Great review! I grew up in Kazakhstan. I remember Nissan Patrols and Toyota Land Cruisers used by the United Nations all over Central Asia especially in conflict zone like Afghanistan, Tadzhikistan as most reliable vehicles available. At some point oil and mining companies tried to bring Suburbans following the U.S. embassy suit. That did NOT work very well given the vast spaces and absence of proper road surfaces at the locations they were operated. In most cases Suburbans designed for smooth roads would not last a year. Patrols and Cruisers won the battle hands down. They were every kid’s dream vehicle at the time.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the 2017+ Armada is such a steal used. The Nissan Patrol it’s based on is a true global market off road vehicle
I am personally a bigger fan of the old Armada. I got a 2014 in 2017 for 18k with 126k miles. It looked new and has been the most awesome vehicle I ever owned since. I like that the old one has a larger trunk.
The newer Patrol based Armada had an unusable 3rd row for me. Not that I would be riding back there but if you get the center captain seats with a rear facing car seat in place there’s a good chance an adult will have to ride in the 3rd row. The 3rd row was way too low for me at just under 6’ tall. From photos it appears that the 1st gen Armada has 3rd row seating that sits up higher. Is that the case? Either way I would probably go with the center bench seat so the car seat can go in the middle.
I’m from México and usually used cars market is always worse here than in the US, but today, I went to a Nissan dealership here in my city and they have a 2017 Nissan Armada (equivalent to the Platinum in the US, literally has everything!, power tail gate, the console in the mid row, the screen in the headrests, all the security stuff with emergency braking and all that) it’s around 63K Km (40K miles) and it’s only $28K 🤯 and I’m literally buying it as soon as I can!! Thanks for this Vid! I’m super happy now!
4:59 It's not only fully independent suspension, it's double wishbone suspension, which is one of the best kind in this category. the only disvantage is they are expensive to build.
**Don't forget that the internal transmission cooler fails early and allows coolant migration into the transmission destroying the transmission. Nissans knows this and covers up the issue. First thing you should do is to install an all aluminum Mishimoto Radiator and then you will have a 500K mile motor and a transmission that will last nearly as long.**
@@shayjohnson5830 apples and oranges you’re comparing a gussied up 4Runner to a full size patrol. Too much Toyota tax on GX LX and land cruiser on the used market. And after the 100 series it’s hard to find any of them without problematic hydraulic suspension systems. I’m about as hardcore Toyota fanboy as it gets….I just purchased a 15 qx80. With 200 series land cruiser money I could have almost bought two Of these Infiniti’s. This truck is the hidden deal on the market
@@mrmoonlight3643 Hi, some information from Central Europe may come in handy. I am sorry for my English...This is the 6th series Nissan Patrol (model Y62) 2010 - present. Patrol is for the North American market under the name Armada. Luxury Armada = Infinity QX 80 (formerly QX56). The previous models Y60 (1987-97) and Y61 (1997 - they were still produced in some markets, they ended up in Central Europe in 2010) were very popular in our country. The most popular in our country was the 2.8TD engine. However, the Y62 is not produced with a diesel engine. Y62 is not imported into Central Europe at all. No one would buy it. The V8 5.6 engine has been in production since 1990. Today, it is an outdated, inefficient engine that will eat you full throttle. The second face lift Armada in 2021 - the engine offers an output of 405 PS 0-100 for 6.6 sec max. 210km / h and the average consumption does not go below 20 liters / 100km. Not even 30 liters is difficult to achieve. For comparison, the same size Mercedes GLS 400 D 2021 is a diesel six-cylinder with a capacity of 2.9 with 324 ps 0-100 for 6.3 and max. 234 km / h, consumption is up to 10 liters / 100km over 12 liters is a problem to get on average. If the V8 5.6 petrol engine is less powerful than the R6 2.9 diesel, then it's very funny. Mercedes GLS with a petrol engine has an output of 430 KW 0-100 in 4.2 sec. Being in your place I would buy a car with an American Hemi engine, because in case of failure there are cheap repair kits. If Nissan breaks down, everything is expensive and I think it's hard to find for you. First sit down and write down what the car must have, if the car will tow a trailer and how heavy, the consumption you expect, equipment, small / large SUV, power and how much it should cost, and only then do you look. And remember: The paint doesn't ride, it sells
@@everycarSeattle Hi Joe great video. I do have a quick question for you.... The Armada when it has a the rear entertainment Do you happen to know if my son wants to watch something on one side and my daughter wants to watch something on the other headrest Is that possible?
No doubt! We were looking at a beautiful silver SL. It had 143k miles but was in amazing shape and had an dealer service history every 5k or so miles from 30k miles all the way until 143k miles. They wanted $23k and that was by far the cheapest around. Someone snatched it up.
@@GrandCamino6they are still cheap. I’ve seen many around 50k miles for around $30k. I’m looking at a platinum reserve with 30k miles for like $38k. Pretty affordable.
@@frankiethefrog1752 We actually just bought a 2016 QX80 Limited for $16,800 which is an insane deal IMO. We were looking at 17-20 Armada Platinum’s as well. The Platinum Reserve is super nice too. There was a pretty decent market adjustment a few months back compared to 2yrs ago. It’s a great time to buy but a terrible time to trade. Fortunately trading wasn’t an issue. We’re just adding to the fleet.
I rented a 2023 Armada in Canada for one full month and put around 3,000 KM on it driving all kinds of roads for different uses. Indeed a tough platform that is built to last. Not short power but thirsty on fuel. 2 things I didn't like are the seating position and performance on rough roads at speed. You will experience some serious jumping on suspension joints or rough patches on the high mostly due to the body on frame structure. I am used to premium vehicles when it comes to seats and I wasn't able to get the seat configuration to feel at home mainly the back and knee support. But all in all it is a machine that can't be beaten for the price.
Nice video Joe! I was in the market for a new race car hauler, and ruled out trucks ($$$$$) and vans (need a 2500; also $$$$.) My one exception to your advice is that I prefer to find low mileage cream puffs, which can require patience and timing. I pounced on a 2020 SV with 44k for $26.5k, but had to drive about 3 hours out of state to nab her. A pain, but worth it!
2010 Nissan Armada owner here. Bought it in 2014. I've never been disappointed with ours when it comes to power and drive train. I'm a bit tired of the interior falling apart and some of the costs of repairs that weren't engine related. It goes anywhere I've ever wanted it to go. Lots of off-road miles and I've never been stuck except once in some deep snow near an 8' drop off a road edge. The only reason I got towed out was so I didn't roll over that edge. The easy entry to the back row was our favorite purchase point.
@@everycarSeattle Yeah, you were! ha ha. I don't blame you though if you needed some "equity" to trade in. I'm going to turn mine into an off-road warrior after we upgrade to new.
Good to see you're still making videos! I ran across your GX470 video randomly. I just picked up one a few months ago and I love it! How it can be so real good and so plush at the same time! That thing is like Schwarzenegger in a tux.
I heard the 2017 being the first model year and the 2018-2019’s had issues with brake wear, the brake switch causing start-up issues, fast draining batteries, and in some cases, transmissions going out very early. Apparently in 2020 these issues were resolved and these, along with the facelifted 2021s are supposed to be better. Any comments on this by chance? I’m looking, but don’t want to get stuck with expensive problems after spending $20-30k on these.
@@mrroboto1660 it seems a lot of those concerns are accurate. I’m also hearing the 2021s had some growing pains with the new electronics in the cabin as well, so it seems Iike 2020 or 2022 and newer are the ones to get (so far).
Joe thanks for your video I’m sure many viewers looking for sports utility such as Armada or Toyota Sequoia will appreciate it I do feel a step down from a Toyota Sequoia in my 2020 armada simply Nissan could’ve easily implemented much more room in the cabin Install storage compartments at not much more of a cost but they intentionally choose to give you bare-bones and the fuel consumption of the Armada is much more then Sequoia even though the engine of Armada is smaller by 100 cc Perhaps in your next video you can do a comparison of Armada V Toyota Sequoia… needless to say that easily Toyota Sequoia holds it’s value and will be considerably much more expensive please include why you think the Armada loses so much price value so fast…
Great review Joe! Very practical thought process. I have a preowned one .They are well built and add to that the Japanese reliability. Great for Canadian winters too !!
Just picked up a 2017 platinum with 120k miles and have a transmission or rpm problem where it keeps going up and down like crazy then stablizes and in the armada facebook groups everyone talking about the transmission problems with them i might return it soon if the dealer i bought it from refuses to fix it cause i’m sure whatever the problem is it will be pricey
I have a 2019 Nissan armada and this years came out with bad transmission. After 120k i did rebuild the transmission with new components in it. It was more money. But i rather have the original transmission with new components. For a use trasmission was going to be 3k. But i was going to have problems after 100k. So switching everything with new stuffs was better. Will see now. So far good. I do drive alot from temecula California to buffalo new York and back. My best cars are toyota sequoia. I owned nothing but toyotas. This is my first different brand car nissan.
What about cylinder wall scorching? Heard it’s a big problem from 2017-2019. Many required complete engine replacement while some had to deal with it due to warranty expiration.
I have a 2012 SV model with 200K miles, and the only major repair was the starter. My Armada is the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned, and I love it so much I'm going to buy another one. I'm going to give my current one to my wife to replace her trash Buick Lacrosse, which is always in the shop.
Hello Joe, great video. Question: What is your opinion on a 2015 Nissan Armada Platinum with 44k miles priced at $21k ? I currently drive a 2012 Pathfinder S with 140k miles and an aftermarket 2" lift. I love the Pathfinder but the seats are not comfortable for long trips. Also, since it is a "S" trim, the seats are not adjustable.
Late to the party, but would like to know what your opinion of the 2015 model of the Nissan Armada? Presently located overseas in the Gulf, the most popular vehicles on the road are: Lexus, Toyota, etc. Is there any difference with the Nissan Armadas' outside of North America? We are looking at one valued at $15K and 67K miles. 2015 Nissan Armada LE/Platinum. Your insight is valued and appreciated.
Thank you for your review, I'm interested in the armada, im located in the northeast not even with over 100k miles can find something under 28k. 2017 or 2018.
We have a 2020 SV that we bought new. It is a fantastic vehicle, fun to drive and relaxing to ride in. Yes, the gas mileage sucks however as my Grandaddy used to say "It'll pull the lips off a chicken for sure" I'm translating that to mean it has great power when you need it and a rock solid ride to boot! Also, we have had zero mechanical issues with 65,000 miles so far.
Just bought a 2017 platinum for 15,000 has 145,000 on it. It has every option available. The previous owner bought it new, single woman ,City miles. Every service has been done on it from brand new at the dealership she bought it from Carfax is absolutely immaculate everything has been documented it's probably the most documented vehicle I've ever seen every service that the owners manual recommends has been done when she sold it to us she went and had new air compressor put on it new brakes new tires had all the service redone and it feels like a brand new vehicle smells like a brand new vehicle actually I feel like that was a hell of a deal.
15 or 16mpg? All highway? Were lucky to hit 13.8mpg on our 2019. It's our second one the first was 9 months old when hurricane Sally flooded her. It got the same mileage.
I have a growing family and a Minivan is a no go for my wife. Currently, i have an older Tahoe and a new Audi Q5 I was considering a Surburban but 19’ long is a bit much for my garAge. The Expedition has the V6 Turbo which need new Cam Phaser as low as 75k miles. My brother had a Nissan Titan with the 5.6l and I Loved that powertrain. It could really tow. I have my eyes set on an Armada Platnium for $23k. I can’t wait.
I know I’m years late but I just seen one online at a known dealership in my area for $20k. It only has 26k miles. The year model is a 2017. Any reason why it’s priced so low especially coming from a known dealer?
Thank you for this video , I.ve been debating what SUV should I get, I had a Nissan Patrol in my hometown country 1993 model , I sold it to my brother and it is still running 350,000 miles in it, your video reminded me that I don't need to shop around and stick with what I've always knew .
I forgot about this, because I've only ever seen like 1 on the road by me, and only 2 qx80s of this generation as well. The Patrol is a cool af SUV overseas so this has i be pretty great. Just put a rubberized coating on the frame
Hello, today I looked at a 2018 Plantinum reserve with 83,000 miles and he’s asking $26,000, it’s not by a dealer and has no warranty and he stated he just did brakes rotors and oil change. Am I paying too much or is this a reasonable price ? I would greatly appreciate it !!
Under $20k?! Pre-covid price hikes maybe. Also, when you get into the higher mileage 2017+ examples which you MIGHT be able to find for less than $20k you'll get the pleasure of cleaning the buildup caused by the direct fuel injection. An easy fix on a small 4cylinder Volkswagen but good luck ever getting that caked on gunk with these honkin' 5.6 liter v8 motors. I absolutely love the overseas Y62 patrol but literally any Toyota product with 4wd and a V8 will serve you better than our USDM Armada. Looking forward to the video!!
Awesome comments Wretched! I have been so lucky to buy and sell maybe 500 pre-owned Infiniti QX56 and QX80's as well as a great many Armadas. (Being a used car director for such a long time at such a big store is why - I had amazing salespeople who made me look better than I really was). When the new QX came out it was bashed for having bad timing chains and any number of quality control issues. This goes all the way back to 2004 when QX56 and Armada's were brand new and had terribly warping brakes (which was true) and DVD players literally falling from the ceiling of people's vehicles (also true). Americans brake late and they hadn't accounted for it was Nissan/Infiniti's company line. DVD's weren't initially planned and were a last minute add was their excuse for the Chicken Little DVD player problem. So the platform had a bad rep. However, turns out the 2004-2010 (especially 2008-2010) QX56's and 2004-2016 (especially 2008 and newer) Armada's were awesome SUV's that hit 300,000 miles every time with proper service. However, the reputation lives on (and those weak early timing chains didn't help) and folks are scared of this platform with miles, which drives the price down...a lot. A private party 90,000 mile SV can be had for $18000 all day because the dealer only takes that truck in trade for 14000-15000. A 2001 4Runner with 90k brings that kind of money on Bringatrailer. A case could be made that the 4Runner is a better truck is why, but I digress. Armada's are hardly perfect, smallish 3rd row seats. smallish trunk and 16 combined mpg's to name a few...but 18 grand? It's like that commercial where choosing Charles Barkley is the no brainer of the century.
@@everycarSeattle Not disagreeing with anything you just typed but your original headline was for 2017+ model years, which is why I brought up the direct injection issues that are known to occur on the 2017+ model Armadas (and the Y62 platform-sharing 2011+ QX56/QX80). I love this platform but the DI engines don't bode well for relatively maintenance-free ownership as they age. And the only other point I was making was that these Y62 models of Armada (17+) and QX56/80 can not be had for under $20k in today's (inflated) market. In the current market, as a consumer and not a dealer, that's nearly an impossible find. Love your videos and not picking a fight, I'm just saying that I don't agree with the market assessment from a non-dealer consumer perspective right now and that folks should know the require Direct Inection cleaning is a major service to be performed every 90k at a minimum. Kind of like a timing belt except the DI de-caking can happen as early as 25k miles depending on driving habits.
Obviously you know quite a lot about Direct Injection technology Wretched...for people new to the concept here is a great link from a service shop back east called Strut Daddy's that really spells it out: strutdaddys.com/the-truth-about-gasoline-direct-injection-how-to-care-for-your-gdi-engine/ And for anyone ready to pull the trigger, here's a 2-owner 2018 SV with Driver Package and a clean Carfax that the dealer is asking 19995: www.riverheadnissan.com/inventory/Used-2018-Nissan-Armada-SV-JN8AY2ND0J9053125/ You are 200% right about high prices, but prices are already starting to come down and if I'm a used car dealer I'm looking to make some deals and avoid a lot of heavy inventory when the market makes a pretty quick move back to near normal...thank you so much for your valuable insight Wretched, it really is super important for people to have the fullest possible picture before spending their hard-earned money.
@@everycarSeattle All good in the hood, just having a conversation! You can definitely find RWD examples for (just) under 20k like the one you linked to. The problem with DI motors is that there really is no fix for them. The link you provided explains that yes, DI clogs the intakes but it fails to say what their techs do in terms of maintenance to prevent this clogging from occuring. That's because, sadly, there's no single product you can buy to fix nor as preventative maintenance to avoid the buildup. You have to physically remove the manifold and either scrape using a pinhole camera as your guide, or utilize a walnut/media blaster to get rid of the buildup. Like most technological "advances" to the automobile, it's a great idea but somehow the long-term problems are rarely thought through. Rather, they're considered and then just put into production and passed on as a cost for the consumer to digest rather than build the most reliable vehicle possible for the best price like Japanese manufacturers did for most of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Today's (American) consumer, however, burns through vehicles at a nearly bi-annual rate, rather than hanging onto them for a decade or more. I know because I used to be that very wasteful consumer! Haha. I'll keep my chain drive, port injection Toyota where my biggest preventative maintenance cost is an Aisin transmission flush every 30k-50k miles (costs you about 129-199 at the Toyota dealer... Life hack, the Toyota dealer will service Lexus transmissions too at a fraction of the cost the Lexus dealer charges!)
@@wretchedrider2157 it sucked to find a vehicle then find out it has Di. Auto stores sell stuff in cans that can clean di (rolling my eyes). A shop quoted somebody $650.00 for walnut shell cleaning, that was a few years back
9:47 Holy moly that UPS truck was jamming! Looked like it anyway. Probably just going the speed limit in the express lane. What can brown do for you? LOL
6-26-2021 Hi Joe, do you know if the Nissan Certified Per Owned extended warranty covers the direct injection cleaning? We are retired and looking at a 2018 Armada Platinum with 35,000 miles that is Certified, is this warranty even worth having? It's $1,499 added on top of the price of the truck and they act like it's mandatory should I just skip this one and move on?
The Nissan CPO is an extension of the powertrain warranty only. I love warranties but powertrains so rarely go bad on Japanese vehicles within 7 years that it's effectively pure profit. However, they can upgrade you to a "wrap" warranty that converts the powertrain only warranty to a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Typically, dealers try to sell these for way above cost so the value of them depends on what you can buy it for. They are not required to do a direct injection cleaning as part of the CPO, but obviously it could be negotiated into any deal. Here is a link to some opinions and ideas about Nissan direct injection - www.titantalk.com/threads/injector-intake-cleaning.428125/
I just picked up a 2018 platinum reserve with 63k for 32k. Absolutely love it! I have the captains chairs in the back instead of the row. My kids love that part. We also have an MDX but we wanted something bigger. I don’t drive too much daily so the mileage is staying low. It’s also a color I’ve never seen until I got it. It’s like a copper red. Amazing ❤️
Thank you for the video. I just purchased a 2012 Platinum 4wd. It was immaculate with 92K on it. I paid 15,500. I hope this is NOT going to be a money pit. So many high-tech stuff. I hope I can fiqure it all out! A big leap from my 1998 Tacoma and 1985 Chevy both with Crank Windows. I wanted this to pull my 2 horses in an aluminum Trailer.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! We were in Berkeley checking our oldest into college and we were lucky enough to connect with lots of people from my childhood over a couple of really fun weeks. But as much as I enjoy my hometown, the odds of me ever moving from Hawaii are pretty much zero...Waikoloa is literally the best place to live in the world 🏝🌈❤
The Armada and the Patrol are offered only with the V8 gasoline engine for the entire world. The Y61 was retired I believe in 2016 with the last model with a diesel option. All Armadas, QX80's and Patrol's are all gasoline moving forward and eventually will be phased out for everything electrical. Great vehicle though. Love the Armada!
Patrol y61 is still sold in middle east gasoline version. In Europe last y61 was sold somewhere in 2008/09. I think there is no big difference in fuel consuption in comparison with gasoline patrol and diesel land cruiser. Thats the reason why there is no diesel.
Walter, I have always known the day would come where the S2000 went nuts and that day is officially upon us. If you can find a reasonably priced S2000, any color, any year, it is worth it's weight in gold and only going up. One of the most special cars of our generation and one of the 20 most important sports cars of all time. That AP2 should be closer to 26000 however. 34000 is for miles in the high 30's. Bring a Trailer has an original S2000 with only 37 miles...anything under 60 grand is a steal on that car. bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-honda-s2000-96/
Bro, do you work for Nissan... I'm sold! I'm m thinking of purchasing a 2013 with 160,000 miles on it excellent interior nearly perfect exterior, just a few scratches on it. He think that's a good deal?
I’m looking for a tow vehicle for my start up as well as a suv platform to Turo when not using it to move our food trailer. I went from trucks to suvs and bang for the buck with reliability landed on these - That being said we’re only looking to spend about 12000 so I’m not sure what year and trim best could fit that budget
I've heard that the 2004-2015 first generation Armada are notorious for having catalytic converter issues which can lead to engine problems. Is this true and are there any pointers you may have for a potential new owner such as myself?
So you can get headers on eBay for 300 bucks. Have a muffler shop weld straight pipe the same length as the catalytic converter with a flange at the end to bolt it up. Then on your rear o2 sensors, install a sparkplug non fouled up to 3. This will prevent the check engine light from coming on. That is of course if you dont have emissions for it. The cats will sell to a scrap yard for around 600 bucks
These are definitely a diamond in the rough. They are cheap because historically nobody really wants a full size Nissan trucks compared to GM, Ford. They don’t have the reputation like the Sequoia but I think the armada is a very solid, proven truck. The QX80 can be had for not much more. They are definitely better brought used. The depreciation hit on new is way too much. I see 2019 Armadas sub 40k.
There’s plenty of 2021+ armadas for sale $40,000 too with about 60,000 miles on them. Im talking about the SL trim, too. The 2021’s have apples CarPlay with to me is a big deal.
'Old-school' is the best school. I prefer the looks of the 1st generation Armada. Nissan makes great trucks; maybe half a step behind Toyota. I would argue that the Armada competes more against the Toyota Sequoia than the 4Runner. The pre-2013 Pathfinder was more similar to the 4Runner. Enjoy these BIG combustion engine trucks while you can. I think in about 2 years, ALL of the large 'people mover' SUV's and trucks will be electric, especially based on current gas prices ($3.39/gallon............and rising, in the northeastern U.S.).
This has nothing to do with the first gen Armada. Its a Nissan Patrol rebadged as an Armada for the US market. It competes around the world with the Land Cruiser.
nice video explaining the armada, I was talked out of the armada man said the headers constantly break. then I hear it's not 100% Nissan it's half renault an there cheapness is why the brokon headers issues where never fixed.I'm a chevy man but am done w/ thembc of the displacement on demand where 4 cylinders deactivate while cruising on expressway, it's a defective sys. GM needs a class action lawsuit. anyway I've had a 84300zx for over 15 years thought it was a excellent car.
I want to seat 3 people in front (like my truck), 3 in middle and 3 in back when im hauling family. with a V6 and 4x4. Don't really need a v8 wish they had that option.
Alhamdulillah in my experience owning nissan/infiniti, they are more reliable than the toyota/lexus. Especially when you take good care of your Nissan's vehicle with service routine with good oil, good spare parts and so on , in sya Allah they are more-more reliable. 🙂👍

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the 2017+ Armada is such a steal used. The Nissan Patrol it’s based on is a true global market off road vehicle
Exactly, reliability is awesome
Hows reliability...?
Well, those are made in Mexico, while the newer generation Armadas are made in Japan just like Landcruisers.
Careful with the catalytic converters

Getting delivered tomorrow!
I got 2008 Armada 242K miles, runs just fine, I bought for 1400$!!
I’ve got V8 also, I noticed oil leak near the cap, tmrw the vehicle getting fresh oil change. Then 🤞🏽 my fingers .
Have a 2015 nissan armada platinum reserve. 144000km 1st generation base on nissan titan pick up. Still love it running perfectly.
* DONT FORGET THAT THE MODEL HE IS SHOWING IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE 1ST GEN. Mishimoto does not make an all aluminum Radiator for this model.
On an Armada? I thought that was a unique problem to 4.0 powered frontier's and pathfinder's (?).
@@CommonArea-y5iit is. Don’t listen to that fella.
Liked this video immediately bc I’ve been looking at secondhand Armadas and there’s tons of deals to be had with the second gen.

We bought a Platinum Reserve new in 2014, has been flawless now at 120K and has taken my family through some hellish road conditions.
"The beautiful city of Oakland, CA." That's something you don't hear everyday.
It used to be along with S.F. Not so much today.
Beautiful if you like chaos
I snagged a new 2019 platinum for 49k at the end of the year before Covid hit bad. Still only has 14k miles. Think I’m gonna be good for a while.
Great video. Unfortunately, in this ridiculous market, I’m not sure the value is still there, certainly not at 20k
Likely be looking at 30k now. 😪
Wish they would make some models without the unsightly louver on the fender. I like the look of the 1st Gen better.
Im in the market for a used SUV and this was such a great review. Thank you! 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
We used to have a 2004 QX56 that was similar to your Armada and that thing would have gone forever. We were nuts to ever cut it loose.
I had a 2014 Armada Platinum and now I have a 2019 Armada Platinum Reserve. They are both great vehicles, but the 2014 had a softer ride.
Great question, did you get it figured out? I’m reading some of the same stuff and I’m shopping in that year range.
@@mrroboto1660 it seems a lot of those concerns are accurate. I’m also hearing the 2021s had some growing pains with the new electronics in the cabin as well, so it seems Iike 2020 or 2022 and newer are the ones to get (so far).
Joe thanks for your video I’m sure many viewers looking for sports utility such as Armada or Toyota Sequoia will appreciate it
I do feel a step down from a Toyota Sequoia in my 2020 armada
simply Nissan could’ve easily implemented much more room in the cabin Install storage compartments at not much more of a cost but they intentionally choose to give you bare-bones and the fuel consumption of the Armada is much more then Sequoia even though the engine of Armada is smaller by 100 cc
Perhaps in your next video you can do a comparison of Armada V Toyota Sequoia…
needless to say that easily Toyota Sequoia holds it’s value and will be considerably much more expensive
please include why you think the Armada loses so much price value so fast…
Just bought a 2013 armada sv. So far , I looooooove it

If it's immaculate, it's a great buy
What about cylinder wall scorching? Heard it’s a big problem from 2017-2019. Many required complete engine replacement while some had to deal with it due to warranty expiration.
Hi mate! Is this SUV with air suspension ? Have you had any troubles with the suspension or with the automatic gearbox?
I have a 2012 SV model with 200K miles, and the only major repair was the starter. My Armada is the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned, and I love it so much I'm going to buy another one. I'm going to give my current one to my wife to replace her trash Buick Lacrosse, which is always in the shop.
Would you recommend buying a 2018 1 owner with 81k miles on it
Hello Joe, great video.
You can get 2-3 FJ Cruisers for an Armada (Patrol) in Aus, such is the reputation of the Patrol.

I'm following you because you're from my home town, and I love my Armada.
15 or 16mpg? All highway? Were lucky to hit 13.8mpg on our 2019. It's our second one the first was 9 months old when hurricane Sally flooded her. It got the same mileage.
Pretty consistently we were seeing 13/18 city/highway...maybe a click higher on the highway if it was smooth sailing

Are all Infiniti versions made in Japan? Is there a particular year that is more reliable?
Obviously you know quite a lot about Direct Injection technology Wretched...for people new to the concept here is a great link from a service shop back east called Strut Daddy's that really spells it out: strutdaddys.com/the-truth-about-gasoline-direct-injection-how-to-care-for-your-gdi-engine/
And for anyone ready to pull the trigger, here's a 2-owner 2018 SV with Driver Package and a clean Carfax that the dealer is asking 19995: www.riverheadnissan.com/inventory/Used-2018-Nissan-Armada-SV-JN8AY2ND0J9053125/
You are 200% right about high prices, but prices are already starting to come down and if I'm a used car dealer I'm looking to make some deals and avoid a lot of heavy inventory when the market makes a pretty quick move back to near normal...thank you so much for your valuable insight Wretched, it really is super important for people to have the fullest possible picture before spending their hard-earned money.

They offer a 4litre v6 in the middle East and 2 specs of v8 a 320 and 400 bhp one

Is $20k for an 80k miles still good in 2024?
4Runner doesn’t have 3rd row seat. Sequoia is the comparison but about 10k more and of course more reliable.
4Runner limited has 3rd row seats. But it’s a mid size SUV.
I have a 2013 Armada with 121k miles. I haven't had any issues only thing not stock is flowmaster or exhaust
It's pretty common. I hit 140K and got the dreaded engine code. Cost me over 3k to get if fixed right.
@@ahrisho cost you what? The read got cut off
I'm looking at a 2004 model has about 240k miles on it
Just under 4 thousand dollars
Do they really have transmission and brake issues?
Thanks for this video, thanks to you! Now I am a owner of a 2020 Armada SL
These are a bargain and people overlook them. Best of all, they are built in Japan.
You made an awesome explanation
Should I buy this or a Lexus gx?
nice video explaining the armada, I was talked out of the armada man said the headers constantly break. then I hear it's not 100% Nissan it's half renault an there cheapness is why the brokon headers issues where never fixed.I'm a chevy man but am done w/ thembc of the displacement on demand where 4 cylinders deactivate while cruising on expressway, it's a defective sys. GM needs a class action lawsuit. anyway I've had a 84300zx for over 15 years thought it was a excellent car.
Do you run regular gas?
Thanks great video
Great explanation! Lots of detailed information.
I want to seat 3 people in front (like my truck), 3 in middle and 3 in back when im hauling family. with a V6 and 4x4. Don't really need a v8 wish they had that option.
May be a dumb question but is the qx 56/80 the same mechanically?
Great video
Alhamdulillah in my experience owning nissan/infiniti, they are more reliable than the toyota/lexus. Especially when you take good care of your Nissan's vehicle with service routine with good oil, good spare parts and so on , in sya Allah they are more-more reliable. 🙂👍
Zana be like - praise be god this car doesn’t suck 🤲 lol. Congrats Zana.
