Hope everyone enjoys the film! Bit of a different style trip (and certainly not what the new norm is going to be), but we had some great experiences along the way :) I'm flying out to Africa in a couple of days for the 3 week trip round Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda, and then late September I'm gonna be solo travelling around Taiwan for a couple of weeks. Plus once I'm back from Africa I'll begin doing the additional continent on the channel, the shorter videos in between the documentaries. So the content flood gates are about to open :)
When you get a paid trip ..that's government control..to showcase the best bits of a country...do u have full control over ..what makes the final edit etc ..? Always intrigued me that ..and I'm not saying you're not truthful to your content Karl ..I've been a follower for years ..but it's a question I think people should ask . Keep up the great work Karl and hopefully many more years of the best travel videos on TH-cam 🎉
It looks rushed, and from the expressions on your face, like some kind of a ransom video. I wish you could have enjoyed things of your own choosing, in a more leisurely fashion. I'm Korean American BTW.
Thanks for the reply ..great video btw .. south Korea does look stunning.. keep the aliens in broth ... I prefer them to jump out my stomach...lol 😮@@karlwatsondocs
Great video man. I’ve been to 12 countries so far but I’ve never been to Asia at all. Your video has convinced me that South Korea is definitely a top contender for my first visit to Asia now!
This you tube around Korea is so refreshing and interesting!😮 It makes me to visit Korea right now. Thanks for the beautiful scenery of Korea and interesting culture and food. 👍
@@stephenhi9569 I'm not asking him to like the stuff, but just letting him to know what it is. There's nothing wrong with informing others of anything they don't know or misunderstand.
That was a totally insensitive stupid comment. Puffed rice cracker rolled in natural sticky syrup then rolled in puffed rice so that your fingers don’t get sticky!
Great vid, dude. We’ve been four times and it never gets tired. Been to a few countries, but South Korea is easily the most welcoming - and, importantly, the safest. Day and night. Wonderful people, culture and sights. 👍🦘🇦🇺
As you experienced, Korea is a fantastic country. It is the almost perfect blend of modernism and historic preservation. Your experience with food and culture provides an understanding as to why Korea as such a global influence financially, technology, culturally (food, music, TV, Movies and the Arts)
Thanks for another epic video! We're visiting South Korea for the first time in November, so this video is an excellent sneak peek for us. Got a kick out of Karl and his companion speaking in a Scottish accent as soon as they arrived in Seoul LOL. Keep up the great work!
went to Korea last year, DMZ was a bit of a surprise with a starbucks and a doughnut shop with a fairground nearby :) but the food was great and everyone was friendly
you should visit gyeongju. It was one of the largest cities in the world in the past. It has so many historical, artistic places and history there. Definately the most underrated. It's a beautiful city.
Amazing Video - Thank You, Karl! What a fantastic video! Thank you so much, Karl. It’s a shame we’ve just returned from Seoul, and only had the chance to visit Busan other than Seoul. I wish we had seen your video before our trip! Out of curiosity, how much would it cost to arrange a guided tour like the one you experienced? We would love to return to South Korea and explore more, especially after seeing the unique and special experiences you had. It looks so different from the typical tourist itinerary. Thanks again for sharing!
This made me nostalgic for my first trip to Korea a few months ago. The train network makes it SO easy to get around. I miss the food (especially bibimbap and kimbap) and the traditional architecture. Too bad you didn't stop in Gyeongju - it's a pretty cool place.
I’m Korean-American. My parents lived in Korea but then they immigrated to America. This brings me back nostalgia from my Korea trip last year (July 2023). I went to visit my country by myself at 15 years old. My parents haven’t been to Korea for 26 years since 1999. I miss my relatives and the food I had in Korea. My family plans to go to Korea again all together after I graduate highschool in the summer of 2026.❤🎉🥳😍🥰😘🫶🔥
Another amazing video Karl. It made my head dizzy looking at the distances you covered! South Korea is a beautiful country and it does seem very tourist friendly. It is a great idea for you to do another video planning an unguided tour at a more leisurely pace. But I would say that the South Korean tourist bureau got their money’s worth in sponsoring you!!
I lived there for years (early 90's) and never got around to Mokp'o and Jeonju.... It's very cool that the KTA reached out and set that up. I'm surprised they bypassed Jeju, but if you enjoyed the trip you can always go back. Better prices outside of tourist areas seems a given, but in my mind the main benefit is "spreading the love" in the local economy. Get away from the big business areas and spend money at those mom-and-pop places. To learn to use chopsticks: 1) get drunk 2) get some wooden matches 3) build a matchstick house out of the wooden matches Worked for me. My last trip to Korea was with my two kids and I wanted to show them around to places I had seen before they were born. We spent four days in Busan, four days in Gangneung, and the rest of the two week trip in Seoul, taking full advantage of the "new" KTX train system (when I lived there a cheap ticket from Seoul to Busan was $20 and seven hours).
Daegu isn’t so interesting IMO, but Jinju and Gongju are nice. Jeonju is my favorite Korean city (I lived there 5 years in my over 21 years living in the country).
I always like your videos before I even get the intro started. We all know were in for a solid adventure with screenshot worthy views. You're my favourite travel channel..... The intro with the live food... that's a NO for me hahah
30:02 Tip: When you come to Korea, don't wear Japanese flag, samurai, or rising sun flag t-shirts. Korea was once a Japanese colony. (Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, etc.) People won't hit you, but they will think you are rude.
Gangneung That snack you had, you described as “fucking horrible plastic”: it is a well loved snack in Korea. It’s fine that you didn’t like it. But you showed complete disrespect with your words, smashing it flat and then tossing it aside.
I am glad they didn't stay in Seoul, its nice but I love the rest of the country, topo bad you missed Gyeongju and Jeju. I lived in both Seoul and Daegu for almost 9 years-kinda partial to Daegu.
It seems like the itinerary was meant to promote lesser known places than be a greatest hits tour. You can't expect people to like all the food when they travel. London was great. When I went to Belfast for work, they gave me cold chicken curry sandwiches a lot. Their Chipotle imitation served the meat chilled and I couldn't eat it. Any time I saw a Pret, I filled up. I don't know how many Koreans would like haggis or stargazey pie.
Hope everyone enjoys the film!
