The discussion surrounding the Agents is so fascinating and confusing to me. Everyone talks about them as important characters to the series the way they are beloved and desired to reappear... They’re just the player character. A silent protagonist for the player to see themselves in. Why would they even want to keep engaging in actual war against the octarians or other evils? Just play peaceful turf war. Especially 8; it makes sense they’d continue to be friends with OtH, maybe even Craig and Cpt 3, but I don’t see them returning to the life of combat they left their home to escape. Side Order handled their inclusion pretty well, but realistically it could’ve been any Ink/Octoling who got hacked in and faced the tower. 4 on the other hand makes very little sense to be in SO as they never had any connection to the cast of Octo Expansion. That’s why 4 exists, Marie needed someone while they were doing their own thing. Why wouldn’t OtH ask 3 for security help, especially since they showed their skill when saving 8 and fighting under Tartar’s control. Ultimately, I assume a large contributor to the agent’s popularity, regardless of their actual importance to lore or plot, is the fact that 3 first came back in Octo Expansion, and admittedly in a really cool way. However, if they keep bringing them back it will make each new one less special and fill the cast with empty characters. Personally, I hope we see a focus on brand new characters in future games, let the current ones have a rest and live their life. (Did not mean for that to be so long)
I think that's why people are so attached to them, they're the character's we've been around the longest, they are the actual main characters. I mean, that's why 4's special to me. Well, besides the fact that Side Order doesn't have much to do with the Squidbeak, Splatoon, th-cam.com/video/aiuIZN0KDFQ/w-d-xo.html This direct mentions the "epic finale of this splatastic saga" at around 20:30. I think the only mention of it is that direct, actually, and even then there's no real evidence it's specifically referring to the Squidbeak stuff. My guess is based on how Alterna ended is that it was the end of us fighting the Octarians - Side Order had unique enemies.
@@goldengamer6474 Yeah see that doesn't mean an end to the characters at best whatever story up to this point might close, but besides octavio and enemy octolings there isn't really much of a connective through line. Before Cuttlefish is drained. grizz told him that cuttlefish has a knowledge for years. such as wars/human/stuff. but cuttlefish doesn't seem to have any kind of biography or any knowledge he has saved on the books or somethin. he does have knowledge of past like great turf war though he doesn't seem to talk about it. i still wish to know why cuttlefish wants to prevent the octarians since they hardly caused any trouble on inkopolis!
The Calamari Inkantation is a special song that makes every inklings and octolings gain bravery and valor to fight back the enemy and seize the goal. it also weakens the enemies. what if there's like a rogue inkling/octoling who'd instantly defeats/punches the idols easily as they end up splatted. showing that there are some vulnerbalities. it would be cool to see some punch for once. as for the music. i can imagine a sonic boom or high pitch noise breaking their focus
so many missed potentials. all because of turf wars endless grind. would've been cool to have adventure updates or more bosses than just every 4 boss per adventure game. i need stronger enemies. more lore. our picks of our own specials and weapons.
splatoon 4 is coming soon yea but not much update on adventures at all. just same thing over and over. ape escape does a better job than that.
also in the original concept for splatoon it was actually rabbits not squids and octos so that would be a cool blast from the past
Splatoon has a lot of potential that I really hope Nintendo capitalizes on in the next game.
I also wish we saw more of the non Octoling Octarians in Splatsville and Inkopolis. It would make the world feel more alive and like things are actually changing due to the Octolings coming to the surface.
Why do people keep saying the squidbeak splatoon saga is coming to an end? I keep hearing that, but nobody brings the receipts
Well, besides the fact that Side Order doesn't have much to do with the Squidbeak, Splatoon,

This direct mentions the "epic finale of this splatastic saga" at around 20:30. While this doesn't outright prove it, it heavily hints at the idea, plus, there's only so much you can do with one storyline.
I'm lazy right now so I won't look for more sources, but if I come across something in the future I'll edit it in.
Saying no more old agents seems farfetched. Especially given that YOU made a video about the loose ends.
@@saintlugia I never claimed we were getting an end to the characters. In the video I stated that the Squidbeak Splatoon Saga was PRESUMABLY coming to an end after Splatoon 3, not that it was.
I am sorry if I've misinterpreted something you've said, I found your comment a little hard to understand, so correct me if I got something wrong.
this splatastic ending of squidbeak splatoon is a massive missed potential. many unanswered questions. like the original team of squidbeak. why does one inkling have to do all that work while callie and marie chill as NPC Commentators and do NOTHING.
Lazy unhelpful NPCs they are. sheldon helps agent 4 with different weapons! Marie doesn't do ANYTHING. Sure we saw both squid sister build the shaver and captain 3 does the shaving but this makes no SENSE. We do all the hardwork and fight enemies while they just wait. broken leg? wow. all that shaving and you got broken leg? wow.
if anything i was expecting something that isn't cinematic cutscenes. in the end. we'll never understand why idols think they're important yet we can defeat the enemies without the idols. geebus
