Every time I feel like I have failed miserably as a Scrum Master I will always come back to this video.

Great video! I was told when I was first learning to become a Scrum Master is that “A great Scrum Master is always on the verge of being fired” and that have to do with everything a Scrum Master have to do in an organization to induce change. It’s very uncomfortable.

Building a strong team culture that is going up against organizational culture is among the most uncomfortable thing I'm doing as a Scrum Master.

How many times I heard Scrum Masters say things like 'I'd like to focus on my team, this is x,y manager's job", "Yes, I told this problem to my line manger, he should take care of it." I don't wanna get involved product strategy and other stuff I don't care about." and so on...

Doesn't sound like the Scrum Master is fulfilling the accountability...

Surprising episode 👍. Great as usual. Really didn't expect that. But you nailed it. And you've just showed me that my decision to become a SM was right. Yes, as a SM you are a mirror. But not this kind of mirror where even ugly people look good. Nope. When you are a good SM you'll reveal the truth. And that hurts sometimes. This doesn't feel good. Neither for the one who stares into the mirror nor for the mirror itself. That makes it uncomfortable and needs a special kind of mature character. A character that can be alone without feeling lonesome.
But don't get me wrong. Being this kind of character comes with a lot of happiness and humor. So at the end every uncomfortable moment is really worth it.

See this is a great clip gentlemen. I wonder how many Scrum Masters out there are just sat in the comfy chair? Just doing what is expected of you without asking those difficult questions. Got to admit, I’ve been there myself.

'A dead Scrum Master is truly a useless Scrum Master.' I am never comfortable. Too much to learn and many opportunities to evolve the Agile mindset.

I'd like to think of the role similar to...Batman. You have to do the right thing, sometimes with measures that the team does not understand because there is a lot of coaching in that role and asking for trust that what you explain will work in a long run, and stuff like that. So, it is a bit lonely because you are the person who digs out the dirt and makes in transparent. You have to be always neutral. Also the day-to-day stuff constantly changes, and there is always something new.

"Saying truth to power" - 👈this! And how this affects how you structure your personal life, is a giant thing. Not many talk about this.

A coach once asked me if I can really be neutral while being part of a team?

@@Rekettyelovag @LaCr0 This is a cool discussion to have, as I get his viewpoint. Same with being both the facilitator and participant of a retrospective. It's hard, but there is a lot to unpack here: What do we mean by being neutral? What does 'part of the team' mean? It's definitely something to think about. Maybe worth a vid from @AgileforHumans ? :)

Hey Scrum Masters, I have an idea for you. Learn to code and stop wasting developers time. Thanks.
