Ive noticed as ive gotten better that you can make your shortstop cleaner by bringing "in" your thumb and flipping the knife over closer to the pivots. Thats eaxctly the opposite of what Jelly is saying here, which is accurate for a beginner, but for making shortstop cleaner for flippers that have a little time under their belts this could help💯
i bought a metal knife and it sucked i keep pinching my thumb when trying to do a certin trick now that i bought the a plastic one off of you guys its so much better thx
I feel like 60fps video would be a better choice for these videos, especially since it gives more information about what to do and where to put your fingers. I know people are going to fight me on this, but for tutorials more frames = more info on how to learn.
I can land it clean, but for every time I land it clean I get stuck in that split position five times. I'm using a Vulpe and I halfway blame the knife because the blade doesn't seem to be heavy enough to sink down between my fingers. I take it this is an easy trick to execute and a hard trick to finish.
No individual trick is "advanced," per se. Among core/basic tricks, there is definitely a split between easy and difficult tricks though (shortstop is in the middle, leaning more towards easy. Tricks like giraffe, CATs, double scissor are towards the top)
This is not a beginner trick imo. I would rate this as mid-intermediate because the timing is very hard to get used to without cutting yourself. You could easily get into a reverse middle chap and get a ring of shame with this trick.
Here's a "Shortstop" to the prerequisite to help your learning experience!
Reverse Thumb Rollover:

Every time I get cut, I get a little better at flipping with my off hand. Thanks for these videos! Hope you heal up fast.
get well soon jelly!
What happens?

Lol I've been doing it with my pointer finger this whole time, it works way more consistently with the middle finger. Thanks Jelly!

My hands are too small to get the handles to close without using my index 😢
Yeah I’ve had multiple ring of shames on my fingers and it’s just pain when you try to do any sort of Chaplin on that finger.
