This was my school bus route from Hart Hill to Titchfield, c. half a century ago. Back then Buff Bay - at 'Cross Roads' looked much better (even in the rain). As for Port Antonio, the cruise ships were 'Banana Boats', which also happened to bring tourists; I actually 'bummed' a ride home from school a few times with them. And Mr, Playford (PE teacher) took us, boys, to Folly estate for a cross country run once - I never forget that day😊.

I was in Port Antonio in 1998, on my honeymoon. We spent some time on Navy Island, which was still a Hotel and Villa complex back then.
Port Antonio is was one the most beautiful places I have ever been to, I'll never forget the welcome and easy, relaxed vibe of the place.
    Huge love to Jamaica.

I am from the parish of St. Thomas but I must admit I love Portland especially for it being so pristine and lush with vegetation.

Deer escaped from Somerset Falls in 1988 during hurricane Gilbert and now populate a huge area in the surrounding hills, they destroy native and cultivated plants and are hunted for food. Swift River suffered two massive washouts/floods when, during the heyday of banana production, the hills were denuded to plant banana which has no roots to support the soil resulting in landslides that blocked the river, formed a lake then broke away and washed away around 40 people in their homes in the 1930's I believe. The survivors were relocated to New Eden although now people have moved back.
