🤍💙🤍 Thank you so much for taking this old Lady, senior citizen, with you! My dream still is to get out west one day.... Bless you three amigos!!!! Give Akela a kiss for me!
Here I was heading down the road in my van when I pulled over to make dinner. After watching your video I got back on the road and am heading to Paria Canyon! 180 degrees from where I thought I was going. Yah, you are that good😂 thank you🙏
What a fabulous trip! I miss it so much. I got sick 6 years ago and have a spinal cord injury so I'm now disabled and my hiking days are over. Thank you so much for sharing so I can live vicariously through you💖🚙🇨🇦
I 100% agree with you. I’ve seen pics of the Grand Canyon all my life also in movies and tv but the time we actually went there and I stood on the side of it I had no words that could express how beautiful it was and the whole scope of it all was just insane. I can talk all day about it but never get to express the feeling and meaning of being there in person. Hope your foot is ok and the puppy is going to sleep for days LOL.
Yes this is said beautifully. Thanks so much (still walking slow but it’s getting better!), and Akela has very quickly bounced back with even more energy haha!
I wanted to let you know you and Akela, are one of my favorites to watch on TH-cam. You keep it real, and that is what life is about... BTW, maybe buy a comfy pair of hiking boots for next trip, or start going barefoot more often, to strengthen your feet :)
Thanks so much! I actually go barefoot all the time, just not for miles a day haha but yes I just need to invest in a good pair of hiking shoes for myself, I haven’t hiked in shoes for years so I gotta do some research!
Allways good to see you all! I got a little bit worried when Akela ate the avocado - the shell and the avocadocore/nut is really bad for dogs and could at worse kill them. Im sure you had it under controll and that she is such a smart girl that she only eats the good stuff :)
you got me with your title. I saw this hundreds of time,,, so I decide to watch it. How did you messed up? life is an adventure... there is no room for messed up. it is all good.
I hope I too can do this soon... and I hope my children will be able to enjoy life together like you and your brother ... you are blessed to have a sibling who shares your adventures once in a while
I’m in awe of your amazing hike. Thanks for taking us on your hike also. Love all your videos. And Akele is beyond gorgeous, you have a one in a million dog.
I love that you and your brother hike together. You have a wonderful family and seem very close to them. It is nice to see healthy families as so many people have awful relationships with their family members . I'll never forget, in a classroom of 60+ people, the professor asked us something. She asked us to raise our hand if we were happy with our family of origin. I was sadly the only one that raised my hand. I felt sad for them.
I’m pretty sure you are the most amazing channel on you tube. I love how much you love that beautiful fur child of yours. I have four…..they saved my life these last two years. I lost my granddaughter last year and I’m struggling. I’m disabled and need to walk to get better and I just can’t seem to find the motivation. Watching you makes me feel better because it’s all so beautiful. Stay safe…..stay brave.
Girl - Don't be ashamed to go into a coffee shop or grocery in your jammies. I have done that & I don't feel bad about it!!! Sometimes comfort is life!!!! Sending love and hugs to you and the doggie girl.
Since my 4 kids are 26 to 33 (1 adoption) Your parents must be SO Proud with you guys living your dream. That's all we want for our kids. We have a minimalist, a drone racer, a mom with 2 girls and a very driven daughter. What a great experience with your brother.
Hi Linnea & Akela, I really love your video’s…. down to earth and super nice! They give me mini-holidays during the European Lockdown…. And you probably heard it a 1000 times already, you didn’t mess up! You learned, messing up is not even possible ;-) Thanks again for giving us such nice video’s, keep going, Peace, Love, Stay Safe and Stay Healthy! Greetings from Breda in the Netherlands
Beautiful video, and Akela is adorable! I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but it's very important to be careful hiking (and especially sleeping) in these canyons when there's rainy weather. Flash floods can be very deadly. Heavy rains (usually several miles away) collect and channel very quickly, and the water level will go from a few inches deep to many yards deep in the narrows in a matter of minutes. The water moves fast and picks up debris like dead branches along the way. Flash floods are also nearly silent, so you don't get much warning and there aren't a lot of places to get up and out of the way even if you do hear it. Take care, and great job on the videos!
Yes! We are very familiar with this from living in the desert for years. Unfortunately, we planned on doing Buckskin Gultch the previous week but the weather was just a bit too iffy for us, so we never ended up experiencing that hike. We had been watching the weather intently and read up more about this canyon specifically before taking it on. Thanks for the concern!
@@Linneaandakela Excellent. Not everyone realizes the risks in that situation. Also, glad you talked about adequate hydration. Multiple times I've seen people setting out onto the Buckskin/Wire Pass/Wave trailhead (nevermind Pariah) mid-day and completely unprepared - such as one tiny bottle of water in 110 degree heat. SMH =)
Great tip about proper footwear for canyon hiking. Those particular sandals dry quick, but don't provide much foot support, especially when carrying a pack. Thanks for filming and sharing your adventure, very inspiring.
Thanks for taking us along Linnea. That was a pretty spectacular hike. And as I am sitting here watching, I have my knee up with an ice pack on it. Yeah, bursitis, no fun at all.
Love your videos!!! I'm so hyped to see you living your best life now. I'm 61, served 38 years in the ARMY, and did it for young people like you. Just as my dad did for me in WW2. Thank you for taking us along!!! Love your skill set!!!!
Great video! I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this be careful letting Akela eat avocados 🥑 they can be toxic..I hope your foot is doing better that was pretty swollen!! What a trooper you are, I would have been crawling and crying...lol✌💕🐾
Just found your channel!! I love love love German Shepherds, I’ve been involved with GSRescue for years love seeing your beautiful girl! I have a long coat girl now.. looking forward to binge watching your channel! Beautiful hike, so nice you got to share that with your brother❤️
you should have grabbed that bighorn for your cabin! you contact dnr and theyll issue it to you. sometimes they need to come out to its location, but its worth a try to just bring into their office.
Excited to have found your channel and love your energy, pup, and the sibling dynamics. :) And so many props to you for building your van yourself! My dad and I are currently renovating an aframe (I'm documenting via youtube too), and it is insane the amount of planning on top of the actual work that has to be done, so mad respect to you for going it alone, and thanks for sharing your adventures!
That’s awesome that you and your brother can enjoy awesome adventures together! And Akela of course! I also have a German Shepherd. She comes on hikes with me, but I’ve tried camping with her once and she DOES NOT like it. She’s far too anxious in unfamiliar environments. 😆 Hope your foot heals up fast! Yikes. ✌️
Loved this one, from uk. I spent a little time around Page.. now I have to go back.. your video skills are great you involve us to the point we are almost there with you x.
Hello Linnea/Akela!! What an awesome adventure, it’s always exciting to find neatens natural stuff along the hike, they were all cool, but the fish was the coolest! Thank u
I loved this video. You, Noah and akala make this hike look easy. But I am sure it was hard, especially with a swollen foot, what a trooper you are. I would of called 911.... love watching all the old and new videos. Keep them coming linnea. Formally from colo springs, co now living in Wichita Kansas.
I am betting Noah is an outdoor educator or guide (I am an outdoor educator/guide, and I see myself in him, granted I’m 25 years older.) He was making sure you were hydrating. He had a NOLS Wilderness medicine sticker, I saw him putting on sunscreen…. Good water trick…He is solid! And seems like a good guy…
We both worked in wilderness therapy for years! Which means we also needed the NOLS Wilderness First Responder. He especially loves survival skills and everything related to that! He’s wonderful.
Thanks, Adventure Otaku! Always fun to be recognized by another outdoor guide. Linnea's skills are solid too, but I like playing the older brother role when she gives me a chance. Very perceptive ;)
You and Akela make me feel so free and happy to watch you on all your adventures. I binge watch your videos and can only hope to experience this type of living even if it’s for a short while. To be alone in these places must be what feels like heaven. Do you work remotely on your travels to support yourself during the way? I so want to know how to go about even starting in the direction to do this myself. It’s a dream of mine to give up everything and just travel the states! Bless you both!!!! And thank you for all that you are sharing with us.
Loved your hike with Akela and Noah. And your choice of music is wonderful. Have just recently discovered your videos, and I am binge watching them now! What a great life you have made for yourself, Akela, and your friends and family.
Fun to tag along on this! My brother and I, and roommate and his fiancee and my fiancee all hiked it back in 1990... a few weeks later some hikers died in a flash flood. I hope you didn't camp down by the water! : /
Had to pause the video to download that audio book…excited to listen! In turn, I have listened to The Hidden Life of Tree by Peter Wohlleben - if you love nature it’s an amazing book - I have listened to it a few dozen times over the past few years. If you listen, hope you love it! Thanks for sharing your life with us and can’t wait to start my van journey with my dog - will be thinking of and watching you along the way.
Such a wonderful chronicle. I am living vicariously through you. Thank you and maybe we will bump into each other on the road.... Especially the desert.
It's so nice to see you both having such respect for your surroundings by picking up your litter and dog poop. As you would know, not all people have the same regard for Other treckers and of course God's earth. 😃😃
Hi to the 3 of you! I downloaded " The Secret Knowledge of Water " by Craig Childs as per your recommendation and it blew my mind! Thank you for that. I had never read a description of places that made me feel like I was there. Already on Childs book # 2.

This was a nice hike...thanks for bringing us along...and I'm not tired : )
So wonderful to see siblings getting along so well, that you are able to go on this trip and enjoy each other's company.
Yes, they get along very well and with sharp, compassionate and independent mindsets. Wish I had that kind of relationship with my sister.
Me too. But alas...@@craigshafer7307
So cool. Thanks for the hike!!!
Our pleasure!
Can you do a vlog on how you got the permit and what you had to do? Oh and maybe a video on everything you packed for yourself and Akela?
"Can you do a vlog on how you got the permit and what you had to do?"
Google has TWO "o"s
yes! like a packing list for the backpack and the dog... or visual list by laying everything on the ground?
What a fabulous trip! I miss it so much. I got sick 6 years ago and have a spinal cord injury so I'm now disabled and my hiking days are over. Thank you so much for sharing so I can live vicariously through you💖🚙🇨🇦

Thanks for saying, its always good to know this stuff, I never knew grapes were bad for dogs until I read a YT comment…
And the NCAA tournament gets paused for 20 minutes. The Travel Channel should hire you bud. What a nice way to end my Sunday! Great video L.
Such a beautiful hike, I can only imagine how amazing it is in real life. What a treat to adventure like that with your bro. Thanks for the video
It really was wonderful, thanks so much!
What a beautiful hike. So awesome you could do it with your brother. ❤️
That was awesome!! I feel like I was there with you. I hope your feet healed well.
Yes! Thank you!
you got me with your title. I saw this hundreds of time,,, so I decide to watch it. How did you messed up? life is an adventure... there is no room for messed up. it is all good.
It’s so great that you and your brother get along so well
How fun that you and your brother both live in cars so you can do cool stuff like that together.
I hope I too can do this soon... and I hope my children will be able to enjoy life together like you and your brother ... you are blessed to have a sibling who shares your adventures once in a while
Hello Linnea i have been watching your videos and since i am still young i have some time to plan my lifestyle
I’m in awe of your amazing hike. Thanks for taking us on your hike also. Love all your videos.
And Akele is beyond gorgeous, you have a one in a million dog.
Great video! I am glad that you came back and your home is still there. That's one of my biggest fears is coming back and my home is gone.
I am glad Togo was still there too. I am actually not super worried about that, but it would be devastating!

Akela is the coolest dog. So expressive.
That looked like an amazing trip apart from the sore foot. Love the vlogs you three do together ❤
Such a beautiful place! I wish I was younger and in better shape .... or even just in better shape. I would so go there.
I hope one day you do go here! It is breathtaking :)
What a stunning video!! I thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for sharing! The Grande Canyon is one of my favorite places on the planet!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!

Maybe carry an ace wrap for support on small injuries
Love your adventures! Thank you for sharing.

Lee's ferry has one of my favorite beaches in the world. Crazy, but true. Love 4 corners. :)
So glad you did that hike! It's on my list for this Fall. Hoping to have a dog by then and of talk someone into going with me.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Loved your hike with Akela and Noah. And your choice of music is wonderful. Have just recently discovered your videos, and I am binge watching them now! What a great life you have made for yourself, Akela, and your friends and family.

I am so obsessed with your videos! Would you be able to make a video on how to get started with backpacking/backcountry hiking?
Thanks so much! That is an awesome suggestion :)
Wow when you go on these long hikes, you really go the whole hog, no wonder your feet and hips ached loved seeing everything thanks for sharing💖
Thank you guys so much for sharing

Excellent adventure!

Did this hike back in October! Getting to drink from the spring water is something special!
It's so nice to see you both having such respect for your surroundings by picking up your litter and dog poop. As you would know, not all people have the same regard for Other treckers and of course God's earth. 😃😃
Love this video, one of my favourites.
One of my fav hikes I’ve been on was in AZ 7 Falls. If you’re ever near Tucson, check it out!
You guys are awesome! We`ve been planning a trip to Utah in 10 days and looking some places. I guess found one, Greetings from Colorado!
What an amazing trip! ❤️
It was amazing! Thank you :)
you know you think akela is human when you said "akela and i have to fill up on gas" 😂 how amazing is that to wake up in nature's majestic views! 👍
Feeling inspired. Thank you
I enjoy your videos be safe until next time
You should do a video of things you use for backpacking and where you got them.
I always hike and then eat (or really I drink coffee, hike, then eat). My GF always wants to eat then hike :)
Hi to the 3 of you! I downloaded " The Secret Knowledge of Water " by Craig Childs as per your recommendation and it blew my mind! Thank you for that. I had never read a description of places that made me feel like I was there. Already on Childs book # 2.
Really cool video, Thanks for taking us along. I'm new to your vlog and am excited to see more. :)
Love your adventures. Does your brother have a page showing the details of his truck bed build?
Yes! The Responsible Nomad :)
That was interesting...very good video..🙏
Nice Vlog. Liked the canion.
Question: Why not bury the poops. Dig a nice hole and done. It’s organic.
Nope, burying in a lot of areas like this isn’t allowed! In a lot of backcountry it is, but not in more fragile areas.
If you want to explore Yosemite, I live just outside the western entrance. You can use my property as a home base.
Oh wonderful, thank you!
Great-thanks!!
Your Welcome!
