    Thank you for showing how it's done. I'm ashamed to admit that during a move a few years ago, out of frustration, I just ended up tying the straps into knots to hold things down. LOL

      These things are impossible to use. I've Tried many times. Sometimes when i really screw it up I have to cut them off with a knife. Thats the best case scenario for me.one time use only. And now FINALLY I'm going to watch a video on the proper way. I'm gonna have to see this to believe it!! Wish me luck.

    Hey cheers Mike, was just tackling this for the first time at 40 to pick up a fridge for my sister, other videos online had different mechanisms so for the life of me i couldn't figure out how to undo them. All the best from a brisk spring evening in Christchurch NZ.

    New subscriber here, hello from California. What a great video thank you so much. Of all the videos I’ve watched on these straps yours was the easiest for me to understand. I’m new to owning these things myself and I could not for the life of me figure them out lol. I have liked, saved, subscribed, and hit the 🔔 for future videos. Thanks again, I now feel I can transport safely. 👏👏👏

    Hi Michael .. Just to let you know some technical details .. on the BLUE label on the strap, there is a weight load tested standard .. Check it out. There should be a number something like 400dn = 400 kg .... 100dn =100 kg .....1000 dn = 1 tonne or 1000 kg .. force weight resistance from break point so if your using a 400dn strap to tie down a car which may weigh a 1000 lg + to a trailer it will be of no use .. or even if you`re using the same strap to tie down a 1000 kg of bricks to a trailer it will be of no use. As an example if you was pulled over by the DVSA or VOSA ( past term ) and they check the straps you will be forced to either remove your load or stopped to carry on until you rectify your load strapping. all the force must be of downward onto a trailer or the bed of your unit your carrying. kind Regards ( A trucker, who has had the force felt against him !!! )

      @oldtimer43  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the really constructive info, I have just checked and sure enough there was the blue label with the weight, I had never noticed it before. Thanks again for the info and I will take note of what you said.

    Tip: When using them on the road, give a twist or two to the long free part over the load before feeding into the ratchet and tightening up.
    This stops them vibrating or "humming".

  • @cranebeg

    Mind your fingers champ, just release from the handle side, especially if you have more tension.

  • @TheClembo
    @TheClembo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just my two pennies worth Mike, both straps should always lay flat to the load WITHOUT any twists before tightening down, if there's a twist the full tightening pressure will not be achieved. Also seen this so many times even from so called professional drivers, position the ratchets on the near side of a vehicle or trailer, if you need to stop and retighten them after starting off you don't want to be standing on the side that the traffic is whizzing by you at 60mph [makes sense -yes!] be safe!

    Wrong OLD MAN, you don't secure the short end of the ratchet, that is actually the last part you do. Your feeding is incorrect too, you were actually feeding it twice, when it is actually not necessary at all.

    • @oldtimer43
      @oldtimer43  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the "Old" is certainly right as I'm in my mid 70s but everything seemed fine to me, it holds the load securely every time without any problems however I'm sure you are right and there are other ways to do it. Have a nice day
