    Great video Glen, I originally planned to move up from the GH5 to the S1H but has decided to move to the S1 instead. It would be an adequate upgrade to full-frame from my GH5 and your video absolutely helped me with this decision.

      That’s awesome man! I love my S1! The S1H is nice but it’s hard to beat the quality and price of the S1. Plus it has things like dual native ISO and some hidden 5K features that are not advertised. The 4K it produces is also the same quality as the S1H. Panasonic is known to increase value through firmware updates over time (look at the G9 as an example) which will likely bring it closer to the S1H. Enjoy!

    Nice video Glen!! I am really excited about my S1 coming in this week! It is used so I will give it a good look through! Definitely going to use some of your links for rig needs!

      Thanks! The S1 is an Amazing camera and I use it almost daily. It just got even better now that it offers 5.9K ProRes RAW, they’ve definitely kept this camera relevant. I’ve done a update video to my rig build if you are interested th-cam.com/video/sxsYCGiJcmA/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching. Let me know what you think of the camera when it arrives.

    Review the lens and don't forget about photography, too, please. With, like, an extreme focus on auto-focus and continuous auto-focus. I've picked up a couple other Sigma lenses, like the 35 f/1.2, and returned it cuz it couldn't focus to save it's own life.

    I got the S1 and so far love it. I was so far able to take video of the Comet and Milkyway with the Sigma f1.4 and hoping for Auroras as well. I do you Neat Video for extremely high ISO, but could achieve 15 fps frame rate in dark sky conditions above 100,000 ISO with Neat Video. . So while not as great as Sony a7s in extreme low light, I think this can still get the job done for what I love to shoot the most at night. Aurora.

      I still have to upload my videos and tests to TH-cam. Found that my FB no longer encodes anything above 720p any longer. No matter what presets or settings I try in Premiere. It used to encode to 4k. Quite sad to see your work in low res 2012 quality. Time to post onto TH-cam again.

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! I use Davinci Resolve Studio and found that the noise reduction is really good. Not sure how it compares to Neat Video. Those Sigma 1.4’s are awesome! I have a couple and they are my favorite lenses. I’m thinking about picking up that new 85mm. Just Incase you didn’t see I came out with a video on how to create a LUT for the S1 that adds false colors to it. Sounds like it might not be beneficial for what you do but could help in some situations. th-cam.com/video/ZhcaDXz0Mq8/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching.

    I would like to see a video about that lens. I’m thinking of getting the s1 and don’t know wether to get the sigma 24-70 2.8 or the Panasonic 24-105 f4

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for watching and commenting! I have both lenses (although the 24-105 is broken after a really nasty fall) and I can tell you the Sigma is far greater in terms of image and build quality vs the Panasonic 24-105. The 24-105 gives you a wide range but the image that comes from the Sigma is well worth the trade off, plus its much better in low light. If enough people request a review of the lens I will gladly produce one. Hope this info help! I LOVE my S1!!

    Hey Glen
    I want to Purchase a complete cinema rig, and I think I want this exact rig, due to the fact it’s Netflix approved camera, how much is that complete set including camera

    • @GlenReed
      @GlenReed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I’m using the Panasonic S1 which is not Netflix approved. However, the 6k Panasonic S1H is Netflix approved. My setup as shown in this video is close to $6k without the tripod. The S1H would cost about $1,500 more. Keep in mind ideally you would want several lenses which can be fairly expensive for the L mount. One cool thing about the S1H is that Panasonic just updated it to output ProRes RAW using the ATOMOS Ninja V which takes that camera to a whole new level. Hopefully they bring that feature to the S1 as well. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

      I would recommend either the new Sigma 24-70 f2.8 or a couple sigma prime’s 24,35,50 and 85mm f1.4. The 24-70mm gives you versatility and good low light capabilities while the prime’s give you sharper images and shallower depth of field. Either one will give you much better results than the 24-105. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions. 🙂
