Justking I know how you feel but I have a way different view, I don’t want any more code geass since it ended with r2 perfectly(epic way). I would love to see the character arcs finish but I’m fine with how it is. R3 wasn’t canon anyways so I can’t count that as part of the series. Finished Gurren Lagan last night and can say absolutely it’s one of the greats. Amazing show that despite being goofy and silly provides some great themes about moving on from the death of a loved one and persisting in the face of fear. It also gave some of the most hype shit I’ve ever seen in an anime. 10/10 spin on boys.
It’s funny, I remember so many people talking about how this was one of their favorite anime’s and I assumed that they were just overhyping it, as many new anime fans do. I just finished Gurren Lagann yesterday. Tears in my eyes many times throughout the series. I felt like I grew up with the characters. I was aggressively rooting for them in the final battle. This is easily one of my favorite anime’s - the story, character development, lessons on grief, animations and the music were all fantastic. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM
whats crazy is that so many people choose not to get into this because "The show needs to catch them the first episode" i think thats a shallow way of gauging shows, because the pacing is genius. If you cant deal with the slow moments, you dont deserve the hype.
I love this anime because it teaches a very basic yet very important lesson about hope: If you want to do something, don't let anything stop you. Don't let people stop you, don't let things stop you, don't let reality itself stop you. You just have to push forward, be better and evolve with every minute your heart beats. If you don't believe in yourself, then believe in the people who believe in you. Stubbornness, hope and strength is what made Kamina and Simon win against an impossible foe, so these same things will help you battle against someone impossible in your life as well. So... If you're out there somewhere, know this: I believe in you. So believe in me, because I believe in you.

I was bowling with a coworker who didn't have much confidence in her ability. I recited bits of Kamina's speech to her on the last three frames, and she got THREE STRIKES IN A ROW. Such is the power of Gurren Lagann for a person's self-confidence.
unlike many main characters that are unique by the fact of birth, Simon and Kamina were unique because of their attitude, that’s why they are so believable and we all can relate to them
Listening to this brings back some memories of the time of when someone in high school had this blasting through the intercoms while dressed as Kamina, he got expelled for the semester fun times

After more than 10 years, I can say that THIS is the thing that impacted my life the most. It changed me, profoundly. I used to be a shy guy who didn’t have faith in the world, who was often bored and who was scared of things. Today I kinda became a Simon to myself and a Kamina to others. I believe in myself and the others, and I’m in love with life. I feel like I found meaning through this masterpiece, more than any other piece of literature or philosophy. The authors will probably never know, but Gurren Lagann had an impact on an entire generation. If you didn’t watch the show yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it now. It may change your life as well.
Two men who do the impossible simply because no one could stop them. It had just about every trope you can think of, but it also proved these things resonate with humans on every level that's important. Thank you Gurren Lagann, for being awesome.
So much of this it hurts! People don't seem to understand that things are cliche for a reason. It works. While, yes, it is nice to try to subvert those cliches and tropes, something isn't inherently bad because it does use them.

There were lots of cliche moments in the show, for that is undeniable. Some it did and they were great. Some they did, but as a way of subverting it. Some it started itself. People forget how old the show is. Things that are cliche now, weren't necessarily cliche then. The show, at least in the first season (I have reservations about season 2), was a masterpiece.

This show started with a bunch of cavemen digging holes in the underground to the end with them throwing galaxies at each other and blasting energies with the size of the god damn big bang in the span of 27 episodes. When the lead character goes from being a timid little boy to being so hot-blooded that he kills a literal God in close quarters combat, there has been some character development. When said lead character abandons infinite power, there has been some character growth.
This show was so ahead of its time, the characters weren’t even around that long yet they were so memorable, it truly was great while it lasted, thank you Gurren Lagann for all the memories.

Day 5 of rewatching Gurren Lagann after many decades. Not only just as good as I remember, it's even better.❤❤ This series got me through highschool. :')
The anime is a perfect representation of humanity. We went from being cavemen, to having the ability to land a man on the moon. Before the industrial revolution, we lived our lives strikingly similar to our ancestors. After that, people started to rightfully fear that we were developing too fast. Exception being that as human beings, we have the ability to teach. Don't be ashamed when you inevitably fuck up. That is a lesson to be taught to the next generation.
Gurren Lagann is the biggest piece of .... Optimism , i have ever seen in my life . The most uplifting , most inspirational story i have ever witnessed . It kinda changed my entire worldview , just a year ago , when I first watched it , May 2021 . Also helped me get through family some drama ... I even have Simon's drill necklace , and wear it at important occasions . I will forever hold it near and dear to me . Thank you , Gurren Lagann .

With No stupid fillers that has No meaning to the story. The best is there end with you want more, but there are not give you more.

For me it ended what darling in the franxx should have. I saw darling first. I love darling, but the last ep was for me a pain to watch. The funny Thing i try to watch gurren first but I could not take the Two first ep serious so me and My friend stop watching it. I am in New York in vacation, and I have autism, so i have very Hard with all the new things. So I fund gurren on Netflix. Gurren has really help me with make the day out. After a Hard Day i always could look forward to watch gurren. And now I finish it 😭😭 and I still have five days left. This song has this raw, passionate power to it. It seems to embody the idea of going up against impossible odds, and continuing a loved one's legacy. I don't know if it feels that way because I have come to associate the song with the show's plot or what, but regardless the song is masterfully executed and emotionally powerful in its own right.
I'm sure a lot of people haven't watched this anime because all they see is a mecha anime and they hold prejudice against them. But they don't see that it's the mecha anime that will pierce straight through your heart!
I got light headed in the last episode. My fingers were feeling numb and swollen with trillions of tingling sensations going on. I never felt like I was near to fainting from an anime, or a show in general. I'm typing this comment one hour after finishing the series and I'm still feeling a bit light headed. Gurren laggan woke the kid in me, and I got to spend it with someone who has felt the same. This show will be an experience I'll never forget.
I'm going to watch it again, everytime I see atleast 1 reference, i go crazy. Like if someone wants a recommendation, I instantaneously say Gurren Lagann. In fact, I'm just forcing myself to rewatch it, I want to watch this without any memory, it'll be fucking magical.
This show kept each character different, they are all memorable, but kamina and Simon, they had the same character design, they where one person, one soul. They wherent just blood brothers, they where two incarnations of pure determination, they are spiral energy, they are the drill that advances, and evolve after every turn. From the clothes, to the glasses, to the mecha they fought in, begining and final forms, they where one. This show is not just a cartoon, it is a life story, a blessing, that sings the song of determination. From a little kid and his blood brother, to a being soo large galaxy's look like stars, gurren lagann expressed a message we all need, one that no one can be perfect without. It tells the tale of two people, kicking reason to the curb, and doing the impossible to show the universe they can. This show itself works like a drill, every episode, a new advancement, every character, new knowledge, even boota, a little pig mole who, without speaking for most of his known life grew, and when he could speak, he didnt need anybody to explain the universe to him, he grew with everyone else, saw what they saw, heard what they heard, and felt what they felt. This is the tae of a universe, built on a drill, and thats tengan toppa, thats gurren lagann.
I just finished Gurren Lagann just now, and it left me sad but happy at the same time. Just with 27 episodes it can make me love it so much and care with the characters. And this opening, I didn't skip it even once, I always sing along whenever it plays. And when this played the final battle, I felt so hype for the first time in a while. I'm sure I will rewatch this anime someday, such a masterpiece.
I remember when I was a little girl I caught this finale on Toonami. It was the scene where Kamina was sizing up Simon and I had no idea why the scene was so serious or what anime was at all.. Years later I watched this show on Netflix. Ignored the fan service and clinged to the courage and grind and strength of the show. Just fu**ING amazing. Then I saw the finale and was like "OMG I saw this scene when I was 6." To the people who didn't get to taste the fruits of their labor * a finger kiss salute*
I was playing a game that had two references to Gurren Lagann. Yoko's gun and an item called the infinity drill piece. Its Simone's core drill and does exactly what you think it does. But yeah. That got me to watch it years after I stopped it. I saw Yoko's rifle and couldnt help to laugh at how similar it looked. Same with the drill
I remember when a friend recommended this show to me back in middle school and I thought to myself “man Mecha shows are so boring I don’t think ill like this at all” many years later my whole perspective on the mecha genre shifted due to this show and this show is still on my top 5 of all anime I’ve witnessed and holds a very special moment place in my heart god I love Gurren Laggan so much
I’ve watched many animes and don’t expect lots, don’t share feelings for, and at the same time i always judge a book by its’ cover when it comes to some animes. Personally i have no interest in that “mech-type fighting action anime genre” but this anime is alot more than that when it comes to it’s story-writing, motivational words, and music. This anime was only 27 episodes and has made me felt attatched to the characters as well as understanding their obstacles to the point where i teared up throughout it, let alone the ending. I binged the entire thing in a day, and was always interested in seeing what happens next, literally never a dull moment. This anime is a straight masterpiece that i recommend everyone should watch especially if you’ve lost someone special who gave you motivation to keep going. I feel stronger mentally watching this and will never forget kaminas morals even as cheesy as it sounds by never giving up, believe in the you that believes in yourself, and not letting fate decide our outcome, we make our own tommorow even as little we can contribute a day to that tommorow you can definitely do anything if you put your mind to it. Thank you gurren lagann, you’ll always be in my top 3 animes for life, but truly within my heart with everyone else that meant something to me from my past, i’ll keep moving on til a better tommorow! 🦋🕊❤️🤍🎶✨

They should just give everyone a DVD set of Gurren Lagann at the suicide prevention center. This is just such a dopamine overdose that you, no matter who you are, no matter where you are, feel that no matter what comes in front of you, you can punt that shit into the extradimensional space.
My friend said this anime is childish cause of the mecha design, less characters, fast-pacing, kamina's nonsense speech, mindless action and it's simple plot. But this is my #1 tho.

Finished Gurren Lagan last night and can say absolutely it’s one of the greats. Amazing show that despite being goofy and silly provides some great themes about moving on from the death of a loved one and persisting in the face of fear. It also gave some of the most hype shit I’ve ever seen in an anime. 10/10 spin on boys.
It really is a timeless classic.

I just finished Gurren Lagann yesterday. Tears in my eyes many times throughout the series. I felt like I grew up with the characters. I was aggressively rooting for them in the final battle. whats crazy is that so many people choose not to get into this because "The show needs to catch them the first episode" i think thats a shallow way of gauging shows, because the pacing is genius. If you cant deal with the slow moments, you dont deserve the hype.
You only cry in moments of acute pain or when you've seen something beautiful.
I love this anime because it teaches a very basic yet very important lesson about hope: If you want to do something, don't let anything stop you. Don't let people stop you, don't let things stop you, don't let reality itself stop you. You just have to push forward, be better and evolve with every minute your heart beats. If you don't believe in yourself, then believe in the people who believe in you. Stubbornness, hope and strength is what made Kamina and Simon win against an impossible foe, so these same things will help you battle against someone impossible in your life as well. So... If you're out there somewhere, know this: I believe in you. So believe in me, because I believe in you.
It's not just about personal hope, but shared hope and share destiny... We are all brothers in the end, and humanity has a shared destiny, and we can't let anything stop us, least of all ourselves. We have to believe with all our might that we are the drill that will pierce the heavens... and all of those who died before us are cheering us on, their hands will be on ours when the winning blow is struck!

After more than 10 years, I can say that THIS is the thing that impacted my life the most. It changed me, profoundly. I used to be a shy guy who didn’t have faith in the world, who was often bored and who was scared of things. Today I kinda became a Simon to myself and a Kamina to others. I believe in myself and the others, and I’m in love with life. I feel like I found meaning through this masterpiece, more than any other piece of literature or philosophy. The authors will probably never know, but Gurren Lagann had an impact on an entire generation. If you didn’t watch the show yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it now. It may change your life as well.
Two men who do the impossible simply because no one could stop them. It had just about every trope you can think of, but it also proved these things resonate with humans on every level that's important. Thank you Gurren Lagann, for being awesome.

So much of this it hurts! People don't seem to understand that things are cliche for a reason. It works. While, yes, it is nice to try to subvert those cliches and tropes, something isn't inherently bad because it does use them.

There were lots of cliche moments in the show, for that is undeniable. Some it did and they were great. Some they did, but as a way of subverting it. Some it started itself. People forget how old the show is. Things that are cliche now, weren't necessarily cliche then. The show, at least in the first season (I have reservations about season 2), was a masterpiece.

When the lead character goes from being a timid little boy to being so hot-blooded that he kills a literal God in close quarters combat, there has been some character development.
When said lead character abandons infinite power, there has been some character growth.

This show was so ahead of its time, the characters weren’t even around that long yet they were so memorable, it truly was great while it lasted, thank you Gurren Lagann for all the memories.

Day 5 of rewatching Gurren Lagann after many decades. Not only just as good as I remember, it's even better.❤❤ This series got me through highschool. :')
Gurren Lagann did 27 episodes of what most anime currently can't do in a couple of seasons!
The anime is a perfect representation of humanity. We went from being cavemen, to having the ability to land a man on the moon.
Before the industrial revolution, we lived our lives strikingly similar to our ancestors. After that, people started to rightfully fear that we were developing too fast. Exception being that as human beings, we have the ability to teach.
Don't be ashamed when you inevitably fuck up. That is a lesson to be taught to the next generation.
Gurren Lagann is the biggest piece of .... Optimism , i have ever seen in my life . The most uplifting , most inspirational story i have ever witnessed . It kinda changed my entire worldview , just a year ago , when I first watched it , May 2021 . Also helped me get through family some drama ... I even have Simon's drill necklace , and wear it at important occasions . I will forever hold it near and dear to me . Thank you , Gurren Lagann .
The fact that this anime ended on a very satisfying way makes me love it more. It ended with me wanting more of it and that's why I'm glad it ended. Such a beautiful anime... so all good things have to come to an end. A beautiful ending.

It is also that why I dont want to see dragon ball and one pisce. There never end. I love storys with a start, middel and a ending. And gurren lagann, neon genesis evangelion. Revolutionary girl utena. Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. Hellsing ultimate. All Is under 100 ep. There just give you the greatest story there Can tell. With No stupid fillers that has No meaning to the story. The best is there end with you want more, but there are not give you more.

After 13 years since its release and 5 of those of me battling depression and beating Covid-19. I'm ready to become the man Simon and Kamina expects every TTGL fan to be.
I just finished rewatching this show after 8+ years, and it hits just as hard. Impossible to not get hyped up listening to this song
The only thing I hated about this show is that it ended.
But damn did it have a good ending. We got to see all the characters grow old into their badass selves and got to see the world Kamina fought for :’)
Better for it to end with one of the greatest endings to any anime rather than have it go to shit.
For me it ended what darling in the franxx should have. I saw darling first. I love darling, but the last ep was for me a pain to watch. The funny Thing i try to watch gurren first but I could not take the Two first ep serious so me and My friend stop watching it. I am in New York in vacation, and I have autism, so i have very Hard with all the new things. So I fund gurren on Netflix. Gurren has really help me with make the day out. After a Hard Day i always could look forward to watch gurren. And now I finish it 😭😭 and I still have five days left. I watch anime too fast. 😂 so thank you gurren lagann, to make My Day in New York much eariser.
@@MM2001k While I'm aware there are different ranges of autism. If this anime has taught us anything it's that the only limits are those we place on ourselves, whether we move on and grow is entirely down to our own will and determination.
Before you start I have a Multi-diagnosis which includes Autism, but it's by no means my worst disability. I dont let my Autism stop me from doing things I want to do.

This song has this raw, passionate power to it. It seems to embody the idea of going up against impossible odds, and continuing a loved one's legacy. I don't know if it feels that way because I have come to associate the song with the show's plot or what, but regardless the song is masterfully executed and emotionally powerful in its own right.
It's not the plot, I get similar vibes when listening to this completely out of context. Considering I barely remember alot of the plot in this anime.
Jus rewatched the final battle, and it almost brings me to tears remembering how this legendary anime shaped my childhood

I got light headed in the last episode. My fingers were feeling numb and swollen with trillions of tingling sensations going on. I never felt like I was near to fainting from an anime, or a show in general. I'm typing this comment one hour after finishing the series and I'm still feeling a bit light headed. Gurren laggan woke the kid in me, and I got to spend it with someone who has felt the same. This show will be an experience I'll never forget.
I'm going to watch it again, everytime I see atleast 1 reference, i go crazy. Like if someone wants a recommendation, I instantaneously say Gurren Lagann. In fact, I'm just forcing myself to rewatch it, I want to watch this without any memory, it'll be fucking magical.

This show kept each character different, they are all memorable, but kamina and Simon, they had the same character design, they where one person, one soul. They wherent just blood brothers, they where two incarnations of pure determination, they are spiral energy, they are the drill that advances, and evolve after every turn. From the clothes, to the glasses, to the mecha they fought in, begining and final forms, they where one. This show is not just a cartoon, it is a life story, a blessing, that sings the song of determination. From a little kid and his blood brother, to a being soo large galaxy's look like stars, gurren lagann expressed a message we all need, one that no one can be perfect without. It tells the tale of two people, kicking reason to the curb, and doing the impossible to show the universe they can. This show itself works like a drill, every episode, a new advancement, every character, new knowledge, even boota, a little pig mole who, without speaking for most of his known life grew, and when he could speak, he didnt need anybody to explain the universe to him, he grew with everyone else, saw what they saw, heard what they heard, and felt what they felt. This is the tae of a universe, built on a drill, and thats tengan toppa, thats gurren lagann.

I just finished Gurren Lagann just now, and it left me sad but happy at the same time. Just with 27 episodes it can make me love it so much and care with the characters. And this opening, I didn't skip it even once, I always sing along whenever it plays. And when this played the final battle, I felt so hype for the first time in a while. I'm sure I will rewatch this anime someday, such a masterpiece.
If it makes you sad then watch the movie. The ending is much better

I remember when I was a little girl I caught this finale on Toonami. It was the scene where Kamina was sizing up Simon and I had no idea why the scene was so serious or what anime was at all.. Years later I watched this show on Netflix. Ignored the fan service and clinged to the courage and grind and strength of the show. Just fu**ING amazing. Then I saw the finale and was like "OMG I saw this scene when I was 6."

I was playing a game that had two references to Gurren Lagann. Yoko's gun and an item called the infinity drill piece. Its Simone's core drill and does exactly what you think it does. But yeah. That got me to watch it years after I stopped it. I saw Yoko's rifle and couldnt help to laugh at how similar it looked. Same with the drill

Genuine cinema, really shows how one man can influence everything.
I remember when a friend recommended this show to me back in middle school and I thought to myself “man Mecha shows are so boring I don’t think ill like this at all” many years later my whole perspective on the mecha genre shifted due to this show and this show is still on my top 5 of all anime I’ve witnessed and holds a very special moment place in my heart god I love Gurren Laggan so much
I’ve watched many animes and don’t expect lots, don’t share feelings for, and at the same time i always judge a book by its’ cover when it comes to some animes. Personally i have no interest in that “mech-type fighting action anime genre” but this anime is alot more than that when it comes to it’s story-writing, motivational words, and music. This anime was only 27 episodes and has made me felt attatched to the characters as well as understanding their obstacles to the point where i teared up throughout it, let alone the ending. I binged the entire thing in a day, and was always interested in seeing what happens next, literally never a dull moment. This anime is a straight masterpiece that i recommend everyone should watch especially if you’ve lost someone special who gave you motivation to keep going. I feel stronger mentally watching this and will never forget kaminas morals even as cheesy as it sounds by never giving up, believe in the you that believes in yourself, and not letting fate decide our outcome, we make our own tommorow even as little we can contribute a day to that tommorow you can definitely do anything if you put your mind to it. Thank you gurren lagann, you’ll always be in my top 3 animes for life, but truly within my heart with everyone else that meant something to me from my past, i’ll keep moving on til a better tommorow! 🦋🕊❤️🤍🎶✨
