it... But this is anime, and one in which physics and general sanity is thrown out the window, so it's pointless to even dive into a physical argument...

Which means that STTGLs giga drill is so freaking huge, we cannot even see it because it is just way to big.
And, way to far away from earth(if you don't care about how the heck did earth see all that stuff, i say TTGL just generally likes to fuck physics.), not only this fight would take about ten trillion years to deal with, it also means that every single movement of them will come to earth about just a few another 2 billion years for the light to come.
Which means that if there were ever such a fight, we would be sitting duck, not even able to see a shit.

Then consider the fact that that Grand Zamboa took two galaxies and rolled them together to get enough energy as a big bang.
Which first lets look at the "point" of big bang, it is a dot, that is infinitely small, and holds about 28g of things crammed in there.
And just by how he seriously rolled a ball, and it was a big bang(you can even see the creation that spit out of the big bang attack), you can consider how many mass is required to fill a thing that is about 52billion light years big and in it, every single "dot" must hold 28g.

TTGL is made at least partially out of metal; spiral energy creates the metal (like when Gurren Lagann repairs itself) and constitutes the gigantic flames. It has been stated that spiral energy breaks the law of conservation of mass, so there you go.
If they wanted to, I'm sure they would make a form that's a million times bigger than Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. That's just how they do.

Since we don't know exact size of the universe. This pocket dimension may be smaller or bigger.
But when we see the Gran Zamboa's hand hover over earth, we see a sample of it's true size.
Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann is way bigger than Earth and the Moon. Arc-Gurren is made from the size replica of the Moon so it's about as big as it. In the episode where Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann makes it's first appearance Earth sized planets are thrown at it and look about the size of small rocks compared to it. So all three last forms are completely off scale.

Well, they already have instantaneous inter-universal travel, so I just see it as an expansion upon that technology.
Nothing is being pushed away from anything in the sense of real motion, for example imagine you and a friend chillin. neither of you are moving, yet the gap between you 2 is widening, nothing is pushing you 2 apart, but there's more space between you. The force behind it is called dark energy as we don't really know what it is, but it generates a pressure that expands space, and it accelerates because as space expands it becomes easier to expand, exactly opposite of a rubber band.

The spiral warriors made the mechs up unto cathedral terra (which is the biggest "natural" mech), the others (from the arc-gurren and above) are made by combining the lagann with them, they defy most laws of physics by creating mattery out of nowhere.

They can state what they want - on screen canon takes precedence over any other claim or statement or source and since
1. The anti spiral planet was roughly 1/100 the size of the anti spiral mecha- so
A) The Planet was around 1000 Light years across (unlikely)
B) The Mechas were the size of Solar systems and the "galaxies" were just a manifestation of the pocket universe
And yet for some reason Gainax still managed to muck up the sizes of the Tengen Toppa Ganmen in the final battle scene thingy.
It's really hard to comprehend the size of the bigger mechs. The problem is that, while we can more or less comprehend how big Gurren-Lagann is and even the few mechs that come bigger than it, it's really difficult to comprehend how big a galaxy is. It's pretty much outside of our minds understanding.
Like, the Milky way Galaxy is about 100,000 light years in diameter. I can't even comprehend how big that is. There's nothing to compare it to. So when Teppen Tonga Gurren Lagann is bigger than multiple galaxies, I can't comprehend how big it is.
I guess that's not really a bad thing tho.
And this is coming from someone that's never heard of this before, and is learning this from an astronomy minor.

Apart from the slight annoyance that it's Granzemboma or Granzamboma (one of the two) and not Grand Zamboa, this was pretty interesting. Again though, it was only a slight annoyance, don't get pissed off over it.
Legann was made in the original spiral/anti-spiral war and was found along with the key-drill by Simon. Gurren/Dai/Super Galaxy, where made assumable by Lord Genome or are either leftovers like Legann, or where made by Lord Genome and where captured. Arc was made by Earth as part of crappy backup plan, and was originally a colony/escape ship. Tengu Toppa and its Super form (as well as the Galaxy sized personal mechs from the movie) where made almost entirely out of pure spiral energy.
Arc Gurren was actually a spiral battleship, not a colony ship. Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann (Also Cathedral Terra/Lazengann, depending on if you watch the series or Lagann-hen) was captured by the anti-spiral. Gurren was made from a commandeered gunmen, which Lordgenome never planned for, same as Dai-Gunzan

Sora PL None of his enemies were reality warpers. Probability shield will result in Saitama not punching the robot so he'll do nothing to it no matter how hard he tries. So far all Saitama showed is his physical strength and resistance.

The discrepancies in size are most likely a side effect of the pocket dimension warping space. I mean a robot that big moving even a little would thoroughly break light speed, which means breaking fundamental universal constants, which means... well, as someone else already said better than I can, "Fuck logic."

A space between one dimension and another is infinite, the Antispiral lived in between dimensions ten and eleven, it's a space of immeasurable size. TTGL and STTGL are very much larger than a standard galaxy. The landscaping of the battle were the ideas of those fighting solidified, as the place is described as being able to "Put thought into reality." The size of anything there is immeasurable.

My understanding was that they fought in a pocket universe of the Anti-Spiral's creation, and since the Anti-Spirals certainly wouldn't have placed any Spiral life within it (and maybe not even any life at all, other than themselves).

It was that big; the pocket universe just distorts scale (oh, come on, it's no more ridiculous than manipulating probability, which they did a LOT near the end).

I actually have to agree with you on that, maybe not that length of time, but certainly a very long time, longer than the planet that they are fighting for would not be same. in fact, every one on lagann would die of old age too, but the pocket dimension changes these rules and thats the only reason its allowed.

I almost didn't watch them because the english dub voices are so awesome, it wouldn't be the same. But I think the subs are just as good in their own right when you get used to them. And yeah, still worth watching for sure!
Meanwhile, as for my comment, it talks about weather or not if we really don't entirely know if there's anything outside of the observable universe, or what happened before the universe. That's what's currently being worked at. String Theory as an applicant for the theory of everything. Take note as you're talking to a scientific skeptic- learn and speculate, experiment, and collect evidence and formulate explanations that fits the evidence.

the universe and the observable universe are too separate things the OU is how far our instruments can detect anything which is about 46-47 billion light years from Earth but that doesnt mean the universe ends there we just can "see" past it. so the universe doesnt have a finite size as we cant tell how big it actually is.
