Ok, hear me out I randomly came across the album "Classical Current" and I discovered that one of the pieces, "The Lamp is Low", is actually the one sampled and used here, but it doesn't stop here, since I also discovered that "The Lamp is Low" itself took its melody from Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante défunte" So, this is literally more than 100 years of music combined It's a bit random, but I thought I'd share it because I found it really beautiful

Back in college I had a radio show called “City Sounds” and this song was the intro song to the show. I would talk about every genere of rock, hip-hop and anything in between. I didn’t had a really big audience but for 1 hour I would be in total musical bliss.

One month ago, I was listening this in car, and it catched my grandpa's attention. He said that it was familiar, so I said that is an arrangment of The lamp is low, by Almeida. We searched and we discovered that Almeida did a cover, so we listened the original. My grandpa was an hornist, and he was really happy, 'cause it realised that The lamp is low has the theme of "Pavane pour une infante défunte", one of his favourite piece for horn. It is a very reminiscing melody. I dunno much about music and theory but it gives that tone and there is some nostalgia, sorrow, and calm. It takes me to the time, growing up in the old neighborhood, and like someone said in the comments, you think there won't be a better time than that time.
I had this on a CD 20 years ago and would fall asleep nightly to it on repeat, it was such a calming and relaxing song for me to listen to, man. So excellent to hear it again 20 years later and bring back all those positive memories.

I distinctly remember listening to this on a summer vacation night at a beach. Alone, staring contentedly at the pale white moon as its light reflected off the rippling waves. Nujabe's music has this possessing effect on me during late hours of the night, forcing me to stare blankly out of window or any open space for an unhealthy amount of time.
It took 4 tries for this song to load, but now I understand it was worth it to rehear this song once more before it fades in and out of my memory. Maybe this is the last time I'll ever hear the song, maybe not. Someone could comment here and I'd get reminded, maybe not. I’ve been looking for this song for at least 15 years, and I finally found it. I heard it in high school and forgot the name. Most beautiful track ever.
This song awakens the oldest memories of a woman I used to love. Long before we grew so bitter. Long before we abused each other. I always wondered what makes people keep going back to the ones who mistreat them. After fourteen long years of being with her, I finally understand. We keep thinking of them not as they are, but as the person they used to be. And in our eyes, they are still beautiful. The ugliness we see in the present is not _really_ who they are--or at least, that's what I kept telling myself. I haven't spoken to her in five years now. I think she might have taken her life. She disappeared from the world like she never existed except for the memories she left behind, good and bad. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and wish it all could have been different.

One of the most magical things about music is the way it can transport you to a time and place. More than nostalgia, it’s a chilling effect that puts your mind into the same frame as it was when you first connected to the sounds hitting your ears. For me, my first exposure to Samurai Champloo was freshman year of college in 2014, watching this in my dorm with friends, experimenting with drugs and possibly the last year of my life without very real stresses of adulthood. I’ll never forget samurai Champloo for the atmosphere it cultivated and the connection to these characters through amazing music, storytelling, and voice acting. Makes me tear up thinking about who I was and who I became since that time. RIP Nujabes, truly an unforgettable artist who took samples and hip-hop and refined it all into a vibration outside of time and space - filled with bliss and adventure and wonder. The hair on my arms is standing straight up as I write this.

I feel the same. For me this song represents those special times when you get to spend time with loved ones. Often when a fun trip or visit is coming to an end this song will play in my head and I try to savor the moment but there is sadness over the impermanence of it as well.

We searched and we discovered that Almeida did a cover, so we listened the original.
My grandpa was an hornist, and he was really happy, 'cause it realised that The lamp is low has the theme of "Pavane pour une infante défunte", one of his favourite piece for horn.

It is a very reminiscing melody. I dunno much about music and theory but it gives that tone and there is some nostalgia, sorrow, and calm. It takes me to the time, growing up in the old neighborhood, and like someone said in the comments, you think there won't be a better time than that time.
I had this on a CD 20 years ago and would fall asleep nightly to it on repeat, it was such a calming and relaxing song for me to listen to, man. So excellent to hear it again 20 years later and bring back all those positive memories.

More than nostalgia, it’s a chilling effect that puts your mind into the same frame as it was when you first connected to the sounds hitting your ears. For me, my first exposure to Samurai Champloo was freshman year of college in 2014, watching this in my dorm with friends, experimenting with drugs and possibly the last year of my life without very real stresses of adulthood. I’ll never forget samurai Champloo for the atmosphere it cultivated and the connection to these characters through amazing music, storytelling, and voice acting. Makes me tear up thinking about who I was and who I became since that time. RIP Nujabes, truly an unforgettable artist who took samples and hip-hop and refined it all into a vibration outside of time and space - filled with bliss and adventure and wonder. The hair on my arms is standing straight up as I write this.
