Roman Abramovich has confirmed he is selling Chelsea Football Club, with all net proceeds from the sale to be donated to victims of the war in Ukraine.
Earlier this week, Labour MP Chris Bryant used Parliamentary Privilege to also reveal Abramovich is selling his UK home and another flat, telling the House of Commons the Russian billionaire is "terrified of being sanctioned".
He handed "stewardship and care" of Chelsea to the club foundation's trustees on Saturday, in a move aimed to protect the Stamford Bridge club following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

You could argue even a Championship or League One club is already a big club. In terms of facilities (stadium size, training grounds facilities) and size of organization (First team, Reserves and several Youth levels team)

Being a Liverpool fan, this guy was an absolute exemplary football club owner. Its extremely difficult to get a club owner as dedicated as he was, the amount of money and time that he has invested simply blows you away. Alot of things can be said about a person's behaviour based on their action as these guy is a symbol of pure excellence not only as person but also as a club owner. The least Chelsea can do for him is to built his statue at SB or rename SB.

The club does not and cannot function to make profit without a yearly cash injection or the redevelopment of the ground. A billionaire isn’t about to purchase it without knowing it will need even more investment than its market value to run year on year. You simply have zero knowledge about what you are talking about. The guy supposedly buying the club is one of the worlds biggest philanthropists (who isn’t buying Chelsea to make money), he’s not some despot foreign state or some hedge fund asset strippers. Pretty much says all you need to know if you actually bothered to educate yourself on the topic. 🙄
As the debt is not been recalled & this is a time sensitive sale that will drive the asking price to lower than the market value, the likelyhood is that the club will have either the same or even greater level of investment as before. Do some research.

As an Arsenal fan, I have always admired Chelsea and the standards they set. Also, I was cheering them on in the club World Cup only recently. Roman is a true blue and I am glad he is giving the money to charitable foundation. It will be interesting how the new owners manage Chelsea for the foreseeable future. Since 2003, when Abramovich bought the club, José Mourinho led them to two league titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups in three seasons. The club added a further FA Cup in 2009, and then their first League and FA Cup "Double" in 2010.
Chelsea have gone onto win 3 or 4 more Premier League titles and it’s first ever European Cup and then another Champions League last season. To add to that Chelsea have won 2 Europa Leagues under Abramovich’s ownership.
Abramovich has created a trophy-winning dynasty at the club which could be irreplaceable. Whatever his associations and flaws, he is a great club owner and put billions of his own funds into Chelsea.
Also, £3billion isn’t a lot for a club in West London, you’ve thought he should be asking for £5billion, even £6billion.
Almost every Chelsea manager has won a trophy while there since 2003.

Chelsea essentially are debt free, they have arguably the second best squad in the league currently with many of the young forwards yet to even hit their prime. Coupled with having one of the best football academies in Europe brimming with great talents with many top quality prospects on loan everywhere in Europe. The continued success of the club continues to attract brands from around the world. Knowing how much Roman loves the club, he'll only sell to whoever will continue to support the club.

I feel so gutted, since I saw the statement from Chelsea official, I feel so depressed, I feel so empty right now, my stomach just feels like is up my throat.
We all knew it was going to happen some day but I thought it was going to be probably in the 2030s, and not right now, I don't know Roman, but i love Chelsea and what he was able to build in nearly 20 years it's outstanding, he was an owner that didn't care about profit but only on clubs success and management, Im a fan of a Chelsea since 2002, but i was a kid and didn't understand what was going on, I will forever be Chelsea, the club has become such a powerhouse in football, that it should be able to at least stay in top fight on all competition in the worst case the new owners are bad owners.
I look forward for our uncertain future but also with a glimpse of excitement, Roman will forever be us, and represent us as a passionate Chelsea fan.
Chelsea fans should issue a letter to new owners, first thing to do is name or build something in the stadium in name honouring Mr. Abramovich, Chelsea's success is his legacy and we should honour it.

He LOVED football and him acquiring Chelsea was never about making money. He raised the standard of the EPL bringing Jose and other great managers and players. I also must express my greatest contempt for the British MPs who tried their very best to include my club's owner in this whole unfortunate and tragic war. Abramavich has proven himself to be against the war but they still pushed the war on him. This will be the death of Chelsea as we can never replace a man like Abramavich.
