Cali WRX it doesnt matter what year you get for the brembo calipers? cuz i have a 2012 wrx and planning to upgrade it with brembo, but i dont know if what year is the best brembo calipes i should get.
Nice vid. Just two things I'd like to point out for the bleeding process which is 1) you'll want to bleed the system from the point farthest away from the master cylinder and work your way to the closest, i.e. rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, and lastly front driver. And 2) any caliper with 2 bleeders (such as the brembos) you'll want to bleed the inside first then the outside one in that order.
Hey man thank for the post it was very helpful. I do have on question, did you run into any issues with the E-brake? I have been trying to find out and cant get a straight answer.
man you have built your car nicely! i just bought a wrx. and am looking up to you for the possible mods in future. brake kit is little steep for now. Right now i shall just do complete maintenance and next summer ill do sti brake kit and white rims and new tires.
So i don’t need to mix match year model STI’s brembos ? I heard of doing 04-07 STI’s on front and 08-14 sti on rears Can someone confirm that I can use 08-14 sti calipers for front and rear please thanks that way I don’t. Have to source out to different year models
i know this is old and you probably dont keep up with the comments anymore but are the rotors and wheels also 5x114.3? i see the other pattern of holes i just wanted clarification on that. Thank you in advance!
Hi, awesome vid and mod job. Question: How did you fit larger front rotors with the Brembo caliper without new adapters? Doesn't that change the contact area between the pads and rotors compared to the original rotors? I have a Levorg Sti and found a set of these GRB calipers, but not sure what size rotors to get. Any info is much appreciated.
jealous of the wheels from 7 years ago. difficult to find chunky/thick spokes in 2024. Closest is Enkei's 7-spoke Ultraform. I want more than 6 spokes and 6-spoke TE/Grid wheels don't do it for me. 🏁
Can you give me a link for parts please I have 2013 wrx hatch and I want to upgrade my brakes and question can I use my factory wheels that I have on my car or would I have to get STI wheels I like to keep mine looking stock so I can sleep on ppl 😂😂😂
I have stainless steel brakelines on my 2011 WRX and was told I'd need new lines to fit these calipers but it looks like you used the same ones. True or false?
I want to add that I went to do this to my 09 wrx. The 08-14 sti rotors won’t fit the 08-14 wrx. You need to either drill the rotors from the 08-14 sti to 5x100 because sti rotors are 5x114.3. Also stock rims won’t clear the brembos which would have been nice to know. Just a heads up for those wanting to upgrade.
@@catzbunn I must have missed that about the rotors which is no big deal because I can get my sti rotors drilled for less than buying dba rotors. I went back and didn’t hear anything about buying 04 sti rotors but now it’s too late because I bought them already. As far as the rims I didn’t know they would not work to be honest.
@@catzbunn Yeah bro just trying to save for rims. I would then need to get adapters to go from 5x100 to 5x114.3. I spent quite of bit on the wrx lately. Did the mishimoto oil cooler with the thermostatic plate which wasn’t cheap, the IAG aos, cooling mod, tbw skid plate.
So I got mishimoto 15mm wheel spacers with built in studs. Question for you. I’m keeping my stock brake lines. The rear brake lines should work with my sti brembos correct? I am done installing the front sti brembos and about to start on the rear but wanted to ask if those rear lines are fine. Thanks Update: Went to do the rears today and got everything done, but the stock brake lines won’t work with the Sti brembo calipers. There is a bend on the stock lines which won’t connect to the sti calipers. I tried to click on your link for the rear lines, but it says “page not found”.
you got your self a subscriber!!! great video!. but, so that I understand before I go and buy all the parts, may I ask you a few questions.? For the front I'm going with the Cadillac cts V swap. but for the rear i'm looking for an 08+ rear sti brembo caliper? and 08+ sti rotors? which should fit ad a direct bolt on, to my 2010 wrx? because I want my rotors black all the way around. any insite would be greatly appreciated. as i know absolutely no one else with a wrx. also, You sick car btw. thanks guys.
wow, quick response. that's crazy! but thanks, I'll look into 04 sti black rotors. also, the caliper it self should fit with no special "bracket" needed? and last question :) I noticed yours look new? I'm guessing those cost around $1200 for the rear kit? cause I might go used and recondition them. hopefully
Sure. You need the rotors he has with both bolt patterns, bigger rims than stock GRs, and until I watched this video, I would've thought you'd have needed the kartboy rear adapter..
I personally was always taught to bleed starting from the Farthest away from the reservoir moving to the closest. while constantly keeping an eye on it to make sure it never get's to low on brake fluid .
"Caliber"... says it all really 0.o Not bothering to wire brush clean the hub surface before installing the new rotor, using tapered wheel nuts to seat the rotor (use a regular nut with washers if you feel the need to actually do this), soaking painted surfaces with brake cleaner (DBA specifically advise against this and suggest you just wipe the actual rotor face with brake cleaner). Don't even get me started on the ghetto cutting of the rear shielding... Thanks man! Very straight forward, simple. Hardest part was probably getting the car up on all 4 jack stands lol.

Surprisingly the matte gray works well with the green wheels.

Will the WRX caliper mounting hardware fit on The STI calipers?
what are the Dba rotor part numbers for the front and rear?

Why bleed it with pads out ? Helps get more bubbles out and how did the pistons go back in caliper to put pads in ?
also did you use the oem wrx caliper mounting bolts?
Wheel and caliper clear good?
You should add in your description what you exactly bought model # and all. It would help out everyone interested in doing something like this.

on the front break, do you put the pads in before you pump the fluid in or no

Hi,sir would like to ask u a question that can a oem sti brembo (2008+) caliber fit on 2008 2.5i non turbo?
Love this swap!!! Looks great, where did you get the STI Stickers? I'd love to do the same!!!
Did your have to use aftermarket or Sti/oem mounting brackets?
HI man, nice video. The caliper just bolt on the car? Does it need the kit for the caliper to fit on the spindle? Thanks
No adapter needed to fit the rotors.
I'll have a video up soon explaining everything you need.
+Cali_WRX thanks for reply. Keep all the good video up
Buen trabajo!!.😊
where do you get those little screw type things that go on the calliper where you bleed out the air?
It’s a caliper.. not a caliber
Will these brakes fit the stock 17 inch wheels on a 2013 wrx?
Same thing I want to ask will it fit 2010 17 stock wheels
"caliber" lol
Did the front rotors work for the 5x100 bolt pattern
can you install sti or wrx calipers on a 09 impreza 2.5i?
There other videos for this ?
Did your use adapters to go from 5x100 to 5x114.3?
Never ran 5x114
I'm looking at putting brakes off an STI on my 2008 WRX. Same question - how do we go from 5x100 to 5x114.3??
What wheels were you running? Specs? Are they rotas p1rs? I have a similar set up wanted to make sure they cleared before I do the same thing.
These are not rotas, they are work emotion XD9's. 18x9+38
Just one step closer to track duty.
I wanna go so bad. Got the dates haha
Are these the same as the black calipers with the "STI" sticker on them that come installed on newer STI's? Or the older gold painted Brembos?
Correct 2008+

You'll want to find rotors that are double drilled to fit 5x100 that are Sti size. Usually 04 Sti rotors fit perfectly.
wow, quick response. that's crazy! but thanks, I'll look into 04 sti black rotors. also, the caliper it self should fit with no special "bracket" needed? and last question :) I noticed yours look new? Did you use 08+ sti calipers and 04 sti rotors?
Hi i just want to know ... From What year are those calipers...they are 5x100..Ty✌🏻️
Do you mean rotors? The rotors are drilled for 5x114 and 5x100.
Can you do this swap on a 2015+ wrx. Will that fit with 17” wheels or only will fit with 18”
will not clear stock 17s, need either the stock 18s or aftermarket 18"+
Sick man!!
Thanks man!
What are your wheel specs? And would the stock wrx rims have clearance of the Sti break calipers?
18x9 +38. Stock wheels will not clear.
how the hand brake work?
Would i be able to do this on a 2012 Subaru WRX Sedan? These same exact parts?
yes
vr nice
what is that exhaust?
Where did you buy the sti calipers? If you don't mind me asking

Question??do u have to change the hubs???the hubs is 5*100,,the STi is 5*114..??
Mo Mo the rotor has both hub bolt patterns on them, hence ten holes on the hat and not just 5

Sure. You need the rotors he has with both bolt patterns, bigger rims than stock GRs, and until I watched this video, I would've thought you'd have needed the kartboy rear adapter..
LOL the way he cut that shield. Ghetto mans way, you get my like for that because its something i would do!

What tool did you use to cut the rear brake dust cover?
tin snips
anyone run the sti front brakes with stock rear wrx 1 pot calipers? I can't afford all 4 calipers at once lmao debating it..
Would works d9r fit over brembo? 18x9.5?
Most likely yes. Works are known for fitting over Brembos.

Thanks!
Great job, but you did not specify the proper torque settings, anti-seize on the brake pads, and lube on the guide pins.
Were you running 17 or 18 inch wheels?
18 inch
@@catzbunn barnacles.... i was hoping I could fit my 17" wheels over these
The proper way is to always bleed the inner bleeder first then the outer one with brembo calipers
We bled the brakes a total of 4 times all around. So if you were just doing it once, then sure.
Aren't you supposed to follow a specific order in bleeding calipers
This is what I was told to do.

Do you make the video for people not to learn?
You gotta paint the calipers red otherwise you are not getting the full hp potential.
Gonna brake necks now
Thats never been an issue lol.
The rotor doesn't need to be "seated" it's seated when you torque your wheels haha
I think that's done to hold in place and properly mouth the knuckles
Have some questions about the bleeding process.. you have an email I can msg you at?
It bothered me that you kept sayin caliber but you knew what you were doing lol so it makes it kind of okay
They sound similar enough hehe
