I would really agree that Banger was a big Influence in the last half of the decade for a lot of younger metal heads. Banger is particularly good at championing classic death and black metal, as well as introducing us to newer stuff. Some of my favorite new bands have come from religiously listening to records s featured on overkill reviews.

After thinking for some time, I say that TH-cam is the MVP of metal for the last decade. It is the only place for me to discover bands and it has led me to buy a lot of music and merch. Not only can you find 99% of the music, you can also watch docs and interviews of the bands. I am so thankful that Banger constantly puts out content on this platform.

How did "Atheist - Jupiter" not get mentioned in the comeback albums section? Also "Satan - Life Sentence," "Autopsy - Macabre Eternal," "Accept - Blood of the Nations," "Angel Witch- As Above, So Below," "Sleep - The Sciences," and countless others.

@@THEEArmoredSaint Fair point. I suppose, re-reading my comment, it comes off as kind of negative which is not what i intended. I simply wished they had given a shoutout to the aforementioned albums. However, it was still a great episode. And thank you! \m/

Possessed put out a stellar album, combining riffs and aggression from the 80s in a modern way. Jeff Bacera showed us forceful aggressive vocals that reintroduce both rasp and intonation into death metal with vocal hooks that stand with riff hooks. The answer to disjointed riff song writing and monotone weak give me Cookie or teenage temper tantrum screeching.

Guys. Please listen to the Danish band Baest! As danes we are located in the center, surrounded by the metal-giants Sweden, germany and Norway. This means that the few awesome new bands we have don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Portal is certainly worth a mention as important to the past decade. Their 2000's albums, along with others like Dead Congregation and strong showings from much of the old guard from the 90's, paved the way for them to be the leaders of the OSDM sound from the last ten years.

I would be missing way too much in terms of ‘best X’ of the decade, but for me the stand out has to be Mariner by Cult of Luna. I was just getting into Post Metal and it just clicked when that album came out. It’s been such an inspiration and made me want to get back into writing and thus I formed my band. That album and Sunbather have been such incredible influences for me and I feel like I really found myself musically through those albums.
Also a big shoutout to Banger once again stepping up their game. Great editing and just a really good episode with plenty of depth and content, but still to the point. You’ve been very important for me as well this past decade!

I know it’s not as “metal” as this channel typically prefers but, Chester Bennington’s death should be mentioned as a noteworthy story of the last decade along with the others. Additionally, Warped Tour ending could’ve been talked about. I know it’s roots are in punk, but it helped get a lot of the younger generation, including myself, into metal.

a review of the decade in metal without any mention of any doom metal or black metal, no mention of the growth of trad metal. That's weird. I feel like this video should be called "a decade of metalcore/deathcore/tech death in review." I know these are already filmed but I'd suggest more diversity in hosts for a review of a decade. Instead of 2 metalcore guys maybe bring in blayne, or sarah, or dylan because the decade happened to black metal, doom metal, and prog metal too.
P.S. Just advice not a complaint. I liked Dillinger and Converge back in the day too, but there are other bands and genres

39:07 just some facts about Aborted - Strychnine.213 (the so called 'shakiest' release). This is the album that got me into Aborted, however. And after many years, I also concluded that the songwriting and production are quite off. BUT, did you know this album was voted (in Belgian extreme metal subculture forumboards) as the best Belgian metal record of 2008? Yes, it's kinda like an accessible Carcass (Heartwork/Swansong) and sometimes reminds of Soilwork (Stabbing The Drama), but it's Aborted at it's most mainsteam, yet maintaining some degree of extremity, and a decent gateway extreme metal album. Just had to get that off my chest. In 11 years I've seen so many Strychnine bash comments ... Holy crap...

Zeal & Ardor should be there next to the best new bands. They have showed that there is still a lot of new ways to experiment with metal even if it seems to be unmatchable

Yeah, Z&A stand out for sure as an outlier. Then making it work on the second album even more. A coup.

Can't wait for the Top 10 Albums of the decade review video, but on the other hand I think I'll be very disappointed with what people have voted for...
    Wait and see!

it's pretty hard to pick up one best album of a decade... it'll be harder to pick up one release from Japanese visual kei bands of a decade I have to say cuz, they produce music by counting months instead of years like most ones of rest of the world. you think one full-length or ep of 2 years is normal, 3 or 4 or even more is a headache of waiting, then try Japanese visual kei (there are also metal bands in this scene)... Vidoll ever released two full-lengths and three eps in only one year (2003 or 2004 around), Diaura, Mejibray also did that ever...
and what a shame that no one mentioned other great black metal bands except Mayhem in this episode.

Sam is at war with reality if he thinks that SOTS is not At the Gates' finest work.

Eh, people can have differing opinions. SotS is definitely their most influential release, but I personally prefer The Red in the Sky Is Ours.

How they managed to speak of Metal Crossovers and not mentioning Igorrr?!? I don´t get it. - Okay, You can state that they are not really a Metal Band, and You might have a point to convince purists, but You cannot say in any way, that they don´t sound Metal at times, and i´m not speaking of some light kind of Hard Rock crossovering into Metal, no, this is full force blackened Death Metal Soundwalls, so really Metal for Metalheads, and it´s not occasionally happening once in a while, but practically in every Track they do ... So really something You as a Metalhead might be able to enjoy, if You are open minded enough to also dig into all this electronic beats (also quite Hardcore) and the folky and Baroque stuff, that they also do, exceptionally well perfomed.
To me this definitely qualifies as a Metal Crossover Project.
Let´s see how they speak about them in 10 years.
... and Clown Core! ....... well okay, they do have even less Metal in their sound, but the humour is definitely humour for Metal fans.
Favourite Albums? - Definitely Terminal Redux by Vektor - The best Thrash Release since Rust in Peace, though Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch is a solid runner up. Still growing in importance to me.
