I'm sure with some easy changes, we could have made another top 10, very very easily : - keeping the whole song entirely in french (excepted the "tell me that you love me", if they absolutely wanted some english in the song) but keeping the revamp's instrumental that is much more epic than the original version. - some pyrotechnics effects "à la Conchita" (just like at the end of "Rise like a Phoenix") at 0:08, 2:01 and 3:02 would have made the whole performance much more epic. - tango dancers like in the videoclip during the two first verses and chorus, then they leave the stage at the end of the second chorus. It could easily have been way better.

I agree, however, the original song was completely in French but was recorded before the EBU deadline, and would have potentially been banned because of this. That's why the chorus is in English, otherwise, the song wouldn't have been allowed.

It's like if you were doing a South American equivalent of Eurovision, most would use Spanish, as almost all South Americans understand it. French is a prettier language for sure (although I learnt Spanish for practical reasons), but the point of using English is so you can communicate with a larger audience.

Ma préférée était la chanson belge.... Et je ne dis pas ça car nous sommes voisins. Par contre je n'ai pas aimé le chanteur portugais, sa manière de se tenir. Je n'ai pas été touchée par sa prestation et son discours m'a semblé tellement arrogant !
En fait ce sont surtout ses mimiques qui ne m'ont pas plu, l'expression du visage plus que la façon de se tenir. J'ai trouvé qu'il en faisait trop. Mais c'est un avis personnel, et visiblement ce n'est pas partagé par la majorité. J'ai préféré l'interprétation en compagnie de sa sœur.

im not 100% sure but i think this song was too old when it got sent in, there is some rule that a song can only be a certain time old, and thus they had to remake it

Ma préférée était la chanson belge.... Et je ne dis pas ça car nous sommes voisins. Par contre je n'ai pas aimé le chanteur portugais, sa manière de se tenir. Je n'ai pas été touchée par sa prestation et son discours m'a semblé tellement arrogant !

En fait ce sont surtout ses mimiques qui ne m'ont pas plu, l'expression du visage plus que la façon de se tenir. J'ai trouvé qu'il en faisait trop. Mais c'est un avis personnel, et visiblement ce n'est pas partagé par la majorité. J'ai préféré l'interprétation en compagnie de sa sœur.

im not 100% sure but i think this song was too old when it got sent in, there is some rule that a song can only be a certain time old, and thus they had to remake it
