Wow, totally fantastic. I have never heard this before. Monk is one of the greatest geniuses of the piano of all time, in my opinion. His musical mind is so original and so inventive. His influence is far greater than most people realize.
Hello Vincent, thank you sharing this with all of us. Chick Corea played this very blues for me on the piano before a concert in the Herbst Theater in S.F. in 2015 in honor of McCoy Tyner, that Mr. Tyner, himself, participated in. Chick mentioned the album and song title, and played the melody of the opening 2 choruses for me. Of course, from there he took it to his own place, but as I'm sure you're well aware, Chick adored Monk and counts him as one of his most important influences. Only now did I make the connection that we were in S.F., where this album was recorded, at the time. #sanffranciscoholiday #worrylater
@@sorwell Indeed it's all a privilege, dear Vincent, including seeing you share this transcription with the world, "Evidence" of a fellow lover of this music, and my getting to relay an anecdote - all this thanks to Thelonious Sphere Monk!
Amazing transcription. This is most likely Monk’s greatest improvised blues recording. It has every great element that defines his style rolled into one blues improv. Great job. I noticed the detail in how you notated the rhythms.
