- A very short video about a character who's become my favorite NPC in the series, relative to how little dialog she has.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW: a "TM" is a Technical Machine. It's a device that teaches a Pokemon one move, and then breaks, so you can only use it once. Thank you to my sister for pointing out that I never explained this in the video itself.

Really short video for you guys this time, but I've had this idea for a long time and have always wanted to talk about this specific NPC.

Her saying I don’t need it anymore implies to me she had it before her Pokémon died. It’s possible she regrets never teaching it to her Pokémon and entrusts to you not to make the same mistake. :(
Imagine being one of the gen 1 kanto npcs that had to grapple with the reality of pokemon death and then finding out everyone in every other region just gets to live in a blissful world where death does not exist

Being a grass starter, she already destroys most gyms in kanto, but also, her dark typing adds onto it. And meowscarada is a cat, in a region with a lot of wild rats and birds.
I love subtle lore and subtext in this stuff I've been looking at all my life that still surfaces.
what can be assumed to be simple dialog can really go a long way if you really think about it, for sure
This reminded that I put Return on my Tauros in leaf green who I grinded hard for and grinded to prepare for the final four. My Tauros despite it being 4 levels below Charizard koed it to beat the game. The video kinda made me like her too since return was already an attack I liked alot, but the video made me realize that beating the game was all thanks to her and her losing a pokemon who probably tried its hardest as well.
Imagine losing a pet due to a bug in the universe.
Swift has always been my favourite move because of usefulness and looks, but now it's also lore-whise. This story it's so touching...
The other two compliment the original.
Roost: allows a pokemon to rest when its tired or stressed
Return: She didnt realize her pokemon eas overworked because its only wau of expressing their admiration and bond were through following their commands to a T.
Swift: Fell in battle, missing a move, ehile being too overworked and tired to aim
I like the move Swift too. It's spanish name is "Rapidez", which is a literal translation of the word swift. It evokes the sense that the move is too fast for the target to dodge. It's briliant.
Then gen 9 came along, changed the name to "Meteoros" (Meteorites) and it lost its original meaning. Oh well.

I know that the early Spanish translation for Pokemon is famously weird, like how the move slam is "PORTAZO" which I love.
For what it's worth, the Japanese name for Swift is just "Speed Star," like the actual English words for "speed" and "star"
so weird, in german the attack was always called (star rain) and I was just confused why it was 'swift' in English
i never really processed that its implied anyone can create tms, and now im imagining them like being little training videos stored on a disc that has whoever made it explaining how to do the move. and i think thats really cool

Because I was curious, I checked the wiki:
The Pokemon that can use TM50 in LGPE are Charizard, Butterfree, Beedrill, the Pidgey line, Spearow line, Zubat line, Venomoth, Farfetch'd, Doduo line, Scyther, all three legendary birds, and Mew
all of these Pokemon can also learn Swift in generation 1 and Return in generation 3, so if we assume that all of these NPCs are the same and that her Pokemon either knew or could learn the TM she gives you, that it was one of these Pokemon.
I was hoping that cross referencing all three TMs would narrow it down more but nearly everything can learn swift and return so those didn't narrow it down at all.
I don't know what the point of this comment is.
Maybe you could cross check her location and spawn around her and probability to get which pokemon most of the time

The fact that swift is kind of animated in the opening title sequence is a emotional blow it really tied this 3 minute video well.

In the first few seconds of this I thought this video was about to be about some npc that says something stupid but this is a actually somewhat sad kinda probably idk but this text of a Radom npc have a story to it is so Radom yet still sad

Personally tms to me are like a copy of a move a trainer trained a Pokémon to have, this is why in the shows they have moves that don’t exist because they trained there Pokémon to do that but they haven’t made a tm for it

I'm curious if people can just make TMs if that means they can literally make their Pokemon do whatever they set their minds to?
Like if I wanted a Pokemon to parry by doing a taunt like in Pizza Tower, that is technically possible to actually do?
That's basically what move tutors do. You could totally introduce an idea to a Pokemon as long as it's capable of actually pulling it off.
