Dan, I'm so sorry to hear about Crusty (and Dice, though I knew he passed). I had to put my 15 year old girl kitty down in December. I got her when I was 5, and I was 21 when she died. She had cancer, and I feel terrible I didn't get it diagnosed on time. She was the second euthanasia in my life I was present for, but the first time I personally had to make that horrific decision to do so. Pet loss is a pain like no other. I beg my now-oldest cat not to die anytime soon and I get paranoid about his health. I can't take more heartbreak, especially not this soon after losing my girl.
It's unfortunate when the better / more enjoyable parts of Baltimore can't be afforded by the average worker. You mentioned ice skating and it took me back to 1998/1999. My father took us kids ice skating a few times a year in Patterson and I specifically remember him mentioning how pricy it was, too. We stayed in Baltimore until 2006/2007 before moving to the county, which at the time was cheaper than the city.

i lost a beloved feline called sofina last year in august, had her as a rescue since age 6. she passed in the vets aged 18. at the time of collecting her ashes we saw the vets had been handed in a 21 year old male cat, with an outdated microchip.we game hime"marco" a home. hes the most lovable sweet cat and younger than his years cat ever. x
I had several overdraft fees on one day. I lost over $100 because of it. I went to the bank and got rid of overdraft protection. Now I just let the card not have enough funds and I just transfer money myself when needed. The bank teller was so upset when I cancelled it.

I understand 100% what you mean with pets getting sick and dying. To me its as devastating as when friends and family die. I miss having a cat sooo so much (been having cats all my life, im now 48) but at the same time im very hesitant because i know the fear and worrying of them dying begins to eat me up when they become like 5 years old.
