Suggs 1st ballot
Average QB with 2 Super Bowl runs doesn't make you a Hall of Famer in my opinion. Jim Plunkett should be in then if that's the case.
I agree , he will get in though , he took down best team ever and 2011 another historic pats team. Can’t deny it . And it’s not like he was Peyton at the end getting carried . He put the daggers and elite throws into the patriots heart and I’m a pats fan. He won fare and square and play great in two playoff runs . He’s in unfortunately . Even if I think he was mediocre.
Eli had the longevity....Jim didn't have the stats and was benched during one of those runs in a big game and got hurt

@@ethanjoseph2474 Completely agree, for those two playoff runs he was as good as anyone and beat Tom Brady twice. Besides that he has literally zero playoff wins and a lot of forgettable seasons.

And let’s not forget that after his first six or seven seasons the Giants had massive roster issues bc of extremely ineffective ownership and GM.
And for all of you who love to say he only won in 2007 bc of defense - go watch those games - he was money. There is a Manning who owes a SB to defense - but it’s big brother Peyton in SB 50!
Now add in the Iron Man streak only ended bc of Macadufuss.

Brady would be minus at least two rings were it not for colossal blunders by the other team and I could go on and on and on.
If Eli isn’t a HOFer - than I don’t know what the criteria is, and how a lot of QBs that are already in, got in.

Earl Thomas was the best safety in his Era. The days of safetys having 60 INTs are over. Richard Sherman, his teammate, has 37 career INTs.
Eli Manning should not be a 1st Ballot HOFer....
Vinatieri and Keuchly should be no-brainers first ballot. Suggs should get in but could be a victim of numbers and is a victim of living in Ray Lewis' shadow. Manning will be debated as nauseum but he's basically Joe Flacco twice and not much else.
Earl Thomas has 3 1st team and 2 2nd team allpros. All Decade team. That's a HOF lock. Maybe not 1st ballot but 2nd or 3rd for sure. He's at worst, the 4th best player on this year's list. And one of those is a kicker.

M.Lynch is in the Hall of Very Good. Great runner during his prime years. Unfortunately, those prime seasons never occurred pre - or post Seahawk tenure
Super Bowl victories as a QB can be a big factor to get someone into the HOF. Eli's postseason success and performances likely solidified him for the HOF, and I think it's fair to take him in this case.
When ELi retired he was in the top 7 in both tds and yds passing. Plus 2 SB plus the 2nd longest starting streak for a QB. Plus beat the only undefeated team to win one of those SB. Holds the playoff record for most yds and tds in a total playoff run.
Kuechly and Vinatieri are first ballot locks. Suggs and Earl Thomas are borderline first ballot. Eli shouldn't get in and he wouldn't with a different last name. I'm a Giants fan!!
Suggs should not be first ballot. He definitely should get in though. Earl Thomas I think makes it the second time too

Phil Simms went 11-3 in 1990 before a broken foot ended his year. He DOES have 2 rings and he 100% deserves both of them. As far as the Tyree catch is concerned, it should be noted that it WASN’T a fourth down miracle. It was 3rd and 5. The catch and play itself were definitely remarkable, but it’s not like if it didn’t happen the Giants were done. Let’s gain a bit of perspective here.

Getting on the All-Decade Team seriously helps Kuechly. If his career had been the same but he played 2006-2013 instead of 2012-2019, I don’t think the voters are so easy to put him in right away/at all. Only other linebacker to get into the hall of fame playing 8 years or less is Dick Butkus
Kuechly had about as good of an 8 year career that it's possible to have as a linebacker. DROY, DPOY, and he was a pro bowler and made atleast one All-pro team every year after his rookie year. The only season he wasn't a pro bowler and an all-pro, his rookie year, he was ROY and lead the NFL in tackles. I don't think there's any scenario where that resume doesn't make the hall of fame. BTW, Patrick Willis only played 8 years, didn't win a DPOY, and is in the Hall of Fame. And Butkus played 9 seasons not 8.

If the Helmet catch doesn't happen, then Eli loses to the greatest team ever. And he faced them twice and gave them everything they could handle. He would still get in. And if Talib gets in, Charles Tillman should be in. Kuechly's career is a lot like Patrick Willis's and he was a first ballot. Marshawn Lynch seems like a no-brainer to me. Same with Earl Thomas. There is a log-jam at receiver so I think there may only be a couple first ballot.

@@SawBlade11 Top 10 in all major passing categories. Would have gone to 2 superbowls, and won 1. No HOF receivers, tight ends, or running backs on those teams. His resume is better than Kurt Warner, and Kurt is in the Hall.
Earl Thomas’s career ended early bc everyone on the Ravens hated him and wanted him out, no other team re-signed him

I have never understood the significance of "1st ballot" status. They either are worthy of the hall, or not. The process is like making a horse by committee. You end up with a camel.

I’m very strict on who is a Hall of Famer as i think too many ‘very good’ players get in (I see it in Baseball too).
My criteria: Was he one of the best of his era? That’s why Eli Manning is not a Hall of Famer. He was a real good QB and i actually think he was more clutch than his brother was. The only HOF QB’s who was a rookie in this century are Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rodgers and Mahomes is on his way.
