You go above and beyond for this customer way out of your comfort zone but you kept your composure the whole time very stressful and you did a great job
@joshuabest100 This is actually my main customer. The building isn't in the best shape, but that's what keeps us busy. Little by little, we are fixing things the right way. This was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I made it happen for them. It was a very stressful and tough job. Need to stay composed and strong mentally to even go through with something like this. It was a lot of pressure and risk. Thank you very much! I gave it my all. Thanks for watching 🙏🔧⚡️
I love this sort of fast paced high intensity work because at the end of it you can sit back and admire the hard work you have put into it @JumpermanTech
A tip on the hole saws. The slower you go the better for the blade and might help the batteries as well. If you find you are drilling a lot of larger holes like that in pipe it will be worth the investment in a 120v magnetic drill press. They are pretty expensive but are worth their weight in gold when doing a job with mech Tees. Good work on the replacement!
Go with the high capacity battery from Milwaukee 6.0 or higher . Your battery are over heating. We also using a cutting oil aerosol can (nonflammable) and slow ur drill speed. Let the bit do the work , you don’t need to lay on to hard. Just constant pressure. You do great, because ur a great tech. Great job. Commercial powerhouse mechanic , we work smarter , so we don’t have too worry harder.
Need to get a bigger Ah battery when cutting through iron like that. Plus, Some type of metal cutting oil. Pipe like that I think a corded woulda been perfect. Jobs like these are bad ass. Been there.
What a job ! You nailed it but it was unbelievably hard labor. Interesting and helpful video. JMT don’t over work. Thanks for sharing your expertise. 🙏🏻👏👍🏻
Fire Sprinkler Service tech/ Inspector here 🙋. @JumpermanTech we deal with these grooved pipe and couplings everyday. Whenever we have to drill a hole to put a Mechanical Tee, we always have 2-3 hole saw and 4 batteries charged up ready to go. I recommend getting the bigger M18 batteries for whenever you gotta do holes.
That turned out real nice JMT. You asked how much I would charge to do that repair. I'm going to ballpark at $3500.00 (labor only) Am I even close? I don't think you got a dud battery, I think the material was very hard causing your battety to heat up quickly. Anyway in the end, You and your loyal helper Christian got it done and that is a beautiful thing!
Great work JMT they need to retro fit that entire facility lol also I would recommend the Ridgid propress jaws they have a mini set that swivels and gets you going in tight spaces👍
You have to get the larger battery, also, it has to full charge before first use. I would only use that battery on light sheet metal screws in an impact.
When you only create friction and overheat instead of cut away material with the hole saw, you actually harden the steel. So even with a fresh hole saw it struggles to finish it off
Good job guys! That place is a nightmare. Such poor pipe management... That's probably why they never do proper maintenance (they can't reach valves, and stuff) Also it's funny there's so many different types of connections on those pipes 😂 brazing, thread, press fittings and vitaulic (did I miss flange too?)
Gotta say you outdid yourself given the space restraints thank God you’re a small size man who is not overweight, or there’d be no chance you could get that job done. As far as drilling, sometimes you just need a strong electric drill and an extension cord.
Question is that schedule 10 black pipe? Typically pipe the pips like that from the inside out tend to be wrongly installed schedule 10 which is only appropriate for fire suppression which that water is not moving around which is what cause a dielectric pipe reaction due to dissimilar metals
@dimaslespier2688 The old piping was schedule 40 and so was the new pipe that I installed. No dielectric fittings and no water treatment/maintenance could be in the mix here. There is a lot of rotting pipe around. The water is definitely moving around but not in the summer as the actuator valves are closed and they are using the chilled water for cooling. The water just sits there at that time. It's a very old building as well. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@@JumpermanTech When you have to replace or repair pipes covered with insulation in an older building do you touch it directly or is it testing you to make sure you are not exposed to Asbestos pipe wraps and here it turns out to be beautiful and many pipes covered with Asbestos pipe wraps is what you can refuse to touch is there a procedure for this kind of possible that
Where did you find that huge close quarters pipe cutter? No i wouldn’t do that job at my age. In my younger years sure. $3k plus materials. O I forgot about the custom order pipe. That adds way more time so now I’m guessing $5k plus materials.
I just recently got into the commercial service side of things after doing Residential Installs for about 2 years. Any advice to a noobie tech that gets confused about how to go about diagnosing certain issues?
@joshuabest100 Facts. The batteries I had for the M18 are the 2 that came with my propress. Those are my only M18 tools. I usually stick with the M12 line up. Time to upgrade 💯 Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@@TylerDurden0331 Thank you! So it was a bad connection itself or overheating? It seems it was overheating. Once it cooled down, it turned back on. Thanks for watching 🔧⚡️
@TylerDurden0331 I hear that. That was the drills first use. Definitely seemed to be overheating. I was going slow at first but still died. Looks like I need the high output batteries which I know now run 50% cooler & 50% longer. Need a higher AH rated battery. Because of the batteries getting overheated, it took almost 2 hours to drill those holes 😂 Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
@cryptogeek3559 I have exactly the same question because if insulation is in Asbestos in the form of pipe wraps it is the most dangerous form of asbestos presence because it is probably friable asbestos so personally I would refuse to touch anything without testing beforehand

A corded "hole hawg" right angle drill would've been the ticket for this. Low speed and lube so you don't burn up your cutting blade
