Beautiful sleek wing. The body is super neat and tidy. Love it.

Beautiful fly Rich! I still have issues with marrying G.P.

Using good quality GP is paramount. Without being good quality and being clean, GP is very difficult. For this video tho I used Amgold, not GP. Amgold is longer and marrys much better. Tho it's very hard and expensive to come by.

Just saw the FB announcement from April. I will really miss your tying videos. I started into CSC’s a few months ago and they have been a huge help getting started.

Beautiful fly. Where did you buy the amgold feathers for the wing?

Thank you! I just got lucky. A local shop had received a collection rom someone that passed away, so I bought most of the collection. There were 2 tails in there. Coming across amgold us usually a luck thing. Keeping an eye on ebay is your best bet. They pop up a couple times a year.

Since I don't tie classic salmon flies (yet) I don't feel qualified to critique the fly. I do, however, agree with David that the low/sleek shape is ok.

Thanks buddy. It's not so much the low sleek shape as the tail is a tad too long and that caused the topping to be longer than intended. The topping is a part of the wing and not a separate component so the topping should end at the tip of the wing not beyond it. It's ok tho. It's not awful, just not as intended. This could have been avoided by a slightly shorter tail tho.

@@flytyingwithrichlamonte Thanks for explaining that. I wasn't sure what you were getting at in the video.

I really cant see what your hiccup with the topping is. I have found that sometimes with you, you tend to fault any of your lower/sleeker wing flies . But you generally like your bigger bullnose style fly without too much dislike.
I think leaving not enough ro for your head is a better sin than leaving too much, as to much room is a punishable offence

🤣🤣 yeah I said make sure you leave room and then didn't. 🤦‍♂️ maybe once I realized that it all just looked wonky to me. Idk. I think the tail is too long. The wing doesn't fit all the way into the tail like I planned. Like I said, I'm my own worst critic. 🤣
