    Thank you! I first changed all the spark plugs, it was due anyway. The diagnosis reported cylinder 3 misfiring. Deleted the code, let it run a while, same code came up. So I did what you said, swapped coil 3 with coil 4 and no misfiring anymore! The code didn't even follow the coil, it's just resolved itself.

      Replaced all my coils still get misfires. Going to do the injector thing.

      @@ricardocortez3961 Unfortunately no. I went the cheap route though. I replaced all the injectors for about $100. Now I get a slight noise, similar to a faucet spewing water. That's what makes me believe it's the injectors.

    I'm a woman who owner 2006 White BMW X5 4.4L . I've had it diagnosed twice And have had a tune-up First mechanic told me it might be the gas cap replacement gas cap said everything was fine but didn't explain to me about the codes PO456 PO308 Second mechanic said he couldn't find anything wrong this video explained it all excellent wonderful I'm a woman you know most women always do is put gas in the car thanks so much for the help

    Quick question; My misfires go away after a second or two on idle. These codes do not show up via normal obd2 or MHD. This misfire usually occurs on startup 50 percent of the time but instantly goes away and comes back periodically on idle. My assumption is a failing injector but its hard to confirm since I don't know which cylinder

    Thanks! I currently have a 1999 BMW 328i, but I’m going to buy this generation of BMW this May. I may just do a complete tuneup on it when I get it. I love BMWs, because they are extremely easy to work on and well engineered. The placement of parts are very well thought out. Well, except for my vehicle replacing the starter was not fun as it was in a extremely difficult area. Other than that, it’s a very easy car to work on.

    Just replaced all six of my ignition coils on my 08 bmw 328i and it’s works the shaking and rough idle is GONE !!! Cost $200 bucks at auto zone 😂but my problem are gone thx 🙏

      Next time you need to replace them again and if you don't mind waiting a few days for delivery, try eeuroparts.com; way cheaper than that! guaranteed quality (and I'm picky)

    I have a 2011 550 F10... got drivetrain malfunction. Took to dealer they said it was coil number 7. I decided to do diy and change all spark plugs and coils because it seemed simple enough. The drivetrain malfunction is gone after the change but the engine light is on. The car doesn't idle well and if I give it half throttle while driving the drive train malfunction comes back up, it will clear when I restart the car. Today I went to local shop said cylinder 7 and 8 misfire. Also cylinder 7 had moisture looked like oil... Maybe gas although it didn't smell like it. What would you recommend? Injectors and/or carbon? Valve cover?

      I'm having similar issues now. Exact car, cylinder2&3 misfire. Change out all 8 plugs and coils, still happens, drive malfunction. I'm running JB4 and meth not tuned.

    1:49 one of my most favorite co workers used to say “now REmind you” lol even tho it’s “mind you” ...she was awesome so thanks for bringing that memory back anyway... have you ever ran into a situation where the misfire follows the cylinder? I’m having this trouble right now I think it may be an injector ☹️

      3 grades. Cheap 35,000 Miles , OEM (NGK) 50,000 Miles & Performance plugs 90,000 Miles.

    I get the misfire code on cylinder 6 sometimes running map 7 only with E65 mix. New plug coil still there, going to try the injector swap.
    E90 335i FBO JB4+MHD E85 BEF STAGE 2 FUEL IT

      May solve your problem , but carbon build on the intake valves at that cylinder will cause a missfire code too....So you have to start at the beginning; clean intake valves. Than study the code behaviour. good luck!

    Change all six plugs and coils when you have think about just one.
    Rigs at 80k plus with no change should be changed regardless of misfire or not.
    I change coils and plugs every 60k no matter what.
    3k oil changes. 10k brake bleeds. 75k transmission service.
    35k differential service.
    My car has always been reliable AF!

    I just replaced my eccentric shaft and relearned it successfully. Car started, then started running lean. Had a misfire cyl 2/3/4. Swapped 1 & 2, and only had misfire 3/4. Tried swapping 3 and 5, then had misfire 3/4/5, swapped 3 & 5 back, then swapped 4 & 6, still had 3/4/5 misfires. Then it had a 2D59 ECM internal error code and wouldn't turn over again. Suggestions?

    I have a code saying I’ve got misfires on all my cylinders except one… I replaced my plugs and coils and it’s still happening… 2010 E60 98k… runs rough for the first five minutes and then it runs great… if I clear the codes it won’t throw a code until I let it sit for a couple of hours then it’ll run rough again and then throw a code…

    All of my coils are new as well as the spark plugs. P0300 came up after fixing a broken coolant hose.

    Thanks I'm having the same issues now. I have a 550i and it comes up cylinders 2&3 miss fire. I change sparks plug and coil, but it still comes back. I'm running JB4 and meth not tuned. I'm just freaking out right now.

    BMW sells 1 coil for 150CAD, you can buy all 6 OEM Bosch coils from FCPEURO for $150USD lol. If you want piece of mind, just change all 6 and buy the coils from FCPEuro

    2c7e oxygen sensor emissions control.upon starting rough idle, within 10 seconds it straightens out, but Engine running rich, you can smell the petrol. 2 oxygens sensors in the engine bay have been replaced, i take it thats pre cat, so now i need to replace 2 by the cats?

      Mine runs rich too. You can smell it. I've replaced all ignition coils twice in a year. It fixes the intermittent shutters for a little bit and then it comes right back. Done the swapping thing. I'm going to look at the injectors and see if that keeps causing my issue. And replacing the O2 sensors help?

      Nour Hummadi bought a new coil today and went down the line swaping each one out with the new one and no change. Could it possibly be just a bad batch or sparkplugs?

    What you think is , only have a rpm jumping on reverse , And sometimes on the drive with the break on , like red light
    What should I do cause is not everytime , and is bad shaking you can feel it , rpm 800 to 600

      Could by coming from cylinder. I have very similar issues on my e90 right now. Can is misfiring, shaking at idle( 800 to 600), will also shake in reverse. However, once I pick up speed I don't feel it anymore. So yeah, I scanned my e90 and it says the misfire is coming from cylinder 1. I'm gonna start with swapping cylinder 1/2 coils tomorrow and go from there.

    I need your help folks? I got bought an abandoned 98’ e36 M3 S52 with two bad cylinders 1 and 2. I have replaced and switched around coils, spark plugs, and injectors... No changes. Only diagnostic test done so far is coil ignition test. And they are good. Symptoms found were moisture on tip of spark plugs 1,2... perhaps gas or coolant. Overheating... I believe bad Thermostat. Codes pulled are P0300, P0301, P0302. I tried unplugging coils 1,2 while engine is running and it did not change engines timing. I also notice a small hose that goes somewhere under the intake manifold is hanging around. There is moisture under oil cap every time I check, and lower radiator hose stays cool at operating temp. I plan to replace thermostat, search for vacuum leaks with smoke tester. I am thinking it is intake gasket leak, or valve cover leak, or vacuum. I’m hoping for responses or opinions and praying it’s not head gasket. Help......

      Compression test 1 and 2 aswell if it's getting fuel cut off but I get thermostat code alot comes and goes I finally got thermo code then misfies bank 1 & 2 soon after

    I have a misfire or rough idle on a cold engine but not getting any codes, when the engine has warmed up it runs and idle's fine. Do you think this could be the vanos solenoids? Seen your video on replacing them and looks like an easy diy. Engine only has 42000. Or would you recommend checking plugs and coils first?

      Long time owner here. It's normal on a cold start. n54 starts up in open loop mode with no o2 sensors and tmap, etc metering the car. After a minute or so, it transitions to closed loop and then emissions are in place smoothing it out. If you have no codes, you're fine. If it was vanos, you'd know. You'd get a dash CEL and limp mode. You'd also see 2A82 or 2A87 codes.

    Had a cold start misfire with “Service Engine Soon” light on, new spark plugs, old ones weren’t covered in fuel, purchased coil packs already, wish me luck 🤣

    Tried this with my 08 BMW e66, have a cylinder 6 misfire so I swapped coils, didn't work, bought new spark plugs first denso then ngk gapped at .44 didn't work, then switched fuel injectors and that didnt work, also I tested the spark plug to make sure its getting spark and I is.

    Yeah thats all nice but my 335i has missfires and never and I mean never will throw any code even when its hard missfire

      Its a twin turbo car so one cone for each turbo inlet.

    Error code 29d2 just showed up today its misfire on cyl 6 ,hardest to get to..,regardless of if its the coil/injector/or plug ,i love my e92 but certain things are a ballache to do

    I did however ad miniature air filters on my aftermarket charge pipe and a hks vacuum BOV ......I'm now running a small mix of e85 and I can't stress enough these cars are insane, the intercooler swap is MAJOR I have an intake temp gauge and with my 5" ducted sealed cooler o all that air Rams in I get roughly 10deg c above ambient after hard driving if I did this before on stock I would do 1 hard pull and it would just keep soaking exponentially until it was 2.5times ambient which is just like park and don't boost its a really really important part I think and I must confess I got a cheap eBay one to experiment but it has worked so well I just kept it, I'm in hot part of AUS too so if your on a budget I'd consider the eBay copy , I may be in the minority/lucky though but it's mad gains never heat soaks it's like it's not able, if u want your engine to ever cool down more and the cooler cause mine is sealed meaning it will suck outside air into intercooler then radiator turn your aircon on for a few minutes and watch the temp drop dramatically

    Hi I have a 2008 528i and I have a misfire on cylinder 4 I got confused on fireing order and swap coils the last one on the engine put it on the first one still kept saying cylinder 4 misfire I saw another fireing order and swap again 1 and 4 from and same thing now I'm going to pull out spark plug number 4 and see how it looks..........thanks

    I’m getting misfire Cylinder 6 I got new spark plugs and switch the coil pack ..but it won’t change I also had some oil on a few spark plugs any advice??

      Very possible you are arcing ,so use electric greece also change the rubber boots

    I took my car oil change and they didn’t do anything bad today I was watching it I didn’t need a oil change for a little bit over but then after now I get a light on and he makes me run at a lower speed he only comes on when I stop at a stop sign or a light if I turn it in on and off it comes off sometimes it comes on faster comes back on faster

      It would be smart to replace all gaskets related to the valve cover. If you have the knowledge and time, you should also replace your oil filter housing gasket. It is prone to failing.

    Got an X3 2.5, 2005y petrol, always misfire on cylinder 6, done plugs, coil lead, injector and both O2 sensors, still goes to misfire on cyl 6 after 8 min idling

      the whistling noise you're hearing could be one of 2 things.....the water pump......or you have an " un metered air " intake leak.....this will cause misfire codes if more than 1 cylinder begins to misfire a predetermined amout of times , check all your intake connections on the filter box and connections leading to the intake manifold if it's turbocharged , check to make sure charge pipes are secured to the turbo's

      @@mattriella6776 It turned out to be the pcv valve on the valve cover. Just went ahead and got a new valve cover and gaskets for $100 and its working great now.

    hi. pls. help. 325 M54. always missfire cyl2. when cold. moved: sparkplugs, coils, had injectors cleaned and moved to other positions. have same compression values on all cylinders. - o2 sensor bank 1 - before cat. changed but it didnt help it from peding up and down values just are not stable like bank 2 before cat. (even when warmed up)... engine light comes up from now and than and complains on cylinder 2 missfire or the bank 1 bef. cat. sensor.

    I have a slight miss on idle only then it goes away when warm no codes come up is this really anything to bother looking into? I'm changing plugs soon but I'm surprised the code never comes up maybe it's just rich startup pops?

      Sounds like a vacuum leak, possibly from the manifold. The misfire will occur on cold start-ups usually through one of the gaskets, which will then expand as the engine heats up and re-seal the air leak. I had similar cold engine misfires which turned out to be the manifold gasket going to cylinder no. 2, so went and got all intake manifold gaskets replaced and that sorted the problem. It may not be the same fault on your own car but it's certainly something to look for. Good advice is to get a smoke test done for vacuum leaks.

      ps3dayday ,my car runs just perfect I think it was my stock charge pipe cause I changed that and intercooler and it runs perfect every time, I never even bothered changing plugs using the lazy/smart? Old saying don't fix it if it ain't broke.....this channel is the best by far for this car so if he says do something I'd listen he's a BOSS at common sense smart guy and problem solver in my opinion

    I had a misfire in cylinder 1. I changed the plug and coil and still the same. I haven’t checked the injector but I need to replace 2 oxygen sensors. Will this still misfire the engine?

    I’d highly recommend checking and cleaning the vanos solenoids
    Replaced my spark plugs and it was misfiring to the point the engine turned off
    Sure enough the vanos solenoids were dirty with oil

      The check engine light was on but i didn’t read the code so I clean up the vanos solenoids and made sure the coils were completely plugged in and it got rid of the misfire

      sound like a electric issue replace all you small fuse micro and ATO fuse first. if still is a issue you might need to take it into the Dealer for repairs.

    So what about misfires but no codes? My car misfires on cold starts every day but once it gets to normal idle it stops and there’s never any codes or issues with it. Been like this for a while.

      Surely this is late, but I've read somewhere that an air leak could be the culprit here, cz when hot the seals and gaskets expand and block any tiny spaces where the air could escape

      Have you checked the cable that connects to your ignition coils? Maybe that could be the problem why you missfire? I had the same issue pop up so I’m getting the car checked now . If I find out the problem I’ll let you know

    Buy your repair manual book and get a good code reader/ programmer, educate yourselves on your baby’s! Find out what parts are known to go out and don’t replace them with cheap parts. GASKETS! Bad grounds, leaking vacuum lines and oil covered engine parts are priority. Don’t put high performance parts on before.

    Mys po305 on E46 had crack coil pack flip it out replace it next day same code went change it next day same code .. went bought 6 spark plugs next day same code again soo since I have hookup pickup 6 Oem injector swap them next day same code at cold startup and I went bought all new o2 sensor swap them and again same fucking Code .. I order brand new coil plug harness and and swap it and again same code po305 ... I don’t know wtf it could be always at cold startup never after its warm or been running for hours .. only overNite startups.

    Maybe you can help my ass misfire in cylinder one I first chase all the spark plugs and nothing changed then I replace cylinder one ignition coil nothing changed in about another spark plug and another ignition coil still nothing change and I took it to my buddy that had a really really expensive scan tool I’ve been running Beamer geeks ProTools but his skin tool said the same thing as mine misfire but then he tested the three wires going from the ignition coil and he said the gray wire was pulsating and that’s the negative that goes to the computer I’m not sure which pinhole I would need to trace I think cylinder six is also a solid gray wire and the other cylinder coils have a stripe he didn’t think it was the injector you didn’t mention if it was dry it’s probably not the injector or if it’s wet then it probably is the injector I think that’s what you said anyways let me know if you went down one of these rabbit holes or should I splice in to that wire and then try to find a pinhole and splicing to that and run a new wire see if it fixes the problem before I cut it?

    I NEED HELP!
    I have a misfire I just can't seem to fix!!I 2010 BMW 335xi N54. I Changed all spark plugs and coil packs. Still misfiring. I replace my index 7 injectors with used index 9 injectors. Ran a little better but still misfired. Can anyone please help?? it's getting so bad that the whole engine is bucking and whistling when accelerating. I can't take it anymore :( Here are the codes I'm getting: 1/13 - P0171 bank 1 system to lean. 2/13 P114B No DTC definition found. 3/13 - P2270 Oxygen sensor signal stuck Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2. 4/13 - P0301Cylinder 1 misfire. 5/13 - P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected. 6/13 - P0300 Random - Multiple Misfire detected. 7/13 - P0171 Bank 1 system to lean. 8/13 - P114B No DTC definition found. 9/13 - P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire. 10/13 - P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected. 11/13 - P0300 Random - Multiple misfire detected. 12/13 - P2195 Oxygen sensor signal stuck biased/ stuck lean bank 1 sensor 1. 13/13 - P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire.
