Hey! Just wanted to say this is a great tutorial, but i have one question, when i use my regular squiddy for this trick, the blade stays straight up, how can i stop this?
I'm struggles for days and keep get the blade pointing up. If you get that too, use less force let the balisong momentum spin itself, and grip more loosely give more room for the safe handle to spin and slightly tilt it forward
I have a very cheap balisong and I struggle with the blade just going up instead of making the T. Sometimes I can perform it correctly, but im not sure about my technique. Any solutions? Update: I can do it if I hold the handle really close to the blade and the other handle.
I just started flipping a few days ago. Only know a few tricks that I'm okay at not consistent but still progress. The fan is not one of them, it is the hardest trick I've been trying and I cannot get the hang of it lol.
Hey Jelly, I know that this is an old vid, but I can't do the fan and I have a cheap all metal Bali from Amazon. I plan to upgrade to the Will Hirsch x Nabalils trainer, but It's very handle heavy. Is that why I can do it or is it a skill issue?
I’m ngl the squidy trainer was insanely good it’s super durable but the only problem is that the damn screws keep falling out so u have any tips to fix?
here’s a problem I have trying to do this; not sure why it keeps happening yet, but whenever I try to keep fanning, the blade just won’t stay parallel with the bite handle, and instead, it’s parallel with the safe handle. not really sure how to word it exactly, I guess the knife stays horizontal instead of vertical. maybe the blade I have (not rlly a blade, it’s a comb) is too heavy but idk.
@@rileywall1249 I can nail it now, thanks for that, I didn't realize at the time. I also just now realized that a better way to describe my problem was that I kept doing a spike fan instead of a regular one... :D
This is supposed to be easy, but for the life of me, I can't do it. I can feebly do the spike fan. That's it. I'm so bummed because this little trick looks amazing for something so supposedly simple
What's the secret to getting the blade to not stick up when trying to fan? I've seen comments just say "gO fAsTeR" but speed doesn't help when the blade STARTS sticking out immediately after going into the open.
please help I keep doing spike fan instead of regular fan, I tried to do it faster but the it goes to a position where the index finger is in between the handle and the blade. Any advice?
Hey guys, i know this video is a bit old so i dunno if i'll get any responces but I'm having some trouble getting this fan (i've been trying for a few days). Whenever I use the momentum of the handle the blade always sticks up creating a sideways t if that makes sence (like a t on it's side). Maybe it's got something to do with my bali weight distrabution? Please help
I can’t seem to fan for very long (few sec) or at all without the blade just sticking up instead of swinging around with the handle. Any tips to fix this?
@@xrty9y874 Yes, since if the balance of the trainer is bad, it may make fanning a bit more difficult. But that does not mean you are doing it incorrectly!
A handle that merges with your blade is usually referred to as a Closed Fan. That's not technically a bad thing but it's a slight variation of the basic fan. Keep trying and you'll definitely get it!
@@SquidIndustriesco Thank you! I managed to stick out on the technique for a little bit, and surely enough, I can do it with little to no complications!
Same, i kinda get the gist how to keep it T, you must strech your index and your palm so it covers entire handle. The KEY is the rotation on your index and your edge on the palm, must be different. Not the same revolution. Imagine a cylinder, one edge is your index, and the other is your palm. When the index side reach the top, your palm side must be on bottom, vice versa. This keep the blade and handle being T. Edit: also, try to keep it horizontal, so gravity help you spin the balisong, cz i find it hard to do it vertically. (Doable but hard)
@ yea i got the gist now but in general i have a problem with flow it ends up with me doing the open and close over and over cause idk what trick to do
This might be a vent/rant but using the Squidtrainer v3.5 was probably a bad decision for me, I have a slower learning curve than average and for the past hour of trying to fan I’ve had a mix of blade sticking up and both the handle and the blade closed so it’s no where even close to a T shape, even basic tricks are hard for me so I’m slowly hating myself more and more each time I fail, I might have to give up on trips and take a break for a while.
It’s funny tho how he tried so hard to be enthusiastic abt clicking the bell, but he couldn’t because he’s just so layed back🤣🤣
this tuturial got me doing this trick consistently within 30 minutes thank you so much
Jelly can make any Bali look way better than it actually is
very happy i got the factory tour yesterday and to get to see how these are made. keep it up guys
i finally got the fan down today, and i also did a thumb rollover -> fan -> basic aerial. i messed up the aerial a little bit though, still felt good.
Bro ive been struggling with the fan, then heard the life changing advice: Just jiggle. Thank you
Nah fr though love you just got my squiddy al today and love it
...love squid toturials is the best....thanks for ending age of worst toturials and make a awesome job!!!
those combos just look so smooth when he does it

I have a same problem :/ gonna save up money to buy a nice trainer 👍
Any advice on when your handle is to grippy?
loosen your grip
Amazing tutorial!
doing this with a cheap balisong is pretty hard for me because it's heavy and it doesn't spin that well
Same here 🫥
What do you find heavy
is it a metal one?
I have a Franken forge kulkri it’s a bit heavy
any tips on keeping the blade facing out? The bite handle spins properly but the blade either sticks up or falls down
When I try to fan, the position goes to the blade sticking out at the top and the bite handle fanning. How do I fix this?
Same here.
Just keep going and it’ll automatically set itself well if performed right

Ok, it took me 5 mins to learn th3 z choker but I instantly started fanning 🤣 it's easiest for me is that common?
Im french: thanks you, it’s really nice tutorial, in 1h maximum, i know the fan ❤
Bro why does my blade stay up like pointing at the sky wtf
Yeah me too
@@mattjaydengarces2572 It flattens when you go faster
😂
Its pointing to true north
time stamps have labeled the "reverse fan" section as "vertical chaplin breakdown". not sure if that was intentional
Been fixed
how do i prevent the blade from sticking out ?
same, i can easily do the fan if I spin it counter clockwise but doing it clockwise just makes the blade stick out and the handle spinning.
Keep fanning and the blade will automatically set itself right if done well
As a beginner what bali trainer do you recommend? I'm on a budget. $60-100.
Any Squiddy or mako, my mako v4.5 is great but you might want a squiddy b
We highly recommend the Mako.
The Nabalis Vulp is fantastic and only $65
Thanks you for a lot of combos
How to you get it to stay a T so constantly? The blade always wants to stick up rather than out for me.
handle biased balisong. squidtrainer (which is what hes using) is neutral
I love the fan
Ong the fan is my favorite move
Help, the blade kept on just going vertical while the rest was spinning, what do i do?
Yeah same
My problem is when i try to fan, the blade likes to stick up, or in other words a spike fan. Whats the fix to this?
Really like this TH-camr

Samr
will you do a cat/reverse cat tutorial?
im trying it with the squiddy but i dont think it has enough weigh or something because only the handle is fanning not the blade aswell
This is literally the Squid Channel
Will you do like a helix? Or like behind 8 ball tutorials?
Absolutely, those coming up soon!
I’m ngl the squidy trainer was insanely good it’s super durable but the only problem is that the damn screws keep falling out so u have any tips to fix?
your comment is a few months old so maybe youve figured it out already but if you havent, use thread locker glue on your screws.
just search some tutorials on youtube, locktite, teflon tape, etc.
this move is so difficult for me like the bite handle and the blade tend to keep closing going closer

You are just spinning too slow… if you spin faster the blade will fall and be in line with the bite handle instead of the safe one
