The British Ship Captain Buried in the Middle Of A Street In Ghana

  • On August 27, 1913, a British ship with the name SS Bakana capsized at Half Assini in the Western Region of Ghana.
    According to historical details, the British passenger/cargo ship SS BAKANA was built in 1894 by Naval Construction & Armaments, Barrow England for the British & African S.N.Co Ltd (Elder, Dempster)
    The ship was carrying a cargo of wood to Liverpool, England, and was wrecked on August 17th, 1913 at Half Assini.
    Residents of the former Half Assini found Captain Richard Willians and performed the necessary rituals and then decided to bury his body on the outskirts of the town which is today the main Half Assini township.
    The wreckage is over 102 meters long and is still visible today after 111 years.

      According to him, the gods sank the ship because it was making noise when they they were trying to think of how to help community.
