For not having a strategy this wouldve been a relatively strong deck back then and just overall what a great fun deck sleeve this and keep it as is to use in a later video for wtfe its a fun deck
lol thos was EVERY deck until those chaos summoner cards (remove a light and dark monster from gy) then THOSE were in every deck. god ygo was fun back then.
Hand #1 : I'm more of an aggressive player so I would summon "Great Angus" in ATK mode and set "Rush Recklessly" and "Pyramid Energy". A monster with an ATK of 2700 is really good (if you activated both set spell cards). Hand #2 : This hand is more defensive (only because of the ladybug) so I would set "4-Starred Ladybug Of Doom" and set "Covering Fire" and any other spell card as a bluff. I would play next turn, the "Darkfire Soldier #2 and the two "Malevolent Nuzzler" spell cards for a follow up attack of 3100.
Old school yugioh was all about protecting and recovering life points. There weren't a lot of cards that used LP to do much except for cost of effects, and then regaining them was more important. In today's game LPs are just another tool to reach your end board.
It's crazy how this deck is the exact playground-meta I remember. Swap in (or stack to the ceiling) a few later staples and it's almost card for card what we aaallll ran at recess.
Could be fun to try this deck vs one of the rare hunter decks. Episode 12.5 "we found an actual duelist" you know, like what Marik told the rare hunters to do?
Hey Team APS! I just came back to your channel a couple of days ago and remembered how much I used to love your content (and still do of course!). You were the first Yugioh channel I ever watched when first starting out with this game (about 2018ish I think?). One of your videos actually introduced me to my first favorite Deck, which kinda ironically considering I hate to play backrow heavy/slow decks nowadays was Altergeist. In the past years I had kinda grown out of your Content though. I was taking the game much more serious, got my first few regional tops, eventually even a nats top and now during the pandemic even a remote ycs top with drytrons and your videos felt kind of "too casual friendly" to me. But now that I watch all your videos, skits and stuff again, it kind of feels like you and your channel will always hold a special place in my heart. For others, it's the original show and their childhood playground type yugioh or something, for me it is rewatching Team Aps. Keep up the great work everyone!
One of the bigger contrasts I see compared to today's decks is that even if it is a bad modern deck, far more cards will be shiny, even compared to some competitive decks from Yuchi-kaiba format. Konami wanted to make the game more accessible in the beginning, before making every cool card just unattainable after that.
I remember dumping Dark Magicians and Magicians of Black Chaos in the grave with Painful Choice and Tribute Summoning a 3800ATK Dark Magician Girl after stalling with Cyber Jar and the Shallow Grave over and over-
That first hand is exactly how I would have played it. Make them suffer to fight my facedown. And then it leaves them open for me to attack directly with Great Angus next turn. Mmmhm! Hahaahah!! The slow build up and mind games of traps and facedowns is what originally set yugioh apart from other card games. It's what made it fun and interesting.
I like the creativity with the newer videos. Pack openings and duels are cool, but I think there is a lot more that could be done. So I appreciate the effort to branch out and try some new/different content lately.
Hi y'all! 👋I have to say this video like manny others remainds me the god old times ,when i started the game.Have to say that i'm a fan from the first 3 Yu-Gi-Oh series,i even buy the dvd collection allmoust full till the end of GX back then, and after that period i stopped at all Yu-Gi-Oh, maybe because of grown-up or something like that 😁😁but i still watch how is the franchise in the anime and game aspect.Much love from Bulgaria, love the content you offer to the audience and keep the good work ,and you now what time is it...? ❣️👌😇
Ah yes, the good old days of Yugioh. Back when things were fun for everyone, simple, & innocent. Unlike today where you need a boat load of money, a 200 IQ for these combo decks, & there’s a desire to prevent your opponent from playing or having any fun.
I actually printed a man-eater bug from my printer/color printer with photo paper and crystal clear enamel to keep the cards/custom and official getting damaged.
My meme-y anime-like deck of the past is: Dark Magician Red-Eyes B. Dragon Dark Blade Mystical Elf Archfiend of Gilfer Chaos Sorcerer Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer D.D. Though there I make the concession of replacing Manju and Sonic with 2 Senju there because it really just hurts to pull the one you don't need. (In real life I just always liked MRL and birds more so I couldn't be bothered doing so to the actual deck and when I returned to collecting/playing in 2019 after leaving post SOD, it just seemed wrong to change it at all.) And yes, Element Saurus is the sole post SOD card that made it in. I received a few packs up through CRV as gifts and Element Saurus managed to make the cut.
Literally a case of what looks cool but would function well.... you should definatly have trell pop up in rare hunters and challenge for mariks favor lol
I actually found it a few years back at a used book store for $5 if you can believe it! And in pretty decent condition, too. Apparently it's worth loads online.
Hot take, this dude's note being so wholesome is actually sort of why I didn't enjoy the video when Paul covered his most recent decks he's been making/made. For me it was, I've seen the deck in Master duel or irl, and I'm just tired of it. I'm also not a big fan of all the loud artwork that has increased over the years. Still appreciate the game no doubt. And Paul's continuation to make videos is impressive and I've watched since the beginning. I dunno, I felt like Scott summed it up a bit better than I could. "Just a bunch of cards that I thought looked cool." Simpler times. Less stress. Just you and your buddies playing.
I think Paul was just skipping through his decks because it was a tear format and it's mostly just decks people know. It's hard to know how people will react to a deck profile that's not about what's the strongest, but then also just a known strategy.
This might be unconventional, but with the second hand I'd just pass my turn, maybe set a bluff (depends on the local schoolyard meta. I don't want them to play around Mirror Force). If the opponent summons a level 4, then I'd set Ladybug. Next turn they are likely to summon another level 4, so that can potentially really swing the game.
that graceful charity japanese card we call it banjap here in the ocg and are still legal for play as long as it's mint. I currently play banjap cyber stein and banjap card destruction in my danger dark world deck, its really a good flex once you have them in mint
@@bleack8701 old cards being mint condition increases it's value a lot, banjap cards are over 20 years old and is pretty hard to find in good condition

*Shout out again to Scott for sending this over! There's just **_something_** about looking through those old school Yu-Gi-Oh cards!* 😊
Great deck profile ill use this at my locals.
Those kashtira wont stand a chance
6:40
because as kid we probably thinking that gain life = alive for 1 more turn = 1 more chance to pull epic anime comeback
You should put this deck vs one of the Rare Hunter decks as an exhibition! Hunters preying on a Battle City Duelist
Yeah! Bring in one of the other members and have them face off against a Rare Hunter with this deck
Yeah that would be really cool!!
Definitely a sboutout to Scott for this. I couldn't let 1 of my first decks go so easily.
For not having a strategy this wouldve been a relatively strong deck back then and just overall what a great fun deck sleeve this and keep it as is to use in a later video for wtfe its a fun deck
No it wouldnt but its a cool deck
Idc if it's weird to say but, I can smell those cards
I love seeing the magic cards such memories from when I was a kid
This deck isn't bad! Wall of Illusion, Monster Reborn, Summoned Skull, this is cool.
lol thos was EVERY deck until those chaos summoner cards (remove a light and dark monster from gy)

god ygo was fun back then.
This was incredibly nostalgic to watch. I love seeing the old spell cards called "Magic" before the change. Brings back some good memories.

Does anyone agree that yugioh tournaments like the YCS need a price money award like make it more desirable
Yes like they did in duelist kingdom
Loved this format for a video!
You should play this deck against the rare hunter decks, it will almost definitely loss but it could be fun.
love that everyone tries to show the cool mat in the background and you put the stock ass field haha.
I'm collecting cards now and not playing but I'm planing to teach my child soon
Man reminds me of my best friend's deck. It makes me feel so old because that was sooo long ago. Wonder if he still has them.
The lined indent paper is making me mad nostalgic
So nostalgic. Tbh it's better than my deck back then since it had actual effect monster besides the single man eater bug.
this looks exactly like a deck I used to play back in the day. brings back memories
They should make a retrain of Harpies Brother

Most of these competitive players just get their cards customized into foil shinies. So even their commons are full foil.
awesomeee upload Paul, nostalgic for sure
I wonder if you could make videos on duels against each other with the oldest first decks
I could get behind that idea. I'd even send in my deck for them to try.
Now I'm curious if they could use it as intended though....

I made a deck profile on my channel a while back of my first deck and it looked similar to this one. I too picked cards that looked cool lol
Lots of history and fun in those cards given the condition. I wish I still had my old deck!
I do love building strategic decks. But I do miss the days of just building fun decks to play for fun.
positivly feels like childhood.
Wow he kept these in good condition. My old starter deck Joey Red-Eyes B. Dragon does not look like that 😂
wall in attack, rush reck in back to try and bait for sure
I wanna see this deck in a live duel

This was a pretty good deck. Basically beat down with a lot of removal. Even had multiple of good cards.
"if you were existing in 2002"

I really like these video's. Takes me back to an easier life :)
Open with Angus and rush face down for trap effect
The care bro is like no other channel
oh man the good value classic deck.
I look for that aging on cards when I'm going through bulk unless the bulk is all like that, then it's quick looking
Couldn’t have been late 90’s but I would believe early 2000’s
Because it came out early 2000’s
This is so nostalgic
Well he couldn't have built it in the late 90s when LOB was released in 2002...
Edit: Nevermind, he has Japanese cards.

Harpie's Brother will always be the big brother....sky scout is just one of his followers

im surprised that there no Pot Of Greed
Nobody knew what it did back then
Magic cards!
Actually toll is a good bluff. Makes it look like you don't want your. Card attacked. Lol
You should play Alec with that deck for fun
Hold up… Harpie’s Brother isn’t related to the Harpy Lady sisters?!?
yes
That deck is broken. Those turn one board are unbeatable lol
Cool
Amo ver Yugi vintage o de las primeras cartas, las más recientes no me gustan .
