  • Hi, in this video I'm showing you, guys, how to replace differential in cadillac CTS 2014-19. CTS's have common issue of differential going bad around 100k miles(it's annoying and expensive), so I've decided to share with you how to do it in your garage with simple tools to save you self quite a bit of money!

    I just bought a rear differential out of a 2015 for an off road buggy project. It has 3.45 gears and came out of a low mileage car. Its amazing how light they are to lift.

    IM dealing with 2015 ATS w/ AWD and 2.0l. As far as fluid, ypu may want to look at Amsoil 75-90W Heavy Duty Lube. A lot cheaper than GM lube, which was 40 bucks a quart. I would look at replacing seals on new doff b4 it gets installed as well. This vid also works for ATS as well.

      Anyone know if the 2014 Ats 3.45 diff will fit on the Cts? Cts is also 2014 and same ratio. Images look the same but hard to really know

      @@NN2PX8 Did it fit?

    • @NN2PX8
      @NN2PX8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@johnbriggs9046 yes the 2014 ats 3.45 ratio is the same pumpkin size as the 2014 Cts 3.45 ratio diff. Dealership changing part numbers by 1 number to make these parts seem different & demand at super high prices when you can Donor the same part from a different car & spend $500 instead of $1500 from a dealership who lies & says a donor wouldn’t fit from an ats. Pretty shady business from Cadillac to me. It takes ppl like us to go to junk yards, have the 2 different cars liftted & compare parts. Worst of all, cadillacs labor manual set up is making junk yards set up messed up prices also. Charging $500 for a 3.45 diff for ats but charging $900 for a 3.45 diff cts when its the same exact part. If enough ppl start realizing and reporting this. It will definitely help Cadillac consumers out b/c nobody should be paying for a part that goes out super early thats EASY to put on, 2 hours when dealerships are saying 7 hours. So ridiculous. Hopefully this helps & shows how shady Cadillac is. Shops charging $500-$700 to install when clearly in this Vid its only 2 hours.

    I wonder if my problem is the same? When I release the gas I feel this heavy disengage, almost like a "duff" and slight grinding (not heavy grinding but rubbing) noise. Then when I press the gas again, I heavy and feel the same sound, like a reengaging. Also, after a while of driving the car, it wobbles at high speed and its definitely not an alignment (had several). While rolling, it feels like an old donkey cart; like one wheel like bigger than the other.

    • @von5225
      @von5225 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s definitely not the differential causing the wobbling, the most it does it makes the whining and/or scrubbing noise. That sounds like your struts or axels or even something with your wheels or tires.

      There are plenty of methods to test for a bad wheel bearing:
      1) jack the corner up in question & see if there is any play in the wheel...I usually check it all over while I'm there but hands @ 12 and 6 o'clock is good for simple wheel bearing check
      2) feel the center of your wheel(s) after a long drive w/ your hand...if one of them is significantly hotter to the touch than the rest of them, that's usually a clear sign the wheel bearing is shot
      3) abs light/codes, strange noises, abnormal wear on one tire but not the one on the other side of the same axle are all good reasons to look @ replacing the wheel bearing

      @@bigdoghernandez6479 Took your advice and called on a donor and part #'s match except last digit. Cadillac could not tell me what the difference between them is though. Looks the same and same gear ratio. My car is a 2014 CTS 2.0 awd 3.27 and the rear diff. part# is 84110751. Potential donor is a 2014 ATS 2.0 awd 3.27 but has part# 84110753. Do you know if this is the same diff. and Cadillac is just defining an ATS vs CTS with that last digit?

    They just recalled the CTS-Vs because of the failed differential...my question is why wouldn't they recall all the the rest of the models...I have a 2014 CTS 2.0T and at 80,000 the differential needs replacing because of the same noise...smh

      I wrote a letter to GM. To know surprise not really a help. Told me that I couldn’t even get a loaner because it’s out of warranty. Offered me 1/3 of the price to repair. Which doesn’t really help. Next step NTSB. Don’t know what else to do at this point. Build quality is trash by GM.
