Great demo, Anthony! Thanks! I'm digitizing and restoring some of my dad's photos, and I definitely am going to be able to practice this technique plenty.
The point about light source distance is a factor of "size". When discussing a light source's size in this context, "size" is not the physical size of the source but instead is the apparent size as seen from the subject's point of view. You can also think in terms of the width of the source as a ratio of its distance. Moving the source closer increases the angular size from one side to the other side of the source.
Ha! I have been pushing the limits of my non-mathematical mind trying to do this in PS -- switching back and forth between tutorial & Adobe while trying to follow along... !!! Silly me never thought about trying the Opacity slider with the Heal tool in LR to do this!!! Thanks for shedding light on such a simple, potentially major time saving technique !
Anthony, my problem is when you need to use the clone/heal brush on 2 spots where the spots overlap. I can never get the 2nd spot to center correctly. Do you have a work around? For this reason I always do cloning/healing in PS on separate layers.
Why would you not just use an adjustment brush with reduced highlights and/or whites and then apply luminance masking to that brush to appropriately feather the result? Of course this is assuming those spots aren't completely blown out. Personally, I would just handle it in Photoshop if they were completely blown out.
Hi Anthony Thank you very much for this video tutorial. Is it possible that you could also do this in Photoshop? Another words could you do a video tutorial in Photoshop to show how to remove the hotspots? Thank you for your great video tutorials. Pat Hogarty from El Dorado Hills California.

I always learn something by watching your videos - even if I think I already know about the topic.
Thank you Anthony for the helpful tutorial! God bless and good luck!
Excellent tip! Worked great. Thank you for not making it a 15 minute video like some do. 😂
Very useful Anthony, thank you!

Superb.... excellent advice, thanks Anthony M
How about when you are outdoors in sunlight - any tips to reduce this effect while taking the picture? Any filters that would help?
Thanks for both LR and photo taking information!!
Excellent and pretty educative video.

thank you
That's the same thing I do and capture one Thanks
Genius
Every disappointment I’ve had with the tool was because of not using the opacity slider. I also learn even when thinking I know it all.
No 🍺 in months...suuurrrrre. 😉
Cool tool! Thank you, Anthony!
