100% agree. The show was always about Teds pursuit of Robin and how his obsession was self defeating. The last season was poorly fitted to the ending they always intended.

I actually always liked that Tracy dies- it gives Ted a justifiable reason to be telling his kids this story. However, I think they should’ve let Barney and Robin remain married because their relationship became the back bone of the show and made so much sense. Ted should’ve ended up alone as a man who learned what it was to love but unfortunately fate intervened

They should have had Robin and Barney marry at the end of season 8 and divorced at the beginning of season 9 (we all know someone who's marriage only lasted a few months)... That is if they needed either incident, or the show to had to be that long.
