This episode is so chaotic lol. Korra being terrible at relationships makes sense because she was locked away in a compound her entire life, and never talked with anyone really her age until now. She never travelled the world like the Avatars before her so that's a big reason why her social skills are lacking to say the least.
To be fair (though only partially relevant because of how Korra was raised), but she's 16 and previous Avatars except Aang didn't begin traveling until age 16.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that for the first two seasons, the writers never knew if the show was getting renewed or not. They are very nearly standalone because nickelodeon screwed them over repeatedly with budget cuts.
7:56 Tahno’s scream after Naga came through the window 💀🤣 Never gets old 9:27 “Hey, Mako… Oh.” 😂😂😂 16:56 “Haven’t you hurt me enough, woman?” 💀😂 Also, Korra’s face while Bolin loses his noodles, was hysterical 💀 Reminder: Never eat a lot of noodles before a big match. Especially after getting your heart broken by the Avatar ☠️
- Every reactor I've seen has hated the love triangle stuff, definitely not just you. A thing I do love about ATLA and TLOK is that all the characters are flawed and are dealing with real age/situational appropriate problems, and where the writing really excels is in defying tropes and teaching life lessons. Mako and Bolin grew up as orphans on the street along side gangsters, so they had no positive role models or examples of how to act or have relationships, and Korra basically grew up in a compound and wasn't really socialized, so all things considered they're doing amazing. Also the writers are sprinkling in examples of healthy ways to address and solve these things, even if it takes a while sometimes. Loving the reactions, looking forward to the next one ! | : D
sometimes its a bit much but overall its something i liked about the series. not like Airbender didn't have it, and since the main cast is older in this one, such issues happening more makes sense.
Yeah there are reasonable comparisons to make 0:31 but also yes the problems are different because of how different the world is. While it is a continuation it is it's own story with Korra's own personal journey that is different from Aang's 4:02 also Pema's advice in of itself isn't terrible...its just the wrong advice for Korra's situation because what she saw with Tenzin is not what Korra is seeing with Mako. We'll circle back to this in a later episode
@@Sunaki1000 that too, that's actually the big difference within the situations. Pema mentions it was a while before she took her shot and Korra has still relatively only just met Mako and his relationship with Asami just started
Actually Pema gave a terrible advice, there's enough single people in the world to find someone without having to break a couple, even if you don't find them compatible. The whole "soulmate" thing sounds like a poor excuse to try to justify being an a*****e and make someone suffer. And of course Korra fell for it, because it was what she wanted to hear, not what she needed to hear.
@@novastarburst3939 for certain situations it is reasonable advice. Don't know how you didn't get that's what I was saying but you do you. But yeah for Korra's situation it was awful advice because the situations were completely different. For Tenzin and Pema that type of thing needed to happen
Bolin's a sweet, innocent cinnamon roll of a himbo - usually. The only times we see him trying to be a player, he's actually pretty bad at it, which makes Mako's bit about Bolin bringing his crazy fangirls into the gym not make a lot of sense. OTOH, it's easy to imagine Bolin having a lot of pull - he's beefy, handsome, and good at talking to people, even if he is dumb. Sub-bending isn't really explained very well AFAIK (maybe they say more about it in the books/comics, IDK). Some benders have these abilities, and some don't. Sometimes people can learn them, and sometimes no amount of training or practice will help. Some abilities are common, some are rare or unique. Maybe the talent is genetic, like normal bending seems to be, or maybe it's just dumb luck if you have it. So basically, don't worry about it too much.
things we know about bolin include the fact that he's a performer at heart and also terribly oblivious to other people's intentions, so i can easily see him appealing to fans who have absolutely zero interest in him as a person which explains mako's claims about crazy fangirls. bolin is a magnet for powerful, manipulative people because he has a tendency to act in a way he thinks people expect of him instead of being vulnerable enough to just be himself until a certain someone calls him on it in book 3.
If you're struggling this much to enjoy season 1 then I don't know how you're going to get passed season 2. Then again, the last person I saw dislike season 1 this much still managed to love season 2 warts and all. So I don't know.
It’s so crazy to even say that after watching more of the series, but based off first impression and mako saying he always brought girls up to watch pro bending matches that’s what I was assuming
She will never be intimidated by anyone she is a Taurus like urameshi and like me 💐💪🏾we are sweet but don’t push it because then things get out of hand 😅
Season one is awesome! But strongly recommend to turn the subtitles off, it's spoilery and a bit distracting from what happening while reading it! Luv ur reactions tho!! 👍
I think this is my one big problem with The Legend of Korra: the whole Korra-Mako-Asami triangle romance thing. It feels forced. I get that they're teenagers, but Mako already in 1 single chapter shows that he's an idiot who can't be with one without thinking about the other.

yes Mako did say that to Bolin (about fan girls) when they first met Korra. You'll find this show will change the qualities of any character at any time to fit the needs of the plot
@noztk no? you are extrapolating things from later seasons. at this point in the show Mako has called Bolin a player, saying "you need to stop bringing your crazy fan girls back here". at this point we have zero reason to believe he ever has trouble with girls, and in fact quite the contrary we have his brother saying he has girls with him quite often. so i'm not wrong at all. this is a perfect example of the writers changing the attributes and qualities of a character to fit the needs of the plot. say one thing about a character one episode, then just 2 or 3 episodes later that will be completely forgotten. @tromainesutton6226 no the fact that they are encouraging people to live a life that leads to hell is the absolute worst ending this show could have had
You could say one sub-bending technique Aang learned was the seismic sense Toph taught him.
Bolin is more of a hopeless romantic than a player. He's a goofy guy who tries to come from a genuine place
