Yes, I needed to pay closer attention to what the reviewer was saying. The M135i is NOT a car available in the US market, and that was my point. As I wrote, in my post, "...if that car exists in Europe ,then perhaps it does." It is not a model that has been in the US. In the US we've only had the 1 and 2 series coupes, not hatchbacks as the M135i is. As for Mexico, I am not familiar with that market and am quite surprised that the hatchback is brought to that market. As for acting like I know it all, that is just you needing to insult to make yourself appear better or whatever your deal is. If you wanted to correct me, you easily could have without adding the insult. There, I hope your ego feels better now. :) Take care. Cheers!
What about the 4 coupe? Even though it looks it, from the measurements there doesn't seem to be a great deal size wise. I was A/Bing sitting in them both at a dealership the other day and it seemed the same really.
You guys at Car throttle love your bimmers don't you? Well that's fine! However, I sat and drove the M235i this past weekend. Forget about the badging discrepancies, the weird name and all that. Let's focus on the car and the driving experience. I Noted certain failures with Interior quality that I was just unable to overcome. They were so bad. The entire interior is plastic, and this is important not only because you want quality and good materials in a car that costs nearly 50,000 US dollars and I want an interior that has longevity, durability, and beauty. Even the interior of the Similarly priced CLA45 AMG seemed to be more upscale (that's not saying much.) On the road the car felt Agile, responsive, steering was weighted nicely (maybe a little too heavy for my taste) and ride was slightly uncomfortable, expected. No big deal. After driving the CLA45 and Audi S3, I noticed the shifts were great considering it was not a Dual Clutch like the CLA45. Handling limits were feeble compared to the CLA45 and the 235 felt numb, like the S3. Responsiveness from the front wheels to the steering feel was limited to the the slight annoying drumming of the front brakes when I pressed the pedal. That's all I could feel, the front brake calipers sucking. This was annoying. BMW used to make great cars. (E46 M3 comes to mind.) However nowadays, there are some Other German, American, and even Japanese competition that is just doing it better. The CLA45 AMG is a better car, I'm sorry, it just is in my humble opinion. There are other cars too, I mean I don't know, this just seems kind of ridiculous. The 4 series hype was quickly put to rest as well (read Car and Driver April 2014 edition). Too heavy for M cars, Car and driver said the same of the M6. Motor trends comparo between the M5 and E63 showed it's shortcomings. This car, I had to try for myself and it, just didn't do it. I'm sorry. At least if it was built with quality, but I guess because of it's price bmw left that out.
Im gonna buy one in 6 months for my third car. Everyone cross their fingers for me, gonna be a big leap from a Renault Clio. Im only 20 but surprised at insurance for it in the UK.
Im sorry. As good as it may be 35,000 pounds is just too much. Now in german speak maybe thats cheap but consider thats $50,000 CDN. Add an LSD and the price goes up even more. I can think of alot of cars in that price range.....
TheGard3nGn0me But the 235i comes with the turboed 3.0L i6... That is how they used to name their cars... Now it is the cars series (2) and the relative power output it seems (35); the 235 will be more powerful then the 228. So for example in the 3 series the 328 could be had with a 2.0 turbo 4-banger or a 3.0 NA 6 cylinder.
Simple, the 3L I6 turbo make a power figure closer to that of a 3.5L NA engine, same with the 228i, despite being only a 2L it makes the power of a 2.8L NA engine.

No doubt this is a nice car and I'm sure it's hell of a driving machine but I'm not sure why they introduced this? Making another 4 seater coupe makes 0 sense from a economic stand point... Overhead costs w/ this many models? Even if they do phase out the 1 series why is this needed?
you could, but if you factor in labor rates you're going to be paying an arm and a leg..unless you're good enough to do it all yourself (i wish i could)
The way the front of this car is designed. The hood is too curvy and all the front of the car looks like big fatty nose (viewed from the side). The rest are french references (watch out what a Citroën BX 4TC looks like from the side) and Cyrano de Bergerac is a piece of french litterature.
Best car in the world, except it doesn't have any form of dipstick for the engine oil or the transmission fluid. Might as well just seal down the engine with bolts that only the BMW mechanic is allowed to open = just as well, as everything inside the engine bay is off limits to anyone other than the BMW mechanic anyways.
Honesty Counts Nonsense. You can easily change the oil just like on most any car. It has an easy to change oil filter, an easy to remove oil plug, and an easy open cap to the hole where the fresh oil goes. The whole "oh my gosh no drain plug, what will we ever do!?" is so mamby pamby cry baby. You know the oil capacity and you know all of it won't come out when you drain it. The N55 takes 7 quarts. X drive variant 8 quarts. Put in 6 quarts first, fire up the engine to get it moved around and check with the iDrive gauge. If it shows "min", then a full quart. If not, then leave it alone or add 1/2 quart. Not so difficult even without a dip stick. I guess some people think it makes them look cool as they remove the dip stick, look at it, clean it off, put it back in, remove it again and look real close to check that level, adjust, repeat. Oh boy. As for trans fluid...who cares, no really, who cares? Most people never check it anyway and there isn't a reason to do so unless you're going to change the fluid. And if you're going to do that, then you should already know how much you'll need and how to check it. If you don't, then you don't need to look at the level.
BMW's are pretty snazzy, but they should be because of their... "exclusive" (oooooh lol) price. *AND THE FACT THAT EVERYONE WHO DRIVES THEM ARE COMPLETE DOUCHE-BAGS*. Seriously this stereotype couldn't be more accurate where I live. *LOVE LIVE THE DOUCHE-MOBILE! #M(ale ego)-power

Good review. What's the road it was shot on? looks amazing
The mountain passes in the Ronda region (Southern Spain)
cheers
"nothing beats it" apart from a real M car, saying that id probably buy one. P.S. Alex is awesome as usual!
Compare the price of m235i and m3/m4
Loved it!
Jesus, what would the M2 do to his pleasure centres?
So it's better than M4? wow
nice review, really funny and good info.
i would rather buy an bmw e24 M635, it will cost less and i personaly like it a lot better than any other bmw newer than e46
less music, more talking next time please
This guy is about as much fun as a tax audit.
bmw made a ton of money on the e46 `s huge sales and wasted it all on developing lots of sub par cars full of electronics.
+MrSpiderman1321 The E46 was full of electronics. What's your point?
Slight price difference, but better than a Cayman S?
How 'bout get the M135i and loose the weird proportions, but gain weird face and practicality. Also, sleeper.
Im gonna buy one in 6 months for my third car. Everyone cross their fingers for me, gonna be a big leap from a Renault Clio. Im only 20 but surprised at insurance for it in the UK.
Did ya get it?
What is the name of the intro music?!
Be yourself, no need to try to be chris harris , apart from that.Keep up the good work!
If you met me, you'd realise I'm being myself ;)
Intro engine rev is from a VQ engine right?
I think it’s Jaguar V6
A bit Top Gear-ish or is it just me?
Do you even shift bro?
the car he got was the one with manual gearbox btw.
vamp bl You can still shift manual gears dummy
what is the song that starts playina t 0:07??
Im sorry. As good as it may be 35,000 pounds is just too much. Now in german speak maybe thats cheap but consider thats $50,000 CDN. Add an LSD and the price goes up even more. I can think of alot of cars in that price range.....
He look like Aaron Paul
Is it just me?
Awesome!
why is called 235i when is 3L engine ??
2 Series
3.5 Litre
i = Petrol
d = Diesel
TheGard3nGn0me
It's a 3L engine.
It's just something BMW has done for a long time now. (index doesnt display the displacement of the engine)
TheGard3nGn0me
But the 235i comes with the turboed 3.0L i6...
Hellou from Romania :) This is just a normal car :)
ohhh just imagine if they give it 450HP i think it's going to be a better choice than M3???
hahahah thats so gay!!!!
M4 ??
3L that develops 322bhp and only 160mph on the dash ? What the fuck is this ?
DAMN IT, now I won't be able to brag to my friends by pointing at the cluster to show how fast my car is!
Husher Razvan it's governed to 155 or so.
how about the 220i?
It too is intoxicating, but not as intoxicating as the 235i
It too is intoxicating, but not as intoxicating as the 240i
samsara - Touche!
is it RWD??
Jacob McGowan-Griffin yes
Wow this car is so much seemliest as price.
@Suzanne Duncan it’s good but be careful about buying used cars... Because now
These days there are a lot of cases where people are victimized by car scammers..
@Suzanne Duncan They sell cars as much as they are worthy of the price,.. And also duplicate parts... I was the victim of those scammers.. That was my first time ... Now I know what is original and worth the price of second-hand cars…
@@jeannenewman19 Could you please tell me how I can get a clear concept about buying used cars?
@@susiebradley7001 one of my nephews preferred me a web portal which is confidentcarbuyer.... Then I took a course from the... This is compact and fully free of cost... There are many videos where you can get support to improve your skills like a professional...
yeah I just visited that site... This is just wonderful
@@susiebradley7001 You can look into a pre-purchase inspection. If there's a car you're serious about, a good used car dealer will happily take the car wherever you'd like to get one. I got one recently from a BMW dealership and it was ~$275.
Nope it's not!Its the M2!!
No doubt this is a nice car and I'm sure it's hell of a driving machine but I'm not sure why they introduced this? Making another 4 seater coupe makes 0 sense from a economic stand point... Overhead costs w/ this many models? Even if they do phase out the 1 series why is this needed?
A BMW 235 is $650 less then a 3 series. Why then would i buy a 235. UGH
Because you get a straight 6 with 322BHP?
SenszR okay that makes sense
It's 328i vs 235i, not good comparison. 328i should be compared with 228i in performance.
true...but totally different cars.
Okay I'm getting the understanding there is more to a car then what's on top of the sheet metal
What was that car in the intro?
I want your job!!! God, I´d do it for free!
I bet an s2000 will put a much bigger smile on your face lol
Nope!
but you cant buy it new
i bet it wouldn't
Hmmmm... NO
I bet you don't even have a driver's license.
why not just buy a e92 335i?
weight, brakes, suspension.
I bet you could upgrade cheaper than the price of the m. Plus, sleeper bonus points.
you could, but if you factor in labor rates you're going to be paying an arm and a leg..unless you're good enough to do it all yourself (i wish i could)
its totally do-able
It’s M235I not M 2 3 5 I
in love
this one or a 428i coupe ?
Too bad this well-made car has a Cyrano de Bergerac's nose. Seiously, seems a bit like a BX 4TC !
The way the front of this car is designed. The hood is too curvy and all the front of the car looks like big fatty nose (viewed from the side). The rest are french references (watch out what a Citroën BX 4TC looks like from the side) and Cyrano de Bergerac is a piece of french litterature.
Guy makes uhhh noises far too often for my liking.
It's not the best car in the world. It's not even a true M car. The true m2 will be out in a years time
Honesty Counts Nonsense.
You're a dip stick...
