The Maserati GranSport is a derivative of the Maserati Coupé produced since late 2001 with 4.2-liter Ferrari V8 engine. He was presented in the fall of 2004 as GranSport (Coupe) at the Geneva Motor Show. Later followed the open Spyder. The name Gran Sport takes up a designation of a classic Maserati model; as Gran Sport 1956 and 1957 special coupe of the series A6G / 54 were sold. [2] [3]
The coupe-based GranSport gets subtle retouching on the body, minor technical changes to the engine and circuit. Maserati shortened the reaction time of his Cambiocorsa circuit ("racing circuit" [4] ). The new front and rear aprons together with the small tear-off edge on the boot lid ensure more downforce. In addition, the body of the GranSport was lowered by ten millimeters and the suspension tuned firmer. All together improves driving performance and reduces lift and drag (c w = 0.33). With the GranSport Coupe Maserati competed against the Porsche 996 GT3 and Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale .

The Maserati GranSport is a sportier version of the Coupé that was first unveiled at the March 2004 Geneva Motor Show.[45] It featured improved aerodynamics, retuned suspension, engine and transmission, and a sportier interior. An open-top GranSport Spyder with similar modifications was introduced a year later, at the September 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show.[46]
It is powered by the same 4,244 cc, dry sump, 90° V8 engine used on the standard Coupé and Spyder. However, the engine is rated at 400 PS (294 kW; 395 hp) at 7,000 rpm due primarily to a different exhaust system and improvements on the intake manifolds and valve seats.[47] Only the six-speed Cambiocorsa paddle shift transmission was offered, and was recalibrated for quicker shifts. The exhaust, equipped with bypass valves, was also specially tuned to "growl" on start-up and full throttle.[48] The GranSport used the Skyhook active suspension, with a 10 mm (0.4 in) lower ride height. Other than height, the exterior dimensions and curb weight were unchanged from the Cambiocorsa Coupé and Spyder.[49] The GranSport had a claimed top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph), and a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) acceleration time of 4.85 seconds.[50]
The higher top speed was possible due to a taller sixth gear ratio and more aerodynamic body cladding. New bumpers, side skirts, rear lip spoiler and underbody panels lowered the drag coefficient by 0.02 to 0.33[50] and simultaneously reduced lift.[51] Chrome mesh grilles to the front and rear bumpers, and "Trofeo"-design 19-inch wheels with trident-shaped spokes were other distinguishing exterior features.
Inside, the GranSport was fitted with wide, highly contoured sport seats, which required a slimmer centre console (constructed in carbon fibre) and elastic door pockets. Carbon fibre was also used to for the dashboard trim and on the new thick-rimmed steering wheel. On the coupé, the upholstery materials were leather and technical cloth (in black, Nickel Gray or Metal Blue) on the seat centres, backs and dashboard fascia;[50] the Spyder had an all-leather interior. Seven paint colours were available: solid Giallo Granturismo and Rosso Mondiale, metallic Nero Carbonio, Blu Mediterraneo, Grigio Alfieri and Grigio Touring, and special triple-layer white Bianco Fuji. Great video - you probably know this but that sound is the fuel pump working. Also, you might want to change out the fuse as older fuses will let the pump run continuously burning out the pump itself.

To add to longer clutch life its recommended to put in neutral when sitting at stop light, also, recommend to only use the automatic on freeway open driving, not bumper to bumper traffic, using manual mode in city driving will help also
Nice purchase - I have a 2002 Spyder Cambriocorsa as a daily driver. IMHO the noise you hear upon opening the drivers door is the fuel pump and not the F1 gearbox hydro pump.

Nice Honda, Hondo! Watch speed bumps with low clearance. Sometimes "Antique" car insurance is much more affordable on performance exotics. Mink oil does wonders on leather. Cheers

WOW MAN! we are TWINS !! on the types of cars we like and color ...SILVER! I can't believe it, I saw your Chrysler 200S video years ago when I was thinking on buying a 2015 200C AWD Silver ...I END UP BUYING 2!! Yes for the same reason , HUGE depreciation due to the ZF 9 speed transmissions , my local Chrysler dealer got 2 lease returns back in 2018, one silver 200C AWD 3.6 with black nappa leather and the other one also silver 200C 3.6 (no AWD) with cream nappa leather... anyway NOW Im looking at videos of the Grand Sport because is also my dream car and I FIND YOU AGAIN! Like you said these transmission are special you have to learn how to drive with it just like the ZF 9 speed, I have not had any issue with any of my 200's ... and If I do I don't care ... I purchased the Mopar Lifetime warranty when purchase the cars!! ahh!! by the way, a SILVER Prowler and a SILVER old style Audi A4!!! You are my Brother from another Mother!!!! : )
