The opposite of narcissism is Accurate Self Appraisal and Accurate Appraisal of Others. It's when you neither downplay nor overexaggerate your genuine strengths or accomplishments and weaknesses or failures. You see yourself and others in a realistic way.

    • @curtsiburrowes4065
      @curtsiburrowes4065 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That's a trick too. All this relative stuff of strengths and weaknesses is just part of the web of socially constructed narcissistic illusions. You just are and you'll do what you do. The more you try to think you're accurate or realistic, it'll just turn into covert narcissism eventually thats kinda just the mainstream norm so we think its okay. Eventually, gotta let go. The truly humble aren't downplaying or exaggerating at all, they just aren't thinking about it - throwing out this relative measure of who they are. They just stopped playing that game.

By what standard do you measure your accuracy of appraisal? By what standard are you good? Better than the next guy? Better than average? The average of wherever society it is that you live compared to other societies which may have higher or lower standards?
Wouldn't the only objective standard be perfection?
I say this to tell you that God is the ruler of this universe and He gets first dibs on setting what is right. We know morality in our conscience that lying is wrong, adultery is wrong etc, humility is good, love is good, but have you ever held to the laws or your conscience perfectly for a single day in your life? No one has.
To say you believe in something accurate or objective but don't believe in God's law is unreasonable.
You won't ever see yourself accurately until you see that you're a sinner who's offended the God of this universe and that there's nothing you can do to redeem yourself by trusting in yourself. Only Jesus is worthy of trust because He lived sinless than died for sin.
I'm not saying this to "push religion" or whatever but to spread the simple truth that no one is right before God.

A spiritual person seeks connection with something greater than themselves, displaying empathy, humility, and a desire to help others. In contrast, a narcissist is driven by self-importance, lacks empathy, and craves admiration. While spiritual individuals might sometimes use language like "I am God" or "I am the creator," this is typically meant to express a sense of unity with the divine or the universe, not self-aggrandizement. It reflects an understanding of interconnectedness and shared divinity, rather than a belief in their personal superiority. Though both may exhibit confidence and influence, their core motivations and behaviors are fundamentally different. Their intentions and impacts on others are worlds apart.

EXACTLY!!!!!! Because the thing is we have the power on what we want to manifest but we not dumb and know God/angels/universe/ancestors are guiding us. Having a spiritual awakening is on going layer like an onion but we all are going through this and learning. But that’s not narcissistic trait. 🤣🙄 that’s a way of living in your truth and growing up spiritually. A lot of ppl haven’t felt a spiritual awakening and you gain different gifts within. It means learning to accept you are okay with dark and light. The balance of life. Duality. But also understand polarity in the world.😅 it’s a on going learning experience. But that sounds like level 3 he’s in the layer of opening your soul up during the ego death. I don’t know him personally but it’s layers to it.

Most narcissist are made narcissist by trauma either in childhood or prolonged trauma and adulthood. They made that way by delusions and abuse of society and the judgment and prejudice.. the fact that there is effort getting put in and they are exposing themselves, which is something they don’t do apparently is a huge deal. it’s a huge deal that they expose since everyone is afraid of them or hates them because there’s a type of abuse named after them when the truth is not all narcissist are abusive it’s a mental illness abusive people are abusive.

As if my vibe was too low and I was told I was playing the 'victim' as I was sad about it. I tried venting about it to a long time friend who always told me everything about what she and her family were going through. She shut me down and said I might need to speak to a therapist. So the conversation can't be about me and what I'm going through for once? I have stopped paying attention when she vents as well, and it feels like such a shallow friendship now.

I’m sorry you had that experience. I used to be really into the whole spiritual community but also got turned off by the holier than thou attitudes and condescension. I still pray and meditation and do my best to maintain my relationship to the divine and the mundane.
I agree that we are souls living out this experience, and that physical death is not the end, but your friends were wrong for putting you down over your grief. Spirituality is NOT all rainbows and sunshine and light and love. You have to do SHADOW work as well as light work. The simple fact is, your sibling died, and no matter where their soul may be or how connected the two of you may remain spiritually, they are not physically with you anymore. You will never embrace them or share a meal with them again in this lifetime. That is sad for you and the others your sibling left behind here. And you should absolutely allow yourself to grieve and heal in your own time.
I hope you are recovering. And although I don’t know you, I extend to you my love. Every community and ideology has a section of people who do not adequately understand or represent their own beliefs, and I hope I have shown you that the “spiritual world” is more than just fake, selfish love and and light virtue signalers. It can be and is much deeper and very real. You just have to find your own path to it. Consider it a blessing and a lesson that your friends showed their true colors.
Best regards and be good to yourself, from stranger on the internet

Ironically I went to a very chilled festival in the countryside this weekend and it reignitated some aspects of spirituality for me and the people were not pretensious and kind. I think there are different levels to spirituality that we all have to pass through. I myself have to look at my own judgement towards others and that's what this whole experience has taught me. I think there's a period where you believe you can only be positive and then you go deeper into the shadow work like you say (and I have done a lot of myself) to discover your parts

Spiritual people are one of the most best people you will ever come in counter with. You can bash New Age all you want, but the reality is most people are good people and wish no harm on others. On the other hand, there are some Christians that I like, but I have had more negative encounters with Christians than new agers.. It’s all about being humble and compassionate and being a calm individual. Narcissism stems from selfishness and lack of compassion for others do not categorize new ages as having those tendencies because that is far from the truth.. if you don’t wanna believe in spirituality that’s up to you that is your choice . we are all on different paths and we must not judge one another because the same path and the same learnings do not work for everyone.

“There’s a darkness upon me that’s flooded in light.. and I’m frightened by those who don’t see it”
Thanks for speaking on this it will trigger many but it’s NECESSARY I run across these types so much- if someone self titles themselves😔 I don’t put much into anything else they say🤷‍♂️
Being a “Spiritual healer” etc- has to be an attractive thing to people who only care about themselves- it’s basically giving them a Drs title with no real proof of anything, it drives that ego! And a true spiritual leader or person will always question ego, and what it brings up. Be careful- SM is flooded with false light workers and others with BPD calling themselves empaths to get ATTENTION! It’s an EASY way to get attention, or fit in, idk I look at what I have and idk if most would know what to do, and tbh I don’t all that often: but I gave all that over to the Divine nothing that comes from my energy is MY doing, I’m just a vessel willing to. As well as willing to accept and give energy to reach out to those hurting.. and even to expose fakes, liars and thieves. Idk why else I’m here I should not be, there’s something I’m supposed to do still.. Every time I think I find “Purpose” I end up realizing, no they just showed what you wanted I am coming from experience.. these types know how to play and manipulate energy, as well as get attachments as they open up TOO much, and use questionable practices. I think many are missing his point- he’s not saying all Spiritual people are narcissistic he’s saying it’s an attractive thing for a narc to want to act like! They have no empathy so, what better way to fake people? And when he said the thing about vivid stories of how they had something happen in a past life😂 keep telling yourself that🙈 and run and chase(why would someone turn on themselves in a past life for you, but not travel to see you in this one😂🤷‍♂️ because they know it’s not true) someone that loves you will get up and come when you ask even if they aren’t ready or know it’ll hurt them. So don’t let anyone tell you otherwise that travelling is too much🙏✌️⭐️ if it’s real nothings too much. Keep being you!💫❤️‍🩹

    Straight up!
I got out of a relationship with a narcissist. He was religious until I introduced him to spiritual practices and understanding. For reference, I'm a Pacific Native.
He always wanted to be the teacher but not the student. He wouldn't put the work into having a better understanding of what he started to preach to others. I had to constantly try and fix the b.s. he would tell others. He moved to Cali to start his spiritual practice.
I wish him the best, but I've seen the way he forces himself and half understandings on others. He always had a natural charm that would make people believe him easily. He would rather have the attention from spiritualism than anything else.
This guy used to put me down for how I saw the world until he knew what it would bring to him. It was weird and f'd up. Definitely learned a lot from that situation.

There’s a lot of people who seem really triggered in the comments but I really hear what you’re saying. I remember being a little kid and being sent to kindergarten and I was so taken aback when the teacher was asking the class “what do you want to be when you grow up?” And I was even more perplexed that my peers readily had answers for that when I had none because all I could think of was “what do you mean by that? I already am, what else would I be?” But through conditioning through public school and living in this modern society really drills it into your head that you have to do something or be something and it completely misses the point of what it means to BE here and have this experience and I’m also stuck in that web with everyone else so I get what you mean of how are we to try to detangle ourselves from this false narrative of what existence means especially when it’s so easy to get stuck in the same damn web time and time again in a myriad of ways. How do we get out of that? Especially when after years of being tangled that we forgot what it’s like outside of the trap and now that’s more intimidating because the trap has become more familiar and therefore more comfortable, yet at the same time, there’s an intrinsic part of us that knows we’re forgetting/missing something so fundamental and that’s so far beyond this physical reality. In short I get the point you’re trying to make lol

Your experience is no different than any spiritual person. You will find the truth, in time.

Most people don’t go through this stage until later in life, they spend most of their lives letting their ego control them. For many that awaken later in life, they find that they lived unfulfilled lives.

☯️ I am a spiritualist. I don’t subscribe to one religion or particular laid out path, but I do study and learn from many. There’s a reason the Bible says “the straight and narrow” ((which according to biblical scholars, straight doesn’t mean linear it’s actually another word for narrow lol))
I’m not sure I fully agree with each of the ways you’re labeling co-creation or I am principles as narcissism. But I do hear your heart and I do agree these are very important meditations.
☯️ it is a narrow path to remain in integrity and the path IS always moving/changing/expanding as part of the ever expanding universe.. to stay in harmony is a dance. Sometimes you explore and take charge or hold/experience your power, and sometimes, you reflect or step back. Sometimes you spring and summer. Sometimes you fall and winter.
I know I’m speaking metaphorically, but heart to heart, I hope my messages translate.

Yesssss!! I know so many people in the spiritual community and they are great people but in connecting through that community I have been exposed to some of the worst people. Spirituality has now become part of a class war and has been used to further survival of the fittest mentality. It has rampantly been overtaken by Christians who now think ascension is the rapture and attribute concepts they used to burn people for as their own. It’s maddening. And it’s all about money now. It’s all Ego. Spirituality is leaving behind the people who need it the most because they don’t have enough money or they are “low vibration” and acting like 5D Earth is an elite place when in reality it where we need to lift every single person to. Like if someone doesn’t manifest themselves out of poverty they aren’t trying hard enough. It’s garbage thinking. So thank you so much for this.

Saying “I am the creator” is not narcissistic. We are all one, and we are all a fragment of the creator. It is our divine right to create our life the way we want to. I agree that it should not be done through controlling/manipulative means, but only the ego is capable of that. We are the higher self, and surrendering to it just means allowing it to enter your being in this human body. You are either asleep to it, or embodying it. The “you” you speak of is a false identity in itself. Yes, your ego is not god, and if it does identify as god, then it will present as narcissism. But YOU are not the ego. You are awareness itself. The deeper you go into this awareness, the more you will see
    our own infinite potential.

What I fail to see are people claiming themselves as children of this planet and actually caring about Earth and the beings on it.
The second big thing I see people miss is that the point isn’t to be separated from “the matrix” but to live with duality. So our souls must toil with our jobs while figuring out how we can remove suffering from ourselves and the planet.

But there are good ones too. Even if a small amount. This is a demonic World, you are right. Evil ppl pretend they aren't evil here. This is truly an evil World. So it makes it hard for ppl to care for another persons pain, because it's difficult to know who to trust. But it's never right to treat ppl disrespectfully without a reason of defense. There is a good side to everything. Which means there are good, bad, and evil narcissist homie. You gotta do more research within and without, and go deeper. Most ppl aren't thst deep but take a little bit of information and run with it impulsively. I think you have mad potential for one, because you are honest about how evil the World is. I am only afraid of those who are in charge, who aren't truly and DEEPLY good ppl. Good spiritual ppl are telling you that you are God as well as them. It's common sense. And common sense is very prominent. We are creation, because we came from The Creator. But also whatchu said about Christ Conscious etc is true, as all things have truth to them. Jesus love is real. And I agree, God is my cognitive. Everybody's journey is different. As long as it is based on unconditional and genuine love, that's all that matters. 8 billion different personalities; 8 billion different journeys.

This is the problem with you new Christians. You literally make no sense. The Bible doesn’t say we are all everything individually and as a whole. You’re so self absorbed that you don’t see how dumb it is to say that. If we all are everything why would it fucking matter if it was as an individual or as a whole 😂. Jesus literally tells us in The Bible NOT TO ADD TO THE WORD OF GOD. Your attempting to over simplify what the Bible teaches which is exactly what not to do. People like you would rather lie to yourselves so you can avoid the fact that your uneducated about the book you praise. Rather than opening the book and understand the Bible IN ITS FULL CONTEXT you avoid it because it helps you sleep better just making it up and calling it “your own relationship with god”. All you did was tie a bunch of sentences together that all make separate points. When you say we’ve been brainwashed your right but you don’t even realize you’re using the Bible the same way corrupted churches used it to manipulate the world. You’re over simplifying it and taking it completely out of context to justify the decisions you make. Please educate yourself on the academic understanding of religion. If you did you would know the origins of the word spirituality and that it was created by religious people that separated from the church and decided to practice the Bible without the popes or priests controlling the narrative. It’s important to explain things in context instead of what you commented. I’m sick of seeing you new age spiritual Christians butcher the words and understanding of the Bible.

I am sorry you had that experience. The true spirituality is when you learn to introspect and control your inner world. The external world you are not in control of however how you respond to it is what you are in control of. Yes people who come off as narcissist have a lot to work on. It is not about you but it is about others. Love, peace and compassion, respect etc. It is best to help yourself before helping others. You can’t pure from an empty cup. I am the creator of my inner world. I choose to love myself and others, to empathize with others, to be caring, to respect others and I respect myself, how I behave around others and be careful of my words. Because I believe I am what I project genuinely. All of this is genuine. Also we are all in this world we have to learn to accept our shortcomings.

I agree with you! And this very much applies to politics. How is it that In the US we can have “separation of church and state “ while also imposing laws based on these principles. Only until 2015 was same sex marriage legalized. This is aside from getting married in the church, but having a civil union, aka a government office. Yet in the workplace can’t discriminate against religion, sex, sexual orientation or race. Same things with public schools. Bibles should NOT be present in schools. This isn’t coming from my own opinion not being at all religious. But if people in this country have the right to religious freedom, that should include NOT being religious. Yet in the state of Texas and other states, you can’t run for public office if you aren’t religious. The hypocrisy is real.

The ego is neutral. However, It is influenced by given circumstances, experience, trauma and matrix society. Ego is not good or bad, but it is a reflection of a sequence of events. You need ego to live in this 3D realm, just like the spirit/soul needs a spiritual physical body to experience. When you renew you mind, your ego will renew itself as well.

Spirituality & narcissism are opposites. Actual spiritually requires empathy the one thing narcissists don’t have. Spirituality is about letting go, flowing with & co creating with the universe. It sounds like u didn’t really experience real spirituality but more of the same attachments u always had. Go with the light. I hope wisdom finds you.

I see where you’re coming from but I don’t think manifesting a better life for yourself makes you a narcissist, if it’s for gain like money or usually unrealistic things then that’s when it would show more in a different kind of way, it doesn’t work in the way you expect it too, it gives you things to be grateful for to remain present, other things could show up but doesn’t work like that, well not for me anyway, it’s not going to just give you literal money you have to work for it!
I guess it comes with everything in moderation, some spiritual people are great! I know both if that makes sense.
I do know some people who expect far too much and they portray themselves as all love and light and get disappointed and lack empathy when you can’t meet their standards, so i definitely feel that. 😅 I have a circle of friends who’s in that spirituality kind of bubble and they never think they’re wrong and definitely are a bit “look at me” kind of energy, I do keep them at a distance now because it was very draining, I’ve learned to just let them be and that’s me noticing the unhealthy traits.
There’s always bad and then there’s good people in every group, some believe that being a better person is by definition being better and using the spiritual stuff in a positive light always makes me feel comfort. I don’t think I have an ego about that, I always come with no expectations and I can respect it but not completely delve deeper into it because i understand that it can be difficult to differentiate them I guess, if it’s for personal gain for example. My spiritual journey is usually my own I don’t usually tell people or make them feel gaslighted in any certain situation I’m not their therapist either and I do call out bad behaviours if it’s necessary.
What makes you a narcissistic is attempting to be in a state of always playing the victim and never looking inward, I get that can make some people stuck, but trauma is the cause here, when things don’t go your way, seeking validation of course they want to portray themselves in a good light, and it comes off as fake, which I totally get with the whole woke movement, people want to feel included they all are able to take a step back and re evaluate, most eventually realise that drugs cause more problems, some people are full of shit too and you do pick them out quite quickly, when you can see their mask slipping.
I think it comes with how your body dealt with certain situation in your own psyche when you were growing up. Being self aware though is a powerful thing though. Generational trauma in childhood also makes more a people pleaser than a narcissist. So I guess it depends on the person and how they deal with escapism or if they can be sober to find themselves.
I do see both side of things, doesn’t make me a bad person to want a better healthier existence and surroundings and I get the whole hurt people hurt people thing that’s where I take people at face value then.
i have a lot of hippies in my friend group and they can be really nice people but they aren’t necessarily healed either so I get that point completely. For me that’s a positive way to look at it and I give back just as much as I get. But that’s taken years of therapy to correct, interesting take nonetheless.
Sorry for the rant but just my take on it all 😅

according to Dr. Ramani, everyone has narcissistic traits. Having Narcissistic Personality Disorder, however takes a professional to diagnose a person who shows Lack of empathy, grandiosity, a chronic sense of entitlement and a chronic need to seek out admiration from other people and validation from other people.

    This leads to
Spiritual narcissism. When you lead in ultimate love, things automatically align, and you receive.
