It makes sense that Naomi and Iga both want to spend time with Maria because she such a head strong and focus woman on and off the court. Naomi and Iga both struggled with not letting social media get to them, although they seem better now.
Iga already has the same number of slams as maria and will likely surpass her number since she is not a social media obsessed person, the only reason maria wasn't affected was because there was no social media when she was playing in her teens and early twenties making it easier to focus on tennis, times were different then. Naomi had mental health issues because she couldn't handle the pressure at that time and unfortunately lost early again in Wimbledon.

The most valuable lesson a current player can learn from Maria would be about legal pharmacological enhancement of their performance. Maria was using it for most of her career, it worked well (she was famous of her stamina), but at some point it got banned and then Maria ran into trouble. Did it pay, at the end of the day? She was treated leniently, she was allowed to come back on court after a couple of months, but she never won anything of value afterwards.
@@kerbiczwhen something is legal for everyone to take you don’t have an advantage. She won two slams before even using it and only played 5 matches after it had been banned. Also a lot of tennis players were using it if you didn’t know which is part of the reason it became banned in the first place. Maria just didn’t get the memo. She also wasn’t the only tennis player to test positive for it after it was banned but I guarantee you can’t name the other two because you simply have a dislike of Maria. Her body had already been breaking down the previous 3 years prior to her getting banned and it just continued once she returned, had nothing to do with the drug. She still beat the 2&3 players in the world after her returning and won a title beating Sabalenka in the final. Her injuries were why she planned on retiring in 2016. She only came back because she didn’t want to end her career that way but her body was already past its prime.

I never bothered watching her play, she always was so tense, and her grunting was terrible. But what an attractive, open minded and well spoken lady she is off the court.
Maria was a great player, and a true star that could manage all additional activities. However, I always feel in her interviews she holds up a facade and you never get to see the real Maria. She wants to keep that perfect, polished image, and that's what helped her in the first place to become a star, but you never get to see true vulnerability or any outgoing Quality, everything is very measured. It's a shame that even after her tennis career she doesn't seem to have let that go.

If any of the girls in the top 5 had the mental toughness and competitiveness of Sharapova they would have 10 majors by now.
It is also so cool to hear Swiatek and Osaka both want advice from Sharapova because Sinner as well has said Sharapova helped him a lot when they had the same coach in how to carry yourself on a tennis court.

“Don’t believe the hype” - this line was about Gauff.
the most beautiful player in all of tennis history.
Never.
No, she is not!
No. Not even in her era. Ana Ivanovic and others were better looking.

What about Maria Butina?
Just think how many more championships she woukd have won if Serena Williams had never been born!
Not much.
I never had a real problem with her but I always found her sort of cold as a person in her pro days. Ofcourse that vibe came through the tv, having not known her personally. But these days she seems to be a lot more warmer and quite a nice woman and more willing to connect ❤ its nice to see!
Icon and Legend!
When the playing days are over, the hair colour goes back to being brunette.
Maria is beautiful ❤️
Maria!!!!!
Yes, or may be she has that unattainable composure ?!) 🤷🏻♀️
❤❤❤❤ Maria❤❤❤
Maria made like 2 million in tennis earnings and 150 million in advertisement deals . That’s how u really play the game . Chris evert said Maria would give up all that money for one more Wimbledon . NOT BLOODY LIKELY !!
miss her
Cant believe the big lie about Serena and her being good friends reflecting about the past! After what she wrote about her in her book...she should be a politician 😅
