  • How to make Limiter Chains for your tractor. This is to set your implement like a bush hog, ect. so when you let down your hydraulics or you have a leaking system like mine. It won't go down but so far and these chains will stop it at a certain distance. Also, once you have them set you can just push your hydraulic lever down and go on without having to worry about setting the distance every time.

Did this on my 9n worked beautifully once I got it adjusted to the height I wanted and leveled off. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for this video! My hydraulics on my 9n are pretty tired and it has a hard time holding the 700lb brush hog level. This chain idea works great.

I use a counterweight on the 3-point for my loader that weighs about 500 lbs. My 3 point draws down over time as well and I end up dragging the counterweight on the ground. I'm going to fab some brackets for mine, but overall, your design is just what I needed. Thank you.

Thanks for making the time to make this video. Good tip. My dad is always telling me I need to chain the bush hog up in the front never knew how he did it.

You will be happy when you do. It’s so nice when you let it down you don’t have to worry about it digging in on the front. My hydraulics would slowly leak down and the chains keep it right where I need it. I need to one day fix the hydraulic leak but might have to hire someone for that. Take care...Tony

Any idea on how long your chains are?

Eric Smith I don’t remember but the next time I go to my shop I can measure. I bought extra so I can use them elsewhere if needed. I would measure from your attachment rods to where your mounting yours because could be different than mine anyways, and get extra. You can count the links to be precise so it’s even on both sides when you attach the chain. I leave my chains on the bush hog so alls I have to do is back up pull the upper pins, slide chains on and go.

I use a store bought version of that. It works great. You don't need the top link while using the chains. You need to remove the top link and move the top of the chains inside between the top yoke where the top link is sitting. By removing the top link, it will let the back wheel move up when needed it the ground is not level.

1:33 No need to get another top link pin. Just drill a hole for the pin clip where you want/need it. This way even if to long, it can keep things tight. Without buying a new one. ;-)
Tip, keep the pin clips tied up with some line, I prefer thin paracord. It's better than look for them in the middle of a field buried in the grass. ;-)
    Cheers
