@@cutflow2 Product owner is a role in scrum, strictly speaking there is no such thing as an agile product owner (as its specifically a role in scrum). However, many organisations will advertise for an agile PO out of simplicity or because they don't use the scrum framework but still want at PO behaviour. I think PO is the most misunderstood role in many organisations so just make sure during the interview that what you think you're applying for, is what you're applying for. Enjoy your journey!

It's more practical, easier to follow, and just overall makes better sense. I will say though, that if you plan to attempt the CAPM or PMP, you'll need to get familiar with the terminology used in the PMBOK. My grad school class mainly focuses on those and they're a pain in the you know where. 🥲

@@cutflow2 this a hella late response so maybe u alrd found out, but basically: agile is the more all-encompassing term for the project style that is adaptive to changes. Scrum is one of the most commonly used methodologies within that project style: the others being Kanban, Lean, & XP I believe. Basically, within agile they can probably go into scrum, but probably not vice versa.
This video continues to stand the test of time!!! For me, it reached the epitome of what a great video can be from both a production perspective and also content curation. It has a fast pace, tight dialog, crisp hand-drawn graphics, and keen insights that bridge theory and practice. I've watched it dozens of times, and have learned something each time, both about Agile Product Owners, and also about production technique and technical presentations. Bravo!!! The unintended consequence of the success of this, and other "Spotify Model", videos is that WAY TOO MANY companies are adopting "The Spotify Model". They see the clarity, insight, and practicality of this video and forget that their real world situation requires of them a phrase made popular by IBM -- THINK! This is a wonderfully clarifying video about an amazingly complex world, and people are getting wooed into not thinking.

Excellent presentation. I've been searching for a decent short video to show colleagues and they've all been poor. Most spend half the time talking about other systems and their deficiencies (which when you want a short tutorial is annoying) and then present a series of bland slides displaying predictable buzzwords. This was to the point, expertly presented with useful and imaginative animation.
Then I'm doing this online 6 months Google Project Management Course and they tell me "Right, now you go there and check all we have said in 3 weeks in just 15 minutes. This guy knows a lot". And gosh, they were right. I'm impressed by the clarity and quality. Thank you for putting up, you saved my life!
I just passively clicked his video link from my Coursera🎉 course, and I knew that I would stop watching this video after a few minutes. But here, I found a goldmine. The way he explained Agile and its overall structure was mind-blowing. I have never come across videos that explain things so clearly. I have done different certifications in the past, and I have also been involved in creating software products using Agile methodology. The things he mentioned are true and very relevant to day-to-day work. I also found answers to some scenarios where I lacked knowledge. So, I want to thank him for his great effort. I also explored his TH-cam channel and found some other great content. For example, the way he explained AI and generative AI in a nutshell was also impressive. Thank you for your effort, Mr. Henrik. I strongly believe that key aspects that make this a great talk, video, presentation are: 1) obviously well chosen highly valuable pieces of knowledge, 2) INCREMENTAL, friendly INCFOGRAPHIC coordinated in time with laying out the pieces 3) order of those pieces which minimizes need for covering dependencies between them AND maximizes infographic use when the dependencies have to be covered.
I've just played this video to a new team, and new to Agile, in 2020. I first used it with a team back in 2013! It is still so incredibly relevant and accessible.
I've had this video recommended to me several times, and finally got around to watching it yesterday. This is one of my favorite reference videos for anyone who is new to Agile. Thank you so much for this video. One comment on the subtitles: there is a spot where Henrik says "Technical Debt" and the subtitles show it as "Technical Death". These are similar in meaning, but Technical Debt has more specific implications.
4:20 "that's a hard job" That's a huge understatement. This person must be a business expert(as in, the product knowledge), an excellent analyst and a marketing expert. And you need to perform an analysis almost on the fly, without weeks or months of research. It's almost impossible, and rare people who meet these criteria probably have something better to do.

@@cutflow2 Good question. The Product Owner term is more often connect to Scrum as this is an official term. Scrum is one of the many frameworks of Agile including Extreme Programming, OpenAgile, Crystal Clear and others. Agile is a set of value statements and principles. I like to explain it like this. Agile is the being (the thinking) and each of the frameworks are the doing (the action). I hope that this helps.

This is great, but isn't it a little bit disturbing that both stakeholders and PO are depicted happy and at large, and developers are faceless and inside a bottle?
A very good video that isn't only applicable for a Product Owner role but allows to see the various ways of where the Scrum Master can be helpful. Self managed teams with the right direction will build great products. The only thing that throws me off is the reference to burn-up charts and the way to utilize these to provide an educated guess what can be delivered and when. Realistically speaking, there will always be a situation where managers would want many features to be delivered in a short period of time and don't accept a simple "No" for an answer. That is where the PMs come into play to see how things CAN be done. There is the option (when possible obviously) to storm the beaches and crash the schedule by throwing in more resources or outsourcing some of the work.
What an amazing short video, you're a genius! This video can help so many people struggling with project management. I love the way you explained the goal in agile methodology is to produce the best outcome rather than as much outputs as possible.

This is one of my favorite reference videos for anyone who is new to Agile. Thank you so much for this video. One comment on the subtitles: there is a spot where Henrik says "Technical Debt" and the subtitles show it as "Technical Death". These are similar in meaning, but Technical Debt has more specific implications.

That's a huge understatement. This person must be a business expert(as in, the product knowledge), an excellent analyst and a marketing expert. And you need to perform an analysis almost on the fly, without weeks or months of research.
It's almost impossible, and rare people who meet these criteria probably have something better to do.
I want to give you a golden medal for making this video. I have been struggling to understand these methodologies but this video has made me understand everything. Thank You so much Henrik for making this so easy to understand. Love the easy explanation and simple language.

I have a question for you: Is agile PO and scrum PO the same thing, or two different things or is one term invalid? I ask this question because I have seen both agile PO and scrum PO in job titles and am curious to understand the difference between the two?
@@cutflow2 Good question. The Product Owner term is more often connect to Scrum as this is an official term. Scrum is one of the many frameworks of Agile including Extreme Programming, OpenAgile, Crystal Clear and others. Agile is a set of value statements and principles. I like to explain it like this. Agile is the being (the thinking) and each of the frameworks are the doing (the action). I hope that this helps.
@@PaulHeidema oh man this definitely is powerful and clears it up. I appreciate it fam. Your explanation is truly amazing. “Agile is the thinking and the framework is the doing” in the most simplest form this is amazingly well put. And I am guessing kanban, FDD, are other examples of frameworks.

- The venn-diagram of "build the right thing", "build the thing right" and "build is fast" is very practical too - teams should find a balance between the three.

This is great, but isn't it a little bit disturbing that both stakeholders and PO are depicted happy and at large, and developers are faceless and inside a bottle?
A very good video that isn't only applicable for a Product Owner role but allows to see the various ways of where the Scrum Master can be helpful. Self managed teams with the right direction will build great products. The only thing that throws me off is the reference to burn-up charts and the way to utilize these to provide an educated guess what can be delivered and when. Realistically speaking, there will always be a situation where managers would want many features to be delivered in a short period of time and don't accept a simple "No" for an answer. That is where the PMs come into play to see how things CAN be done. There is the option (when possible obviously) to storm the beaches and crash the schedule by throwing in more resources or outsourcing some of the work.
