- Someone had to do this terrible boat job which required us to help a gentleman with his backwater macerator pump (toilet if you're not familiar :) ! Fixing heads is a terrible job and we allowed him to provide the parts and after installing two pumps the boat was still broke! Matt was pretty sick this week so I was trying to fill in with video.

We were dying to share this customer provided parts story with you since we just asked your opinion a week ago then look what happened to us! What you think? We fell for helping the older gentlemen. LOL we got lucky cause he was very gracious that we tried to help.
The same yard has taken care of my boat for almost twenty years. The owner is a friend. When my boat needs service the yard gets the parts that are needed. If they can do the service with the boat in the water they will do so. Otherwise it gets hauled. I wouldn’t think of asking them to install something I provided. They know better than I do what’s needed.
Exactly there’s that 👍 you know how many times they think they have the exact part and it’s NOT so we spend a few more hours trying to make their part work! We do our best!
I had heard on one of your vids that Matt was Navy. That was before I looked at your website and out you both met in the Navy!

Hey Guys! Love your channel. I don’t comment much because I enjoy watching you on my big screen, smart TV. I had to say something about the customer provided parts issue. This is a true story, not a “made up to make a point story.” I was having work done by a very reputable and highly recommend service outfit. At the completion of the job, the mechanic accidentally handed me the shop’s receipt for the part they installed. He quickly took it back and gave me my bill. The mark up on the part between what the shop paid the supplier and what they charged me was 110%….more than double what they paid. This was for a water pump BTW. I can’t imagine that is standard practice up here among the ice flows and I can’t imagine it is down there either. Whenever I can, I now source my own parts. Keep the vids coming! You guys are awesome.
Sounds like that’s a little steep keep in mind some place give dealerships a certain discount if places don’t offer a discount sometimes we will add 10% but for my raving fans I rarely increase when there is no mark up! Pigs get feed hogs slaughtered is my theory! But, a customer today commented on this video saying we weren’t charging enough for R22 Freon!
I shared that customer provided parts story cause we didn’t follow our rules and sometimes it doesn’t pay to help 🥴

Those three boats with the pelicans are the only ones with the anti bird devices on them. They always have pelicans on them. 😜. We are two slips away from that swift trawler. Should make someone a nice Loop boat.

Hahahaha I have been there changing that macerator pump luckily mine was new with no use at all so it was clean and my boss told me that we never touch ones that have been used the most we do is empty the system but that's dock crew and hopefully tomorrow I get the wrenches so I can send them to yall and the birds that's funny 😂 and tell Matt to take a knee drink some water and walk it off hahahaha veteran humor 😂 and how do you get termites on a boat!!!! And I love the OBS ford truck.
Someone must of heard we changed the pump cause literally today AJ changed another one 🥴 for us and the Capt was super grateful and texted Matt saying what a great job he did! Matt has no idea about the wrenches 🤣 Those birds are too smart!

I know folks who have reflective whirly gigs mounted on there dock to keep the geese of their dock. Some folks use sane filled Owls to keep the birds away.

If costumers comes with own parta we install them for them and charge for the work. They get no warranty tho and are informed.
When it comes to engine parts (volvo penta). We buy the parts. We dont install no name parts on the engine. If the want that they can do it themselves since we cant leave warranty.

When customers supply parts sure I will put it in but you get NO GUARANTEE FROM US. Plus you charge them few dollars more for the work. Put it in writing customer supplied parts not guaranteed by us.
Yes NO warranty ever it’s in our contract in writing… lol our contract is 4 pages.
