I appreciate videos like these. It seems basic to most people but for someone who rarely deal with cars, this is handy. Twice I tried to release the hood and couldn't feel the tab.. I bet it was I didn't stick my hand in far enough.
Everyone needs to start somewhere. Just glad you took the initiative and were thoughtful enough to post. I get irritated at times, because people sometimes make fun of people who don't know for trying to learn. Everyone has to start somewhere. Also it can be embarrassing asking for help with things such as this and having the internet around to get you through can definitely help. I know last year I rented a car and was confused opening the flap to get at my gas cap. I looked in the car, pushed on it and was looking all over the interior for the gas cap release. I pulled up a video and realized I didn't push hard enough to release it and quit looking for the release and pushed on the cover and the flap popped open and I was able to unscrew the cap and add my gas. So it happens to all of us...
You're the one's I made this for. Someone the other day was upset, but there are plenty of first time car owners. I've had recently separated people look these up because now they are responsible for checking oil or filling wiper fluid. I'm glad it helped and I appreciate you taking the time to say Thanks!
Thank you so much! Appreciate your taking the time to post this in spite of people giving you a hard time. Today I tried to put washer fluid in my car and popped the hood but couldn't get it up. This is exactly what I was looking for. Videos like this are extremely helpful.
I never take it to hard when they complain. People of every skill level are on here trying to learn something new. Although, sometimes I think why the heck were you even looking up how to put wiper fluid in if your so great at it. I do get irritated that they post belittling people that are actually trying to learn something. I do like to hear it when it helps, so I appreciate the comment and I put some of my videos up just for people like you that will benefit from a bit of extra help! So thanks for taking the time to post. I appreciate it
Thanks for the great video. My current car is my first Toyota and while I had been shown how to open the hood when I first bought it now that I need to open the hood I cannot remember how it was done. The mechanism is a bit different from my previous cars (>10 year old Fords) so it is useful to be able to easily check how it was done with these cars. Thanks again!
Thank you for this! I wanted to check my coolant, but I couldn't get the dang mechanism to open it all the way. Glad to know it's frustrating to get to for other people, and that I'm not losing it. Turns out I need to move my hand to one side of the mechanism, not try it head on. Can't wait to try again!
Thank you!! This is such a helpful video . First time trying to figure out how to open the hood for the time now that the husband is on a deployment lol.
Glad it helped! I get ragged on by some people for putting those videos on, but everyone needs to start somewhere and depending on ones experience even hoods can be a challenge. Hopefully it was nothing big and you just needed to add wiper fluid... Thank you for your commitment and support... I live in a military community up in Alaska and Deployments are rough on families... Wishing you the best
Very helpful. Borrowing a friend's car and wanted to refill her window wash. I'm a woman and even with small hands i could barely get my hand in there. That, and had no clue the release would be at the top not the bottom. Wtf?
Friend, the sensor of the chest lock was damaged, could you film a video of the sensor part?, a sheet arm that has bent, I already unfolded it but it still does not grip the sensor well, thank you.
Yeah, pretty sure you'd be out there with a plunger trying to pull the dents back out if you stood on it. If you laid on it I think it spreads the pressure out and would flex back. But yeah they seem pretty thin and flimsy

I want to put a sticker on my front windshield, I can't stand on the hood, right? Doesn't seem like it could take even 150 pounds
