I prefer the Flower's of Robert Maplethorpe. That game has so much more action to it and the story is deeper, too. But it can still learn from Sailing - the character development there is great!
It also had the saddest video game death in all of anime!

Sailing, a "fully interactive" CD game.
Things like this taught me as a kid that "interactive" had the exact opposite meaning compared to what the word really meant.
It was the very early 1990s, there were no DVD players.

Philips should of funded more games and encouraged support. No one wanted to make games for it due to how odd the console is built. How the internals are structured is odd. It becomes harder to code for it. The wiiu had a similar fate even though it was a solid console.

Speaking of battery life guys, the CDi has a suicide battery in it and after 20 years the system wouldn't turn on any more so you have to replace the watch battery and that's a pain in the ass lol.

I don't think CD i was the worst console because it wasn't actually meant to be game console. Phillips originally made the system to be multimedia system with potential, but it tried to be a game console with Mario and Zelda games. The worst console would be R Zone or RCA Studio II, CD I was like the precursor to a DVD player.
Studio II gets a bad rap in my opinion, there are enthusiasts who appreciate it today, but it bombed in 77. CDi though did try to be a home console with their later console models being more compact and the controllers being more like a game controller instead of a remote. R-Zone is just a wanna be virtual boy lol
Soup or Nintendo? RCA made the console hard to hook up and the system controllers were on the console. Games aside, the system was poorly designed, the controller input were awkward.
No, the Studio II absolutely deserves the bad rap. The controllers are just phone buttons embedded into the console itself; there's no sound output to the television, just an internal sound chip that was capable of three (?) tones; it couldn't display color; and they had to use an external switch box/power box because they couldn't pass safety standards with the power unit inside the system itself. It might have been an okay system if it had been released five years earlier, but by the time they released it Bally, Emerson, APF, and Fairchild all had *vastly* superior products on the market and Atari was just months away from changing the industry altogether.
*PROTIP:* Use the konami code on both game title screens for unlimited continues!

The CD-i isn't a great console, but if I had one I could probably have a good amount of fun with it. It's got ports of Myst, Tetris, Space Ace, The 7th Guest, Dragon's Lair, Defender of the Crown, Pac-Attack, Micro Machines, Lost Eden, Mad Dog McCree, Flashback, and Lemmings, it's got a Namco arcade compilation of Galaxian and Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga and some other compilations of arcade clones including Defender and Space Invaders and Arkanoid and Centipede and even pinball, it's got adaptations of board games like Axis & Allies and Backgammon and Chess and Battleship and Connect Four and Clue and Go and Othello and Labyrinth and Scrabble, it's got some decent exclusives like Thunder In Paradise and Burn Cycle and Laser Lords and Hotel Mario and of course the CD-i Zelda games, and it's got a lot of other miscellaneous stuff, mostly in the sports and adventure and family and rail shooter genres.
Burn:Cycle was a great game, loved it as a teen! Watched a playthrough just recently , hasn't aged greatly but a fantastic movie - length experience. I enjoyed the 7th Guest as well, although played that on PC as well
The only time I played a CDI was when they had one on display at Service Merchandise. It seemed really shitty, even in 1994. I think the controller was more like a remote control.
"Like a remote control". Exactly. I don't think Philips knew whether they wanted to develop a video game console or an interactive learning tool. So they created a strange hybrid which didn't succeed in either category. Commodore's CDTV suffered from the same problem.

Burn Cycle, Apprentice (not to be confused with Merlin's Apprentice), and Mutant Rampage. Unfortunately they're overshadowed by the amount of steaming garbage that composes the library.
You should try Burn Cycle! It's a really decent game on CDi (played it many times). It's very much like Blade Runner.

After seeing the games, I don't think CD-i is technically a video game system. It is just for video references. Its strong suit was how-tos like this one, and museum tours.

Man i loved the CD-i, Burn:Cycle, Dragon's Lair, ... able to play videoCD's, Audio CD's. Sure there were crap games on it, but at the time it was a great all in one system.
