I love when she casually asked “do you like the person that you need to become though?”. Super spot on. We tend to look at other people and say to ourselves, that’s great, I want that. But we fail to realise that we will need to be a different person and change our lifestyle to be like that person.
Some ideas/quotes that really stood out to me: - If you can’t find that space for innovation or risk taking in your business, maybe you can do it in a different aspect of your life or hobbies or new business. To use that energy elsewhere. - It could be that you are a serial specialist and you spend 3-5 years working on this thing and then you move on to the next thing. We need to let go of these rules that you need to do something for a certain time in a certain way even after that thing is no longer serving you or growing you. - The idea that: in order for us to be recognized we must be constantly achieving. To want more and always looking to improve or grow or shift, sometimes you get to a point where there’s no more to tweak and you might feel a sense of restlessness, maybe thats when you know there needs to be a bigger change, not these little tweaks you’re making. - That goal you’re striving for: Do you like the person you need to become to get there? Because it will take a different version of you to get there and stay there consistently. If not, honor and own your limits for what you actually want, not what other people make you think that you want. There’s no one else to ask for advice about this, it’s you and you alone. - Grow in different ways, it doesn’t always have to be in terms of revenue or some form of growth society values more than you yourself do.
The interview is amazing. Samantha Clarke is a good bit over educated, she is wise. It's not just what she says but her whole vibe, you feel grounded and remember what it's all about again. Thank you Ali & Samantha
My whole life, since I was a child, I dreamed of being professionally successful with my art. Ever since I finished college, I’ve been freelancing in multiple creative areas until I finally landed on art commissions, that I’ve been doing full-time for the past 2.smt years. This time has made me realize a lot of things, including that the purpose that I always had with my art has been slowly swallowed by the commercial side of what makes my passion a reliable income source. This has been a struggle. The psychological impact it is having on me creates a huge blockage for acceptance and action towards changing the route of this journey. I feel very ungrateful too. I proved wrong every family member who told me that art would never take me anywhere, I made them proud, and now I feel like I need to turn down my own “childhood dream” in order to be happy and reconnect with what my art truly means to me. Part of the problem is what we are told that there's a way to go with goals/dreams. We are supposed to reach them and hold onto them forever, but I don’t think that’s what makes people happy. Movement does. The journey does. I’ve been lucky or worked hard enough to reach multiple goals creatively and professionally, but once they were achieved, I desperately needed to move to something different. It’s very messy to feel this way when you grow up hearing a different idea of what achievements would feel like. But I think we need to deconstruct the concept that we are meant to reach the top of the mountain and build our house there. The view is enjoyable, but we'll eventually want to find another one. I think we need to keep looking for journeys that fulfill us. If anything change route multiple times throughout our lives. There are no rules that say that we must stagnate after reaching a goal to be forever sucessful. Success itself is a concept that needs to be meditated on by every single one of us, I believe. Thanks for this podcast. I was really needing something like this!
I REALLY enjoyed this interview. I was engaged right till the very end. lots of great thinking points. Great job Ali and lovely to learn about Samantha and her book
Really awesome discussion. What I loved most was the advice - “it’s ok to be many things”, to be a “serial specialist”. I think so many people need to adopt such a mindset - it would lead to so much happiness; not thinking “I’ve chosen this one thing, now I have to stick with it”. Everyone’s different, but for me this philosophy is key to enjoying life/ whatever career I’m in. Even just trying new things is a must for me. Loved it - buying the book next pay day 🤪
I am just amazed by this conversation. To be honest, it seems like he doesn’t create this conversation but a consultation. My impression is way too much to describe about her. I can say that if I am on the edge of my deadend or top of my life, the one and only person I need to talk to or consult with is HER. she is such a calm and wise. It’s like omg, can I be 50% of her or how I approach with my life. Amazing.
So far the best episode of this season !! Big highlights: Human Design Profiles and Outsourcing the energy that might not match your work environment right now.
This is an amazing interview😲👍🏾 She asks such great questions. I'm completely glued to this interview 🙏🏾❤ I'm putting her book on my list of *_must buys_* 😅
Great conversation. Ali I think you are going through your Saturn return, it happens after 28-29 years. It is really important and Saturn shakes things up as hard as the distance you are from your true life path. I hope you can make the most out of those years!
I think you will enjoy Richard Leider, and his book Work Reimagined. He's nicknamed 'the high priest of purpose'. And has done purpose coaching for like 40 years with people at a high level. But what I enjoyed from his work is the 3 elements he found that determine if someone's doing meaningful work: 1. Using their gifts. 2. For a cause they care about. 3. In a way/environment they enjoy/prefer. It seems like yet another ikigai intersection list etc. But it's much more profound than that. These are markers and guidelines to consider. Still, even such ideas are limited and partial. But it can be fun and useful to consider. You might enjoy it.
i think he recovered well from it, obviously he didn't agree necessarily with it either. he mentioned that after hearing what your 'destiny' is you either agree or disagree with it. he said that if you vibe with it, it's almost a go ahead for you to follow that path. and if you disagree with it then oh well, atleast now you've had that thought and decided it wasn't the correct path. but i agree that it was a weird switch up from the usual topics in the channel
Tried the my human design thing and was a projector too. I'll be more interested in knowing what other ones say and see if they seem closely aligned too. Just like horoscopes can be vague enough to make you go "yeah that's like me", wonder if this is the same. Call me cynical but the amount of things you can buy on this site to find out more feels iffy.
I’m projector too and I can definitely say that I’m going through similar things Ali does, e.g. his opinion changing depending on the person he’s talking to. He seems to be very open-minded and it might be worth looking into Big 5 personality traits as well.
I get having a good hook for the podcast is important but this one was from such an early portion of the video that made me confused. I thought for a moment that I pressed something and restarted the video.
56:35 If I heard right she said that when you're bored everything looks catastrophic. I think I'd have to disagree on that one. Boredom often leads to creativity at least for me.
Really loved this conversation and definitely I will listen to this again, however I listen on Spotify with headphones, and you can hear a constant buzz on the background … it’s quite distracting ..
Greetings from Germany! I have just listened to a podcast in which people speak with other people from the medicine sector in their podcast and asked them very interesting questions. What about you speaking to a Chief Doctor, Neurologist, etc? Could be interesting to listen to a talk between a doctor and an ex junior doctor :)
Ali - Delegate. Go to a tropical place. Keep a video diary during your relaxation. Give it to your team to produce content with. During your time away; the next inspired idea will come.
Interesting interview, although I am not buying Ali’s claims of he doesn’t care if he has £100 million in the bank. He says he’s not motivated by money, yet he’s happy to create a Patreon to charge readers for freely available information they can literally get on the internet. I just don’t buy it unfortunately. If someone is not incentivised by money they wouldn’t try to exploit their subscribers. I get doing a TH-cam course and writing a book or creating stationary because these are services and products that he’s selling, but setting up a Patreon to answer additional Q&A is stretching it.
Remember that it takes a team to produce content at this level. That team doesn’t work for free. He has to think past just Ali. I love creating content and my audience wants more from me. I need more cash to really offer up what they need. It’s not a one man show to create content.
It is very true, imagine you were born in USA as a black person in times of slavery, what are your chances of making a good life for yourself, or if you were a young man during second world war? When, where and what time we are born will have a huge impact on our life. Yes within those parameters we can do things and stretch our freedoms (if we granted any) but we all are restricted by certain constrains.
@@launchpad53 the "human design" thing is similar to the zodiac's when the stars align BS. It completely and utterly disregard any factual, historical, physical, racial, personality, financial, etc etc data. They will randomly slap a label on you regardless of any other factors. It can easily spit out that black slave is "meant to be" a commander, because obviously it has 0 data. Basically a hoax to fool the gullible.
Ali, life's purpose is not happiness. Life's meaning is not happiness. You say it over and over again. I'm sure young viewers are probably thinking "Ok, why am I not happy?! Let me try this, no let me try this". Which leads to comparison, which leads to depression. Then they try relationships. Then they try substances. I think you made it clear that you believe life is about being happy and fulfilled according to your beliefs. But please consider that that could be wrong. Sorry if I sound rude or if I sound like I hate you. I do not. I disagree with the content. You make content that may be interesting to people, but more importantly to create revenue which gives you the opportunity to live a happy and fulfilling life. So your fulfilment can come by leading viewers towards toxic beliefs. So please, I ask that you would consider your content. Definitely a REALLY important topic that we should all think about :) gonna listen and buy the book

The voodoo/ astrology stuff threw me off. Didn’t expect such things from a medical TH-camr. Kudos on Ali for being kind.

Thank you Samantha, Ali, Angus, Elizabeth and team Ali members/employees, Raza :)
The Gallup Q12 engagement assessment is a good start to see how you are doing at work. Try it .
Yes it will help a lot! Great assessment!

What's the purpose of life if not to enjoy it?
Even dedicating your life to others leads to some kind of satisfaction/fulfillment.
Yeah, there is a lot of wooho and fluff here.
