I’m just amazed at the terrain modern sleds can get into. 25 years ago, even the big mod sleds couldn’t get anywhere near that stuff. I had a stock Cat King Cat, and it was amazing, but damn, it wouldn’t get another in this vids terrain. Modern tech and engineering is so good.
@@drifter5682 na, unless your go into a rapid disassembly the new slads will go into limp mode so you can go back down & figure out whats wrong. Most of today's sleds are much more dependable as well.
Someone may have pointed this out before but carbon fiber conducts electricity pretty well. You could be having some sort of short from your key area if its directly touching the carbon. Try giving it a wrap with some electrical tape if its touching any carbon that may eliminate your key issue.
I made a comment about the carbon fiber possibly reflecting the RFI from the open arcs of the spark plugs back and messing with the RFID reader in the key switch. May be able to clean up the signal by putting a ferrite bead on the ignition wiring or wrapping it around a toroid.
This is THE best and most impressive snowmobile video I have EVER seen and I have watch you and Caleb and burant and much more for many years. Both your filming and your riding and that sled are out of this world good. Keep it up and keep pushing those crazy lines, they make my heart pump
None I think. I don’t want to say that Muskoka is the best rider just that the things he did in this video with that 75 where jaw dropping and if I could choose this is the type of content I would want to watch:)
@@jespercarlsson740 If you think this was impressive, you should watch his video with all the Polaris riders from a few videos ago. THAT was some impressive riding.
All I can say, is I have been watching your videos from the very beginning, and it is so awesome to see how much you have progressed. You are a top-notch Rider and do some incredibly impressive stuff. I don't know in regards to what type of sponsorship you should have but you should definitely be sponsored. Appreciate all the videos and please keep up the great work
No. I'm not going to do it. I won't be peer-pressured. Dawson: I think you CAN do it. OK, let me see. .. makes it and everyone is stoked. Felt like I was there cheering you on with the crew, great clip
Man, it fun watching the progression of these guys. Remember when they said stock was best. Reliability is more fun then wrenching, and then they rode with the pros. It been fun to watch them come to the dark side
Matt, your issue with the key is due to the carbon. Carbon fiber will conduct electricity. it is also likely Grounded due to it touching frame areas. This turns all of your carbon panels into a faraday cage (blocks radio signals, or could potentially emit them if there is noise.) its not a good one but obviously enough to mess with the key. have someone 3d print you a small panel you can cut a hole in the carbon to isolate they key unit. prob 6in circle is enough space.
I watched that log drainage rip on Caleb’s channel! It was gnarly but I died laughing when Andreas was coming out of it and got bodied by the snow bank at the end.
On the old 2017s when you installed the mtntk blow hole you sometimes had to run an extra ground from the fan to the frame instead of just using the accessory wires ground or you would have these exact dess key issues.
Getting stuck is learning the limits of your machine I have taken my side x side on wheels so for I have surprised guys on timber sleds of course I was on the logging road but I made a surprising distance before the snow started to get soft enough where the snowmobile tracks were not holding my machine up anymore
Is the key issue caused by the carbon hood reflecting some RF back into the system? Any way you can shield the wiring or add some ferrite beads? Could also need better grounding.
I had similar issue. I put Christmas lights on my sled ran off an inverter, and it affected the key. Just had to flip the inverter off and then back one once the key registered.
The dess key might just need some fine tuning, but man you're rippin on that skidoo! Good to see the polaris sleds clutches and spark plugs are holding up too. Push the limits and be safe on that monster!
Hey bud, not sure if you’re aware but you can make clicker adjustments to just one clicker if you’re trying to fine tune your RPM. The common practice is you have to change all 3 together for balance, but that’s not the case
Always a great video, too bad you couldn't change your DES key to a normal key, wonder if you change that carbon piece back to plastic or would raising the key up more, weird how the carbon messes it up!
Holy hot damn that is one helluva sled. I will say though I will be surprised if that beast makes it thru the year. That means you’re riding like a professional…which technically you are!
One day I burned 38 liters with a gen4 165 NA and another guy in my group burned 28 liters with his gen5 175 turbo and he broke trail and climbed just as much as me. You'll for sure burn more on deep days but I was really surprised how efficient the 175 is since it just climbs.
How much of the mod sled is weight savings Vs the 175 track? I think it would be an awesome test to put a shorter track on it and see what you can do. Keep it up Matt!!!
The CHECK KEY OR wrong key can be electrical interference as skidoo has had models where if other electric wires /harness are to close to the dess post it will cause this , not sure how your harness is but try space electrical away , if that don’t fix it I’d get a new key or dead post , they aren’t that much money , most dealers should have them in stock and shouldn’t take them long to do ,
Really sucks how any metal, carbon or even fiber glass screws those keys. So many badass builds, then the key is just zip tied out in the open somewhere. And, Dawson is a badass and needs a 175!
Muskoka, what do you think of those Polaris skis on the mod sled? I have been riding a lynx shredder ds 4100 for two-ish seasons now and the factory skis are miserable in all but the perfect snow conditions (powder). They’re ungodly stiff and so wide it makes it significantly more difficult to maintain a sidehill. Was thinking of switching them out to the 4th/5th gen doo skis but I am intrigued about the poo skis. Also as far as fuel consumption goes, it’s crazy how much more efficient long tracks are. I regularly burn two gallons less than my riding buddy on his boost 155” in a day. We’re practically driving hybrids at this point! SaVin tHe woRLd!
Your Mod is a beast, you make Jan riding look like April riding, when it looks steep on a video then you know it is really steep. Awesome content, did Dawson have his long track 175 on that sled ? or just the 165 ?
The electronic key thing is a pain in the ass. We have an ATX we can't use without a 1300$ new ecu because of it. They need to make a simple override to a togle switch if need be. If they get near strong magnets they can stop working.
Have you had the mod sled tuned yet? I haven't been able to watch all the videos so I might've missed if you mentioned it. Looks like an absolute weapon nonetheless!
You need to find someone with a BUDS setup to disable the security or a none security DESS post that Ski-Doo was putting on sleds during the chip shortage.
Dawson is fun to have around I bet, always has a huge smile and so chill, Another top notch vidya.
Dawson is a Surfer on a snowmobile, just laid back with a big smile, just like Spicoli from
Fast Times at Ridgemont High movie.
I’d say if Dawson makes a 175 you and him would get into some wicked places lol Dawson make a 175 boost !
100% agree

The way that snowmobile can just keep tractoring up hills is insane

@lovegunn22 he has a can. I'm not dogging them. It just funny to see the anti can, leave em completely stock crew. Now going full mods.
@jaysonsorensen594 My only point was the Reliability of the motor when he does a tune. Things tend to not last with mods
@@lovegunn22 I've seen stock sleds blow as fast at tuned ones. It all depends on how far you go on tune and who does it
One good thing about having a 175 with a group is you can make lines for others to track poach to get where you go.
Some of the Lines were sick!!!! Great stuff The can was wild!!!!

holy crap Matt that sled is just insane , some of those climbs look impossible, and you just went right up with no problem!! wow
Why does Dawson's sled always sound like it's bouncing off a rev limiter?
thing sounds awesome though haha
He needs more weight on his clutch
That's traction control
Just noticed it as well. Needs some more weight yes or it’s the waste gate opening and closing like you hear on a lot of Subarus
That's the waste gate opening and closing to prevent overboost. Waste gate bypasses the turbine after full boost is achieved.
