i would imagine that speed *and* tilt are relevant when it comes to blowing stuff up. when luca repeats the test with damage enabled, i suspect that what we will see is that if the "ballast" is added more quickly, the results will be more catastrophic. a fun thing to test, i think, would be to "throw" the ballast from a position where it is resting on the ground, with a little slack in the "rope", from one side of the rotor to the other. when the slack is suddenly pulled taut is the first opportunity for hilarity. the second will be when it starts to go past the base rotor. the "rope" might snap, so you might have to run a mod that makes hinge connections much stronger, just to make sure the rotor is the point of failure. idk tho
Whoops forgot damage was disabled from my previous video xD might need to redo the test but yeah that's when it will clang if it doesn't break
Boy I sure wish it was that flexible when I used it for rotary drill ships...
xD I forgot to enable damage in the save whoops
I believe the rotor snapping off is a setting you can create and adjust if forces get too high, but is off by default.
So they are technically unsnappable xD
"safety detach" is the setting, right andrewkelly[can't see full username]?
I didn't know rotors could bend. Can hinges bend too in a direction they weren't meant to?
There isn’t really a limit for bending angle only the distance from being pulled apart (configurable)
Brilliant

Thanks zzac u wu and xD rotor catapult
Dramatic music, but nothing happens at the end. 😅
It just snaps back ye xD I forgot to enable damage in the save though u wu so might need to redo the test
Yet this thing will disintegrate if you spin it too fast
xD ye, I forgot to enable damage in the save though so that might be why u wu

Huh that can happen? I spun it 600m/s on official server with merge drive and it was fine. 😂
@VitriolicVermillion I think rotors and hinges struggle more with dynamic stress, like bumping your drills into an asteroid
new music please.... LOL
