My mom makes this all the time we are not Brazilian but we have lived there for 3 years the food there is delicious especially the stroganoff it’s so good in Brazil they call the chips that come with it Batata palia

We tried this dish tonight! Replaced the shrimp with beef though as my mom can't have shrimp. We really liked it, and enjoy how creamy the sauce is! The beef tasted good with it, and I'm sure there's other substitutes for the crema and such. Highly recommended for those thinking of trying it 😁

As Brazilian I love when foreign people like our food. Usually Brazilian stroganoff has a clear base which is protein (beef, chicken or shrimp), a mix of two sauces (red being tomato/ketchup + the thing you guys call "media crema") creating a terribly delicious orange sauce and that's it. You can add whatever you want after that (onion, garlic, butter, wine, stock, cheese, mushroom, mustard, whorchesfdsjifdsshire sauce, shoyu, requeijão which is a super creamy kinda cheese). The most important is that a good Brazilian Stroganoff will always be followed by rice and potato sticks, just like your friend did. It's so good.

you can use beef or chicken instead of shrimp if you want, seafood is expensive in the part of Brazil I live in so I always use chicken
Most of the time, people use chicken to make this dish here in Brazil, not shrimp. Some use red meat. My favourite is definitely the chicken version.

Don't do it with shrimp though, use slices of meat or chicken breast
The sauce is VERY rich and it honestly becomes a waste to use shrimp with it

But that gets lost with the sauce, and you can use a cheaper alternative to the same effect, basically the only difference with shrimp and meat/chicken will be the texture, and even that I feel works better without the shrimp

So I made this with a couple changes, no shrimp but with a ton of blue oyster mushrooms that I picked up from our local mushroom farmer. Took some adjustments on some extra seasonings, I added some pepper like he mentioned but also added some smoked paprika and a lot more garlic cloves because I'm the type of person that always doubles suggestions in that department. 😅 Didn't add cheese but did add water to loosen it because mine turned out very thick. It was truly delicious and I can't wait to make this again, thanks for sharing this video it gave me creative inspiration and I can't wait to pick up some shrimp to try it as is next time!

also “baião de dois”. is a northeastern dish made of rice and green beans and some people add bacon or beef jerky.
tbh there’s a bunch of food from north east that you could like since they’re heavy on pepper and garlic.

This is so cool I'm learning to cook foods I just recently made Mexican street corn and it was so good! My whole family loved it I'm only 15 and so far I think I'm doing pretty good on my cooking :) I hope my grandma can teach me how to cook sea food soon tho!
