Not bad for rain and fog but will not help if drone drops into the river or snow... Great review!
Not quite like rainx, but I get the analogy. Of all the products available I'm most likely to use this. That said, conformal coating will have more protection. This will not protect against FOD (foreign object debris) such as stray solder blobs or even wood dust. Dry Drone is very good if you have it and remember to apply it before you build. Conformal is best, but you kinda need to build, then tear down and apply. That can be a real pain, especially if you want to coat the motor pads after soldering.
I'm curious if this isn't just a existing product rebranded by flywoo and sold for alot more money.
I wonder if I can just a ceramic coating spray from Aliexpress for a few bucks and it will do the same job

So im guessing it's basically just silicone spray like for tents, canvas and clothes, that's what I've been using and you get a big can for like 6 bucks at wallyworld.... I just reapply if I plan to fly near wet location, just in case.... Also don't get it on camera lens!
It evaporates quickly it might not be water based as those tent /clothing ones
@@Przemo-c silicone wouldn't be water based, i might be wrong ...
I specifically use vip silicone water guard and its not water based anyhow, as far as i know, got a big can pre fjb for 4.99+tax and it seems to work perfectly for me...
Thanks Mads for the review! The fact that it comes off so easily makes me not want to buy this especially for $25. Im not a big fan of waterproofing and have yet to do it because it feels like locking in something… will finish later. Too tired now

I would love to see a video where somebody uses a breakout board and solders 2 wires to it going to a ohm meter drops it in different liquids like saltwater, then has a second with this spray to see the difference, then a third one with VIP silicone water resistant spray, then one with worry free and conformal, ect...

16:16 id love to see a zoomed in shot of how the water bead touches or odes not touch some of those areas that are missed.
So it'll short underwater but at least it'll be dry when you go to repair...
It would be good to test this on a naked vista or GoPro where a heat sink had been removed to see if it is more "breathable" then CC which can cause overheating

I'm wondering what would happen if you spray one layer, wait for it to dry, apply the next one, and repeat the process once more... Maybe that's how you can get a better coating? I would love to know if you tried that process. Thanks for vid btw, great stuff as always.
If possible please test it on o3 without opening it up.

This, to me, seems like it has a cool party trick but flywoo knows it's not anywhere near permanent or resiliant. To me it seems like those spray on screen protectors for phones... Sure, it does something but does it actually do what you expect it to, prevent replacing of parts? Silicone and conformal coating provide some level of impact protection AND it holds things in place, this does not.

I was asking a Microsoft pilot about coating an old phone I have including the charging USB port to make it waterproof.
Microsoft pilot suggested in its answer Flywoo x30. I looked it up and stumbled upon your video.
Do you know if this spray will protect a USB port? All while maintaining conductivity for the USB cable to charge the phone? (Underwater)

I don't know if you've ever tried the product dry drone which I believe is basically Novec by 3M. Which you can actually dip into and I'm pretty sure it's very similar but it's green and not in a spray Maybe take a look at it I don't know if they still sell it but commercial sizes only. I've been using it for years and it works really well and it goes on drives instantly
I always wanted to try that stuff. Does it scratch off easily like this flywoo stuff does, or is it a stronger adhering coating?
@@starsstripesjacket Not at all actually It doesn't come off by scratching it at all like you need to scrub it with alcohol an a toothbrush and still doesn't come off as easy. But it goes on pretty much as thin and the same. I've been using it for years It saved my electronics from stupid things like snow etc. I personally just take my ESC and FC throw it in the bag shake it up and done If I really want to get crazy I can CC just the ESC and only. Dip or just brush it on The FC. Plugs all that stuff doesn't matter with it. It's not cheap but it's worth it in my opinion.
The only real test is to make a flying submarine.

It would be interesting to see a thermal test with and without conformal coating, and with and without this spray. We know there are some effects, but are they significant?
It is most likely some form of polymer/Novec mix. There is an alternative to 3M Novec solutions though. Might be that one as well... fluorinated solvent with some magic
Can it be used on o3 ir unit?
I thinkg I wouldn't trust it to waterproof my drone, it's too easy to scratch it off, it make drone more like splash proof - so if its starts raining I can safely come back. But I might use it in future as additional layer after using traditional methods of conformal coating.

I'm disappointed you chose a VTX instead of an ESC to test. ESC water survival is the real question...

Good stuff, i wonder what dji use because i have given that little avata 2 some serious S*** water testing its had 4 rain flights 1 been into the edge of a stormcloud trying to capture the lightening had a pack that didnt want to show bat level when pressing the button or charge but then was fine the next day.Tried conformal a couple of times and maybe coincidence but the aio/escs have died pretty quick

I asked flywoo if this would work with saltwater and voiced my concerns that saltwater is completely different to freshwater and the only solution i have found with saltwater through a barrage of testing is to fully encase all the electronics so no saltwater can touch it. They replied saying it does work with saltwater. Your testing to me suggests it would be useless with saltwater and personally i believe it should be noted in their product description that it is for freshwater only. Would love to get some to test it out but vendors here in Australia are slow to get new products like this and shipping it directly from flywoo might result in it being stopped at the border for being a hazardous substance at my own cost and loss so🤷
Do i have to tape the barometer and connectors before i apply this? or it doesnt have any effects on finctionality as plastik spray would have
If you already conformal coat it, can you then use this spray to give the quad the best chance.
You need to order you a small tin of "Tip Tinner" your soldering tips are black and not sticking.
What Will this work on your cameras to keep the water off your camera

Yes but you may need to do repairs.

You can use dry drone for that. Which is basically Novec by 3M

I get a feeling that the reason they are unwilling to go into details about what is in it, is not because it’s a deathly solution in the bottle… but I bet flywoo doesn’t want anyone running off looking for cheap alternatives or other FPV vendors ‘copying’ it.
I would not be shocked to the only ‘crime’ here is that a $5 spray is being sold for $25 but still the question remains… Chinese safety records of course don’t mean much.
There's a company called Lexuma who make a product called X20 that seems to have quite similar properties. It crossed my mind that this might be a (not very imaginative) re-branding of the same stuff! But 10 better, obviously...
@@rookery_ Wow, you may have hit the mail on the head with that find. Have you used that before? It also says that it's "highly reversible" which is similar to the flywoo spray.
@@JohnCuppiNo, I haven't - it looks like it only ships to the US and Hong Kong, and I'm in the UK. It does seem really similar though!
