Thanks for the awesome video John. I am curious where did you get that white hoodie jacket. I am planning to hit the Grand Canyon this May and that jacket looks like a perfect one to bring to escape the sun. After GC, I may try to get a day of permit to the Wave if I am lucky to get one. :D
thanks for the kind words ... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089WCP9LG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the hoodie I use on pretty much everywhere I go, even at home ... soooooo ima crash your GC and Wave hikes, so be prepared ... LOL
That hike tired me out although I enjoyed it. The Wave hike was a treat and some sandy parts of the trail which was challenging. The road there was rough.
so glad you had the opportunity to hike the wave, still on the list for me and yes, if the road there is anything but dry, I can only imagine how rough it would've been :-)
@@JohnPhan1 Did you go to White Pocket? I wasn’t successful on winning a permit for the Wave in December. I again applied for a January permit and waiting for results on Oct 1. I might try an in-person lottery while I’m in the area and go back to White Pocket.
@@josephinebustos8074 I did not go to white pocket ... it's access was somewhat out of the way and I was short on time ... I believe the permit for the wave has gone completely online (geo fencing) if you're looking for the following day permit; I forget the details, but you need to be within a certain mile radius of the BLM in Kanab for that lottery ... good luck
@@JohnPhan1 I’m aware about the requirements for next day lottery being in the area which I intend to do. I’ll base myself in Saint George and renting a high clearance 4x4 Jeep so I can go to White Pocket on my own this time around and other places I want to explore.
wow I literally had a dream last night " wouldn't it be cool if someone made those 4k walking videos on a trailhead instead of through cities. That one trail that goes to Buckskin Gulch would be a good one for that" and then this gets recommended... Nice one!
Great video! However You were either unaware of, or edited out a very important feature of the hike. Once you make it to the main slot canyon and you can either go left or right, there’s a good number of petroglyphs on the right side wall going right (downstream) . I hope this helps anyone who is inspired enough by your video to go there.
I really like your movie😍 because it's nicely filmed👍 It takes a lot of work to set up the cameras and come back for them And film again🏋️♂️ I know because I do similar things but I used to be in antelope canyon. I also liked it there but in the future I plan to see it here what you filmed. Thank you very much for sharing your experience😊
thank you for the kind words ... it's nice to relive the moment again and again and again; then to share it with family and friends, and then just the post production of it all to transform a bunch of clips into a "story" ... looks like you're quite the traveler and trucker ... great adventures.
Great video as I am planning out a trip to the area. Does this trail start at Wire Pass off House Rock Valley Road? How far is it from the trailhead until you are in the slots? Thanks! Again, great video.
thanks for the kind words ... yes, take the House Rock Valley Road (exit) from State Road 89 ... i think it's about 1.4 miles at the 1:50 min mark in my video th-cam.com/video/fbwpoB67Exc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yp-xiDLtzvxW8qh3&t=110 that you'll reach the first slot ... happy trails and thanks again for the kind words
I really like your video because it felt like the viewer was with you. I only wish you had modeled drinking water throughout the hike. You would not believe how many people don't get that.
thanks for your kind words ... this was somewhat of a "backup" hike that I was only planning for a half-day hike; got a late start on a bunch of things, but yes, you are absolutely correct as there's NO source of water whatsoever and i should've done some footage of my water regimen and in post commentary ... thanks for the note: will do next time :-)
there is a permit (I forget, $3 or $5) .... very tough to get a cell signal at the trailhead, so go online and pay for the permit when you have cell coverage before you "hit the road"
yes, if you look up the map on alltrails, it's fairly straight forwarded; the biggest challenge is getting to the trailhead (the wetter the dirt road, the more you will need a 4 wheel drive and high clearance; if it is absolutely dry, you can get away with even 2 wheel drive, but it has to be BONE dry) and make sure you bring extra water b/c there is no access to any water
Yes it is! I went a little further than this all trails map ... you can actually take the trail all the way to the colorado river ... lol ... www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/wire-pass-to-buckskin-gulch--2?search=true

This is the best video on TH-cam
oh wow ... thanks for the kind words 🙂
Such a great video! Thank you for putting the time in to put it together 😀
thank you for your kind words ... wasn't expecting so many views, just more for myself and family and friends.

thank you for your kind words; this hike definitely softened the blow for having unsuccessfully coming up short again for the Wave

Done it it is a fun hike.
for sure … so wanted to sneak the wave in … I mean I was right there 😝😝😝
Stunning... your videotography is fantastic!

Did you have to pay to enter or is this free?

Wow!! Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. subd & 👍229
thank you for watching
Can a person do this without being lost
yes, if you look up the map on alltrails, it's fairly straight forwarded; the biggest challenge is getting to the trailhead (the wetter the dirt road, the more you will need a 4 wheel drive and high clearance; if it is absolutely dry, you can get away with even 2 wheel drive, but it has to be BONE dry) and make sure you bring extra water b/c there is no access to any water
yes! in a slot canyon, if you feel lost, just turn around and walk the opposite way and you‘ll be safe.
I will certainly keep you in mind, if I ever win the ,lottery! Fingers crossed!
@@Cnsalmoni don't you be teasing me ... lol
Stay out if there is ANY sign that there is going to be rain in the area. Flash floods fill the slot canyons with water fast.
Looks like an awesome thing to do! Is it a marked Trail?
