I loved this video so much! I’m planning to get some spot prawns now for our Father’s Day dinner, thanks for the great idea 😋 My favourite way of eating the spot prawns is definitely boiling them and dipping it in home made sauce!
just cooked spot prawns for the first time since moving to vancouver and used your steaming method for half of them. I did the other half butterflied and pan-seared.
Tried this for the first time and had sashimi and grilled. Sooooooo divine!!! I shall try the boiled and steamed method next time! Can’t get enough of it!!!
After cleaning and snipping, usually just boiled the bc spot prawns and served with a sweet and spicy soy sauce with minced garlic. I keep the water for seafood stock for soups like laska!
My mom makes the best spot prawn congee so that’s probably my fave way of eating them. But I also like them steamed and dip into garlic, ginger, soy sauce 😋
It is like Christmas with this giveaway hehehe! My fav is the steam style with Garlic! Also dumb wustuob, how did you get to stop jumping or did you kill it swiftly. I find that even when I was rinsing them, they kept jumping around!! PS great editing!
HAHAHA TRUEEE! oh my yes garlic breath all the wayyyy! haha that means you got a super fresh bunch! I would pour the jumping ones into the boil method to avoid having to deal with them hands on haha
I think a few years ago I got to go fishing with my family where the guy was fishing for spot prawns and we ate them fresh out of the water it was delicious!
Oh man, getting major FOMO here in SF Emma. What a great video, loved this edit and pace. I would just do a simple Blanche with a hot butter garlic sauce. 🤤🤤
My FAVE way to eat spot prawns is to boil them & dipping them in soy chili sauce. Yum! Also, thanks for the tip to save the prawn heads for the ultimate stock!
Is there a replacement for the chilies in oil? I can’t seem to find it in any of the grocery stores..I’m on Vancouver Island…I can find chilies/peanuts..but not straight chilies
@@VancouverFoodie no not really amounting authentic…I’ve actually tried an Asian supermarket in Sidney. …maybe I’ll try one in Vic next time I’m there…just wondered if chili paste or something like that could be used instead..

Steamed them and dipped them in oil and soy sauce with some chili. NOM! I want my parents to be in town now so they can make me some haha. It's kinda weird eating spot prawns without my fam >
1:44 Please don't tell me you only did that to the dead prawns and not that one live prawn in the bag. Sounds unnecessarily cruel to do that. In any case, I hope to try spot prawns one day. ;)
I think the best way to eat spot prawns is to steam them briefly till the shell turned colour. Then remove the shell and dip the prawns in my family's special homemade soy sauce blend with lemon juice, green onion slithers and garlic bits.
