This is cool, been wanting to do something like this for a while. Can’t wait to see how they do in the field. Thanks for showing how you did it.

Looks like that will work. I purchased the Kiwi spike ascender and put it on my Distel spurs. I love it.

Excellent video right here. I just today was talking about fashioning a spike sender that wouldn't break the bank per say.
I made one from a hand ascender like mike showed me but didn't like how bulky that was.
Thanks Jason and stay safe In that bunker friend

I always see everyone using those spikes, but they seem too short for me. I like a longer/taller set of spikes, because the shorter ones destroy my shins
I have long legs, so that's why I think many setups seem too short. I always end up extending them all the way out before they get comfy

They're all to tall.they dint make them for short or normal size people I had to cut 2 inches of the length shank .the steel geckos torn my tendons those green hard pads go right into your tendons .as with everything they don't make them to fitt unless your 6ft 8

Hey man I've always wanted to buy those spikes but had the steel version geckos with much thicker pads and I cannot wear then it tore my tendons 1 they don't adjust low enough for short people 2 the actual spur was always gaffing out.my question is ?don't the aluminum behind THAT PAD ?dig into your leg?

Hi I'm 5 '7 and they are so comfortable and they are ajustable about an inch or so below the knee I'm in Wisconsin so I use pole spikes or if had a big cotton wood to remove I would buy some longer spikes for them they are tits

In use, does the sharp point of the gaff tend to cut the rope?
