This was very comforting. Just finished with a $1000 product being damaged vandalize left out without signatures that I paid for from UPS only to find the same thing happened to you happen to me. One lie and lairs after the other. Only to be totally frustrated with a full-blown rant on the phone after UPS telling me that I have to go back to Amazon for my damages. It’s my company I paid the large shipping cost. I followed every step, only to be Humiliated. Customer damages are now on me. This is the third scheduled delivery they damaged. First two I resolved by myself. Ridiculous highway robbery! Sounds like A Class Action Suit for “ scamming their customers.” Florida Attorney General will be contacted! 👇🏽
You are so right and I just ran into this issue. "Insured" $1,800 egregiously mishandled and shipped item destroyed. Claim denied. UPS is a pathetic company. Credit card charge-back and I'll never use them again.
UPS has also ripped me off. opened a "Intercept Package" request and they delivered it two days later, Opened claim and was blown off by the claims department. Package is gone, shipping cost is gone, cost to file paperwork is gone, my personal time in the pursuit of this ripoff is gone. Will be working to create "Class Action" lawsuit to put an end to this "well used practice" by UPS staff and their leadership.
I sued UPS in small claims court -- and won. UPS had to pay for the value of my shipped item (over a thousand dollars) and reimburse the shipping fees.
Any way we can get the details about your case? I feel I should be compensated for my time and effort in addition to everything else. Just wrote a complaint letter to consumer relations at both UPS Store and UPS. If I'm not paid by next week, I will head to small claims and BBB.
UPS lost an entire crate and pallette in my case. The crate contained a motorcycle side car. The only thing that arrived was a single shell cardboard box that had been attached to the top of the crate. That cardboard box, weighing about 50 pounds, contained only the fiberglass shell topping. I noted all the missing items, almost all of the order in this case. The driver concurred. The missing list was sent back up the line. Formal reports were filed by the shipper and myself. Yet, UPS just closed the case, saying the one 300 pound shipment had been delivered. Thus, over 250 pounds of my shipment just evaporated. Perhaps there is a UPS employee out there with a nice sidecar for his motorcycle? But the point is that they claim the entire shipment was done, because one cardboard, light weight box was indeed delivered. It does not matter to them that it was only a fraction of the original shipping weight.
This mirrors our experience as well, and not on a single item that they damaged - but on several. The initial decision is always to deny the claim as being "poorly packaged". Then the fight starts. On the last one, a set of camshafts worth $1500, we packaged it incredibly well knowing the previous problems we've had, and even used a foam in place packaging system to completely surround the parts in foam. Not only did UPS manage somehow to break one of the 4 camshafts, but they took the 3 unbroken camshafts and sent them off to another address with no tracking info, and sent us the single, broken part. And denied the claim. We have no product, and no money. Brilliant. The final kicker: I asked them to track the 3 unbroken camshafts and tell me where they went, and they "can't" - they used the same tracking number as the original shipment so have no way to track this subsequent shipment. This is a shipping company saying they cannot track THEIR OWN shipment! Amazing.
I received a damaged $800 Sewing machine 11-1-17 packaged by an independent mail service company insured for $1,000, shipped by UPS. On 11-2-17 all UPS Claim required pictures were sent. UPS emailed me 4 times requesting pictures already sent in the format request. It turns out UPS claims people didn't want to go through different folders labeled appropriately for required pictures so I had to make it easier with multiple emails with fewer pictures. On 11-29-17 the Independent Mail Service Company told me it could take 2 weeks or so to get a claim check. Today is 12-3-17, I'll post my own video after my claim concludes. 12-4-17 the UPS shipper emailed me informing me my claim was accepted but it will take about 10 days.
I'm going through the same fiasco with an unreplaceable firearm. Broken in two pieces. Package accepted by a UPS STORE with insurance. Denied claim immediately for improper packaging. The UPS STORE accepted and took the money. I filed in court TODAY. SHARE THIS VIDEO!!!!
My experience exactly. If you read the small print, the insurance is later described as "not insurance" and it sounds like they never pay out. Looking online, I can't find anyone who ever received compensation.
Yeah you are right, UPS keeps overcharging me over and over. Last time i shipped a small envelope of 3 sheets of documents and it weighs no more than 0.25 lb and the cost at the UPS customer service center was $85.00. Two weeks later i got a bill for $178.00 because the billing department unlawfully wanted to make more money for UPS. Instead of charging me for an envelope they charged me for a package weighing 1.2 KG. I called and they said they made the adjustment to $85.00 but then i found out the new charge is actually at $168.00. So i called back again and again they told me they corrected the charges but the reality is they didn't. Basically they keep lying to you so you would give up calling them. what a bunch of thieves.
Just had a custom made jeep rocker, that I spent more than 100 hrs making for my grandson, totally destroyed in shipping with UPS. They said it couldn't be insured more than the $100 dollar amount because there was no receipt or proof of its value....hand made items, made by a grandparent, have no value even if I am a professional. Just finished downloading the pictures of whats left from my son but know I probably won't get anywhere . Need to compose myself before I curse out some UPS customer rep.
This is true. I presently have two claims outstanding. Best advise is to triple package your item and don't pay for insurance. Be ready to loose your item and write it off as business damage.
Just bought a pc from the US and they delivered it to my house in Ontario Canada claiming I pay a (brokers fee) of 400 extra dollars after I just spent $2400 USD plus for the pc and $100 shipping ... they're the definition of the word scum.
So if you know ANYTHING about international shipping you would know there is such things as customs fees. A broker is a person or company that works with customs to get your package cleared for import. No carrier service has any control of customs duties, tax and or brokerage. Next time tell your shipper to cover the fees.
UPS did the same to me. That say they won't pay the claim due inadequate packaging. I guess I'm lucky they sent it back to me. The box looked like it rolled down a hill. It appears that they dropped it or just pushed out their van. I know the box weighed 130 lbs but that's no excuse to abuse it. I'm never using UPS again
Wish I could have watched your video before to ship my $500 item by USP. They charged me $150 for domestic GROUND shipping with insurance, broken the item in transit, and now refuses to refund me, using the same lame excuse about badly packaged item.
I Just bought a vintage sewing machine from US after searching for months, UPS smashed my beautiful machine into pieces...they broke the cast iron balance wheel into pieces, you can figure out how roughly they might have handled it...and on top of that no compensation so far..one of the ups rep said an investigator will show up in 5 business days to assess the damage,, after 4 days, when no investigator showed up, I called UPS and to my disgust, they said your claim decision has been sent to the shipper...???? How can you decide the claim without even looking at the damage.. I would say NEVER EVER USE UPS...the only thing you would have is regret and disgust....
I'm locked in a similar bureaucratic whirlpool with UPS. I shipped a large item from NYC to California. The item was packed at a UPS store by them. I paid for insurance. Upon arrival the item was broken and completely non-functional. Despite having paid for shipping and insurance UPS corporate will not discuss this claim with me, per their policy of only discussing claims with the shipper, in this case the UPS store. I have sent detailed photos, receipts, everything they have asked for I've provided and still they drag their feet. Depending on who answers the phone when I call their corporate offices, I get a different answer. Sometimes they demand more photos, other times they assure me no additional photos are needed, or they claim to have never received photos. It's a 1984 style effort to wear me down into a catatonic surrender. I fear it's now a complete loss. I post here because I honestly don't know what, if anything, else I can do within reason.
My experiences with UPS is somewhat similar. Is started in 2013 I set my laptop MacBook Pro to Texas. At the Postal Service me too issue I did 2500 dollars. When it was returned to me. The insurance cost $1450 just send it back To me. The Mac book Pro would not work. Right away I took her to the Apple Store and got checked . The damage was internal. I contacted UPS. They demanded that I send my MacBook Pro back to Texas to be examined for damage. they had my Mac book Pro appraised buy GameStop employee for $300. I refuse that offer. Six months test and no contact from them at all. I filed the a complaint with the attorney general's office. I wrote letters to UPS corporate office now is 2016, and I have yet to receive full payment.
This is EXACTLY what I'm going through now. I was insured and my damage claim was approved early on... and yet, they are stalling ridiculously and I'm hearing two different stories from UPS and UPS store about what's happening with the claim for my damaged computer. Been calling both companies (they're separate, btw) for weeks now. DEFINITELY feels like they're trying to drag things out until I give up and walk away.
I gave all proper evidence they asked for with my claim, they packed it too, and they closed my claim without giving an explanation. Insurance is a joke and they are scamming people.
Hey Carlos, thanks for this vid; even though I'm viewing it 6 yrs after. I am in a similar position. UPS lost my package, as at Dec. 19, 2019; and is now giving me the run-around. They have asked me to claim, which I tried to do on-line, but that is a frustrating activity. Can you advise me on this one: Can I claim for loss of use of the item? You can respond to me via my email should you need to. I cannot afford to let my money go to waste.
Yes ups will avoid paying claim by saying you packed it wrong, not enough packing material, etc. They are trained to give you the run around until you give up. If you have friends that are lawyers a phone call or letter will get them moving. If you don't you need to decide if its worth hiring a lawyer. Just like with the municipal courts once you have an attorney they treat you different
I gotta pay 200$ for insurance!! Wtf I'm not even sender!! they say there gonna give it to the government drug law enforcement!! well go ahead I don't give a fuck.. because it has not been shipped or made it to my property!! so scam I guess?
UPS insurance is a racket! They don't pay for damaged claims because it is always the packing that is the problem. All UPS drivers know this they even tell you when you receive a package damaged, "Good Luck on the Claim". But shouldn't this common knowledge they are monopoly of the industry. So just like socialism they dictate what will be their inside policy. Really the insurance coverage for business packages is a profit center. Think of all the money they make on insurance and never have to pay out one dime. This profit center is genius!!!!
My package was sent in a custom-made wooden crate with foam padding, inspected and complimented by the UPS store. It had survived long trips before. Despite, or because of, extensive labeling that it was fragile and contained glass, it was dropped, forcing a heavy amplifier against fragile tubes, crushing them. Wood chips were scattered on the surface where the crate was left at my home. The item was insured for 1300. I made a claim for under 400 to replace the 1940's tubes. My crate with broken tubes was confiscated, and not returned so far. I wisely removed the amp, as I feared this would be "lost," damaged, or held pending reshipment cost demands. I emailed UPS today, was told no information was available to me. I called the UPS store: claim denied. But the store representative was unhappy based on her information, not available to me, that the denial had conflicting information. I too am experiencing the "good guy, bad guy" treatment. I would bet the UPS store is on the right side. We shall see if any good comes of this. I will follow up, whether I have to pay UPS even more money to ship my damaged box with broken tubes back to me, or if they make good on my claim (Any bets?)
Same here it s been more than a month same thing they needed pics then the pictures where not enough and bla bla I will hire a lawyer to fight my case as a last resource.
UPS "insurance" is a joke. UPS has no intention of paying an insurance claim. The excuse is always the same - improperly packaged. Been in a court battle with them for months. UPS knows that the average person will just give up. It's all a waiting game to them. Anything above justice court will start costing big bucks and they know that. That's how UPS plays the game. They know that most of the claims aren't worth consumers paying attorney fees. I may not win in court but my victory will be letting as many people as possible know about the UPS insurance scam. Video soon to follow.
