    The problem seems to be the vent on top fails and it builds pressure and the seals fail.

    So hard to find a differential for this car. currently working on a 3.6 ats with a bad diff. We're going to try and fit a diff out of a ct6. I think the axle cups just have to be swapped over from the old diff. Gear ratio is the same as the ats and the dimensions as well. I'm going to make a video if it ends up working out

    I have a 2014 ATS 2.0T Performance Automatic. I have noticed that my differential (the non-limited slip version) has that wet look. My research indicates that is a leak of some sort (gasket or seals). The cause can be a clogged vent screen. Anyone know how to clean said vent screen?

      @@samg2953 I replaced the entire assembly with a differential from Mad Hornets. It worked out perfectly and I have had no issues so far. I drive fast, but not hard and the differential held up well.
      All I have to say is, make sure you do the proper break-in procedure for a new diff and get that oil changed every 500 miles. Do that twice. After the second time, you're good after that.
      The differential oil will be black when you first change it out. As long as there isn't any excessive shavings, you're golden.

  • @w41duvernay
    @w41duvernay 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Supposedy, metal shavings are causing the noise from diff. The diff fluid is supposed to be changed every 40k miles. My diff on my 2.0 15 ATS started to make noise after replacing diff lube and replacing shaft seals. Also, the diffs are hit or miss on the ATS and CTS as well. I ended up ordering a new diff from ebay for $425, even my customers thought it was the brakes.

    • @akeemdaniels6600
      @akeemdaniels6600 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have 16 cts. Paid just over $900 for a refurbished rear differential since I don’t plan on keeping the car too much longer. A brand new one would run me just under $2k depending on quality of the differential. I would figure out the exact recommended part # from Cadillac or gm and then search for the part from other sites.

I have a CTS so it wouldn't come off with the jack holding it up cause the frame and exhaust was blocking me from pulling it out the shaft. I had to just let it hang, pull, twist and wiggle it to death for it to come loose then BUM! My pinky swelled up like the knot on your head but a little ice should fix it. I went ahead and got new hex screws for the CV axles cause I didn't wanna risk stripping those torx screws. Fingers crossed the new diff goes back in easily. 🤞🏽

    Does the gear ratio has to be the same I’m currently trying to get one identical but different gear ratios????

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wanna say yes! From a logical perspective, if the gear ratio is incorrect, you'll likely get transmission and abs codes. The wheel speed sensors will be out of synch once in motion.
      They look interchangeable and would likely work if this was the 90s 😂 but with the technology today, things cant be interchanged so easily.
      If you do put a different gear ratio in, you'll have to be prepared to overcome the above mention. Probably could disable abs or get things recalibrated somehow if there's a tuner more familiar with this
