  • Well this isn't how I planned the first Polaris video of the season to go. This sled looked so good and Ben from Altitude Powersports and I were so stoked for some wild content on this beast. Even though the sled ended up getting destroyed I sill have a lot of respect for Ben and the way he does business. He's a super nice guy and has had great communication with me throughout this whole deal. Go show him some love for trying to get me on such a bad ass sled. altitudepowersports.ca

I was on the SAR team that got the rider out of the bush and to the hospital. Very glad to hear he’s doing well, it was a gnarly scene upon our arrival. I recognized your logos as soon as we landed, a beautiful machine in an unfortunate scenario. Excited to see what’s next!

Boost seems to be the tool for your locale, but a 9R with some extras would be sweet to see ! Local fella had an 850 Patriot with the SLP twins on it and was really happy with the power, and has a set ordered for his 9R now ! I had a set planned for the new shop sled, but it looks like I'll be on a Gen5 this winter.

This could of easily gone bad for all involved. The rider being ok is obviously the best thing and your response and understanding are phenomenal! Ben stepping up and without hesitation is so often not seen. It will undoubtedly hurt his wallet but the respect he will get for his business and himself I’m sure will offset this horrible accident. I’ve been left with badly damaged or blown up sleds before that the “friend “ riding felt no responsibility for at all.
I will be sure to mention him his business and his honourable actions and yours to my sledding friends and acquaintances.

It would have been so cool if you went for a 146 this year. I miss the content where you went up against the longer tracks on your’e 146 freeride. It was so cool to see what you could do with that thing. A 2023 146 polaris 9R or a 2023 146 850 lynx shredder would have been so cool. Keep up the good work ;)

Every business promises great ethics and professionalism but once the sheet hits the fan you get to see the true colors.... MASSIVE respect to the owner operators of this business!!!🔥... I would go with something that will be compatible with any aftermarket parts that are still good, therfore its not a complete scrap... I don't sled but used to do freestyle MX, it was always hard to find a really good trustworthy shop, the community should really step up and take any maintenance work to this shop even if it's a little further away, we NEED shops like this to stay around!

You break it, you fix it or buy it. Period! If you are riding uninsured then the rider is responsible for the damage. I have had to many folks borrow my stuff and return it broken or destroyed and act like they have no responsibility for fixing their screw-up. I am not saying this is the case here but, I had to stop being the guy with the extra sled, motorcycle, rafting equipment, camera gear, etc. I have been shocked by how often people don't offer to take care of damage they have caused or even mention it. I am very glad that the rider is OK and it sounds like Ben is more than a stand-up guy. Linx has a 165 model with the wider track right? Flotation and say 220+hp, sounds like a winner. You can even justify it as a business expense since you are using the sled to get into hard to reach places for better camera angles. Honestly when it comes to hitting trees it's 100 percent on the rider I have over 10 years of riding experience and only been stuck in a tree well once and was my fault, if you weren't riding it at the time the person rising it is 100 percent responsible for the replacement or money to replace the sled, don't borrow something if you can't afford it, even if you built it you're responsible possibly even more so, it's definitely a shitty situation but was avoidable in my opinion.

That sucks, that is a lot of effort the guy put out that disappeared in the crash. Glad the rider is O.K. sounds like it was a really violent impact. As long as the rider is o.k. the rest is a broken tool/toy and it is what it is. When my brother took one of my sleds out for the first time he managed to run it into a spruce tree about eight feet off the ground at 45+. He did $2k in damages in his first five min. He was freaked out until I explained that it was just all part of sledding, no sweat, we picked up the parts, he learned to rebuild the front end of a 600 XLT and we went riding again the next day.
850 Khaos boost 165, use all the undamaged mods of the (now) parts sled and mod it. Make it insane within the bounds of reasonable reliability, but something that will climb anything anyone short of the pro mod Jackson Hole sleds will climb. :)
    Just my thought...

You should get a boost 165 and send it over to them so they can rebuild it like they did with your other boost. Are you going to put on any mods to your 9r this year?

What about a 4 stroke build? 🤔 In Scandinavia we have the lynx xterrain 3700 900 Turbo R don't know if you have this in the US/Canada. i would love to see a xterrain with a 3900 track (154) and mods.

No telling if it would have made a difference but it’s always bugged me that the Munster throttle eliminates the safety switch intended to detect a stuck throttle. Like others have said I’m glad he’s OK and you guys handled it like you did.

I’d say get a 155 boost and do the 165 track so the tunnel is real short and just build a clone of that one because it looks soooooooo good. If you’re willing though with the tuning go with bikeman performance out of Idaho. They’re tuning for the skidoos is miles ahead of silber but I’m not familiar with they’re Polaris stuff. And for the muffler go with a diamond S titanium, not to loud but when you get in her she sings pretty good.

I still think the 9R is the sled for you Matt since you live in the trees. I don’t understand the people suggesting a Lynx when you’re already on a G5. That doesn’t make any sense. If Cat had their new motor ready, seeing a Catalyst would be cool as well. Hopefully that 9R arrives soon!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Where are you riding where the snow is that deep in muskoka? I’m only asking because I’m not far from you at all…. Like 15 mins from gravenhurst. I’ve never seen snow deep enough to even use a paddle track like that.
Are you trailering farther up north?
Sorry to hear about the sled. You’re handling it like a class act.

At least it didn't blow up on startup or catch on fire when hitting the brakes 😆. In all seriousness though I hope the rider is alright. These things happen unfortunately. I've had throttles stick a bit on old sleds and it's definitely a pucker moment where things can go real bad real fast. Stay alert and stay safe out there.
